The End of the War

This story takes place right after Harry is captured in the woods at the end of DH.
A few spoilers.
Pretty pretty please leave reviews!

I was thrown into a large puddle of mud only inches from his feet by one of his hooded henchmen. He waved the binding spells away with a single flick of his powerful wrist. Malice and the need for vengeance caused my body to shake, my teeth clenching. Before my mind had any sense to stop I leapt at him wanting to tear him flesh from bone until nothing but his wretched soul remained, but something stopped me in mid-air. It was as if I had run into a solid brick wall, but I could see no obstruction. I fell back into the mud with a gasp of shock and a loud groan. He looked down at me and laughed curtly.

“You always have to make a mess out of things, don’t you, Harry?”

I growled and lunged toward him again only to hit the invisible wall. A crack emanated from my face, it had been my nose. He sighed and waved his hand fixing the break and stopping the blood before it had even reached my upper lip. Tears stung at my bright green eyes as the pain mounted. The thought of him healing me disgusted me. I didn’t need his help, I was the Chosen One! An animalistic growl forcefully came from my throat as I stood shakily. It took me a few seconds, but I finally managed to steady myself on my feet.

“Very impressive, Harry, who knew you had it in you; however, my captives never stand before me. Kneel.”

The order made me wince as if it had a power over me but I refused with whatever brain cells running into that wall had not killed. A feminine hiss of distain and anger came from my right as I refused the order, but I ignored it.

“I kneel to no one.”

The words came out of my mouth before I even had a chance to think about what I was saying. This only caused him to laugh even harder than before as his vicious red eyes bore into me seemingly reaching my very core. Suddenly something in his hands caught my eye; it was a wand, but not his wand. The Elder Wand gave off a magical green glow as he held it. A grin spread over his face when he followed my line of sight.

“You see, Harry, this wand should rightfully respond to you alone. I have been researching its capabilities recently and found a wonderful little loop hole. I want this wand, and as you well know The Dark Lord gets what The Dark Lord wants. So now I am left with two choices. I can either kill you.”

A few excited murmurs passed through the circle of Death Eaters that surrounded us at this prospect.

“Or, I can make you into my slave.”

A shocked silence suddenly enraptured the small outcrop in the trees we currently hid within. Confused looks passed around the circle of masked faces and I raised an eyebrow looking up at Voldemort in utter distain.

“So just kill me and get it over with”, I replied with a hint of fear quivering in my usually resolved tone.

“That is what I thought at first, I would just kill you and end this entire thing continuing my reign of terror and so on and so forth. Then a thought crossed my mind!”

Voldemort stood placing the tips of his long, sickeningly pale fingers together and stared down at me studying my hardened mask of courage and anger.

“If I kill Harry, all of his little rebellious followers will make such a mess, but if I were to make you my slave they would have no choice but to surrender. Think about it, Harry. No more of your pathetic little friends have to die if you become my slave.”

The Dark Lord knew my weakness; the guilt passed though my body in a long shiver. The memories of friends and students dying around me shifted to the front of my mind. George’s death stood out and replayed in my head, while the fresh wounds were ripped open again. Voldemort stepped toward me passing through the invisible brick wall as if it were nothing. My scar began to ache as he came closer and I began to take a step back.

“I see my presence still upsets your scar when I come near. That would disappear too. It’s your choice, Harry. Either you lose your life and seal the fate of your friends or you relent and they survive.”

The weight of his words fell over me and my head bowed to him. My resolve finally broke. I had made up my mind. I would suffer to save the lives of those I loved, Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Fred, Arthur, Molly, Bill, Fleur, Charlie, Cho, My teachers, and every other Hogwarts student. Even Malfoy’s face came into my mind, it must have been the martyr in me but I knew this was the only way. I closed my eyes and my shoulders slumped as my body recognized my defeat. This would be the end of the war. Whoever said that good always prevails was a bloody idiot.
