I'm Yours
"I'm Yours"
You've touched these tired eyes of mine
And mapped my face line by line
And some how growing old feels fine
I listen close for I'm not smart
You wrap your thoughts and works of art
And there hanging on the walls of my heart.
Severus stared at himself in the bathroom mirror as he listened to Hermione making breakfast. His thoughts drifted to the woman in question and the life they now shared. Every morning for the past two years he had woken to her warm body next to his, the light touch of her fingers tracing over his face. She would whisper how handsome she thought he was- despite everything he or other people may think. He still found it hard to believe that she was there, but the thought of tomorrow was brighter because he knew she would be there with him. Severus Snape had let a woman into his heart and never intended of letting her go.
I may not have the softest touch
I may not say the words as such
And though I may not look like much
I'm yours.
And though my edge is maybe rough
I never feel I'm quite enough
And it may not seem like very much
But I'm yours.
He looked at his rough hands- callused from years of not only brewing potions, but also fighting with wands and fists. He though of all the times he should have said something, or perhaps nothing- because it caused her pain. All the times he should have told her how much he cared- how deeply he loved her.
He looked back up to his face, aged early from a hard life, the deep scar on his neck a constant remaindered of his past. Yet she kissed the ugly mark with tenderness and understanding. Two things he knew little of from others.
You healed these scars over time
And braced my soul, you loved my mind
Your the only angel in my life
The day the news came, my best friend died
My knees went weak, and you saw me cry
Say I'm still the soldier in your eyes.
She was the one who helped him through it all. Brought him back from the brink of death and gave him a reason to keep breathing. The day Lucius had finally died, the long battle against the curse that had hit him during the final battle- and Severus had fought to keep at bay for years- won over his weakened body. Severus had broke apart in the comfort of Hermione’s arms, and she thought no less of him- quite the contrary. With these thoughts to give him courage, Severus left the loo and made his way to the kitchen.
I may not have the softest touch
I may not say the words as such
And though I may not look like much
I'm yours.
And though my edge is maybe rough
I never feel I'm quite enough
And it may not seem like very much
But I'm yours.
Hermione was finishing up the tea when she felt Severus enter. She turned with a smile on her face to greet him good morning but was taken aback when she saw him kneeling in front of her.
“Severus?” she asked confused.
“All my faults aside my love, I am undeniably, and forever yours.” And with that Severus opened his palm to reveal a perfect pearl flanked by amethyst in white gold. “And I asking will you share the rest of your life with me?”
Hermione dropped down in front of Severus and wrapped her arms around his neck, placing a kiss on his lips.
“Of course,” she whispered against his mouth before he claimed hers. This kiss was deep enough to seal the bond they had formed together.
I may not have the softest touch
I may not say the words as such
And though I don't fit in that much
But I'm yours.

You touch these tired eyes of mine
And map my face out line by line
And somehow growing old feels fine
I listen close for I'm not smart
You wrap your thoughts in works of art
And they're hanging on the walls of my heart
I may not have the softest touch
I may not say the words as such
And though I may not look like much
I'm yours
And though my edges may be rough
And never feel I'm quite enough
It may not seem like very much
But I'm yours
You healed these scars over time
Embraced my soul
You loved my mind
You're the only angel in my life
The day news came my best friend died
My knees went weak and you saw me cry
Say I'm still the soldier in your eyes
I may not have the softest touch
I may not say the words as such

I'm yours
And though my edges may be rough
And never feel I'm quite enough

I know I don't fit in that much
But I'm yours
