A Life Altered

The war was long over. Life had changed drastically in the Wizarding world. Severus had been killed by Nagini, only to be resurrected by a vampire who chose to share his blood with one of their worlds biggest war heroes. He had thought he would miss daylight at first, but later found that he quite preferred the night.

He had kept his recovery secret from all but a blessed few. Draco and Lucius had been two such ones that knew the truth. Potter and Weasley were two others. Of course, he had reasons for keeping them helping to keep his secret.

One of which was his never ending search for the witch that had gone missing that last day. Hermione Granger. She had been there as the end of the Dark Lord came. But, when the dust cleared and they had looked around, they found her gone.

At first, Harry and Ron had believed that she had just gone to try to work to recover her parents memories and reunite herself with them. Because of that, it had been the first place he had checked. Draco had offered his help. He had been so ashamed of himself for allowing his Aunt to torture Granger, he wanted to help in order to make it up to her.

Weeks turned to months. Months turned to years. Lucius joined in the search. After Narcissa had divorced him, he had nothing else to occupy himself. Making an impression on the Wizarding world by trying to recover the young witch would be worth it.

Finally, five years after her disappearance, the Minister had called of the search. To Harry and Ron’s shock and disappointment, he listed Hermione among the lives lost in the final battle.

In time, even Ron and Harry had moved on. Harry married Ginny. Ron married Luna. They soon filled the void left by the loss of their friend, by the love of their children. Their eldest children would be starting Hogwarts in the fall.

So, what happened to the brave witch, Hermione Granger? Her parents memories remained locked away, and in time, she became a distant memory of all that loved her. Too soon, she was forgotten. Well, actually, with time it was almost as if she had never existed.
