Different Kind of Story

A/N: just a little something i wrote up a few weeks ago, for practice and for fun. it turned out better than i thought, and i had actually posted it on my facebook - my friends were unaware of the hp/dm connotations.

summary: obviously from draco's point of view, how he sees events of his life up until the anticipation of the final battle.

i. "we fight."
i'm restless
i'm reckless
i'm a vagabond
your voice calls out
i don't care
i care, but
i don't care
the wind picks up,
you make me flinch
but i
'll never cry over you
you can't defeat me
but it was
never meant to be
war.

ii. "dark mark."
there's a
heart
carved into my arm
dark ink marring my skin
covering flesh like a sin
i lick my lips with stillbirth anticipation
but the words tumble formless
you wouldn't understand even if
i tried to say them
i want to
scratch my way across
your form
your arm
til it runs red
and you're marked

if you could bear the weight i wear
it wouldn't feel so
wrong
to want you here

iii. "unforgivable."
there's a spiderweb spreading up my chest
creasing the muscles at my ribs
thin slices into the skin
they still hurt
they still burn
like your eyes, all coal and
emerald, smoldering into me when
all i really want is
your lips against my teeth.
how was i supposed to know?
you shouldn't follow me when i'm alone...
i'm impossible to control.

iv. "snakes and games."
the first scream
and i was sick
swept up in torrents
"fear is weakness"
he said, he said
"fear is weakness," pushing
me to the cold floor

i promise you,
i've never done this before.

but i heard the bones crunch
and the cries ebb
and in the afterglow of menace
he just laughed in my face.

torture isn't supposed to be a game.

v. "near the forbidden."
there are moments when the mask slips.
when the cool wall between us,
is too tedious to maintain.
and you're you,
and i'm me.
do you remember by the lake?
you smiled,
i waved –
do you know how afraid i was
in that moment?
no ghost or demon or darkness will ever effect me
like you do,
like a stampede across my heart,
like a firefly in my veins;
and all because the sunlight lit up your face.

vi. "second to last."
divinations,
machinations,
i'm praying to gods and sorcerers
hoping that
i wont face you on the battlefield.
i'd rather die than be forced to hurt you.
i'd rather you kill me;
at least i'd die happy.

reviews are much appreciated. if ya'll like it, i may consider writing some more, but i just didn't know how well this one would fare. so there's potentially more where this came from lol.
