Prologue

A/N: I still do not own Harry Potter in any way, shape, or form. That privilege goes to JK Rowling and the magnificent works that were written.

But...if I did own Harry Potter, the wizarding world would be in for one hell of a rude awakening….

Prologue

The Final Battle. It was supposed to be the most epic, action-packed battle of wizarding history. There should have been a combination of tangled limbs as both Death Eaters and Aurors clashed together, raising their wands and sending hexes back and forth between both sides. There should have been green beams shooting from wands as Unforgivables were casted upon wizards and witches alike, sending the unsuspecting magic users to the cold ground in a lifeless husk.

Of course, the Final Battle had not come; at least not in the way that the Order had expected. Harry Potter, the infamous “Boy-who-lived”, found himself in utter shock as he stood on the C-cliffside, staring below into the glossy eyes of a lifeless Voldemort. Who knew that such a plain little tube of coral pink lipstick and a compact mirror would have saved his own life.

Even though the battle wasn’t quite as epic as everyone seemed to stir it up to be, the Death Eaters still put up one hell of a battle themselves, fighting for the Dark Lord they once served. But, as he fell to his death by the hands of Harry Potter and his muggle items, even the dark rebels themselves hung their heads in shame at their master’s humiliating defeat.

It was from that point where the Ministry’s highly trained Aurors came through, taking down what was left of Voldemort’s pitiful servants, hauling them off to Azkaban where they were to be immediately kissed and caged away like uncontrollable animals at a neighborhood zoo.

Hermione, with her quick-wittedness, had once again helped Harry out of another precarious situation and instead of merely saving his life, she helped destroy the most cursed one in the wizarding world. Though Harry seemed to be getting most of the credit for Voldemort’s downfall, she really couldn’t have cared less. The only thing that she wanted was the satisfaction of knowing that both her and Ronald Weasley were safe.

The months seemed to fly by, and without the threat of Voldemort hanging in the air, most of the witches and wizards sighed with boredom as a dull routine began. It seemed to take the place where the chaos and fear once stood.

The fall months soon turned into a snowy winter with chilled air and beautiful white flakes falling lightly upon the streets of London.

Christmas was only two weeks away and with all the planning that was floating around Grimmauld Place, things became a little hectic. Especially when Hermione announced the arrival of her longtime penpal, whom she had been writing to ever since her 3rd year in Hogwarts.

The news was on such a short notice that Minerva had to put together a spare bedroom for the guest, who was to stay with Hermione for a short while as some sort of get-together they had planned from the moment they had first written each other.

Although it was nice of Hermione to offer her overseas penpal a place to stay, Minerva, Molly, Tonks, and Mad-Eye were all wracked with distress, should she be a muggle. There was no law against muggle/wizard interaction, but, if Hermione had put the Order in jeopardy with her carelessness, then the girl would have to be Obliviated and sent back on her way to America.

Hermione tried as hard as she could to reassure her fellow Order members that this penpal was a pureblooded witch, but they would not believe it until they could take a better look at this girl. And if that was the case, then so be it.

As Hermione raced to the kitchen, she accidently bumped shoulders with Tonks, who merely whirled around to see a blur of chocolate brown sprint past her.

"Wotcher Ermione'!" the cheery woman called out as she ran her hand through her shoulder-length icy blue locks.

"Hello Tonks!" came a very late response through the swinging kitchen door just before it closed once again.

Tonks laughed to herself, brushing off the little bump from Hermione with a small shake of her head. Plucking a strand of her icy blue hair into view, she wondered what Kingsley would say if she decided to parade herself in bright neon-green hair....

"He'd probably bugger out and tell me I'm absolutely nutters..." she chuckled, passing through the sitting room to give a quick wave to Harry and Ginny before turning the corner in the hall and descending the stairs to her rooms.

With a plan formulating in her head, Tonks smirked to herself as she unclipped her robes, dragging the heavy material down the carpeted hall to the very last door on the left of the wing, slamming open the door to her rooms. The only thing left to do was wait for a reluctant Kingsley Shacklebolt to come home from work to see a sexy little surprise his lover had so graceously left for him.

Ah....such as the life of lovers.

Alright! This is my first chapter, although not a long one, but one to start you off with. And yes, I had to throw in some Tonks/Kingsley fluff to help create a rather steamy mood in such a dull place. My muse was begging and pleading with me to add a little, so, I thought I should before she decides to malice me with a shoehorn.

Anything you would like to comment on is greatly appreciated. And, I apologize for the short chapter. I swear they will get longer when this gets off the ground.
