I Hate it When You do That

I Hate It When He Does That

There was less than five minutes of lessons to go and Professor Snape was still asking unrelenting questions. Some were easy. Some were not.

"Mr Longbottom," Snape snapped, addressing the young seventh year who instantly jumped in his seat.

"S-sir?"

"I believe I asked you a question," he sneered, lowering his voice considerably.

"I ... I believe … I think...”

"There are no second-guessing in this class, Mr Longbottom, now answer the question."

Neville paled more than usual. His friends knew that look. It was the look he always wore just before losing control of his bodily functions.

Harry Potter couldn't take it any more. “Two clock-wise and five anti-clockwise," Harry spat out and then added sarcastically, "Sir."

The room became instantly quiet and the air was thick with tension. Harry had over-stepped his boundaries. Again. Professor and student glared at one another, both incapable of speech. Suddenly, the sound of the school bell cut through the deafening silence, echoing loud enough to cause several of the students to jump. A full twenty seconds went by before the Potions master found his voice.

"Dismissed. Except ... for Mr Potter."

Like no one saw that coming.

The students filed out of the classroom one-by-one, leaving the two wizards to their face-off. There was a long pause before Professor Snape slowly rose from his desk and stood in front of his unflinching student.

"Perhaps, Mr Potter, you can explain yourself," he said shortly, folding his arms about his chest.

Harry said nothing, but his jaw clenched and his eyes narrowed. After a brief moment, he sighed heavily.

"I don't know why I would even bother to try."

Harry spun around and was half-way to the door when a low voice bellowed out.

"Potter! I do not believe I gave you permission to leave!"

Harry froze, fists curling by his side. He heard his professor approach and then sensed that Snape had stopped just behind him. He knew that if he were to turn around, Snape would be close enough to touch. He shut his eyes and sighed again.

"I hate it when you do that to him."

Snape leaned down and Harry could feel his warm breath tickle his ear as he spoke.

"You need to start letting them answer for themselves, Potter," he said and then stopped, giving Harry a chance to fully absorb his words. "You won't always be there to protect them."

Harry tightened his eyelids and leaned back. Snape grabbed a tuff of his hair and yanked his head back, tilting it to the side. He bent over and pressed his lips firmly over Harry's. The young wizard gasped into his mouth. As quickly as he descended, Snape pulled back and his dark eyes bore into light green ones.

Looking up, Harry breathed, "I hate it when you're right."

Snape smirked and forced his lips upon Harry's once again. His free hand slid to the front of Harry’s trousers and lightly squeezed. Harry stifled a moan. Snape broke the kiss, and looked down at his student’s flushed face.

"We ... only have an hour," Harry whispered, panting slightly.

Snape raised an eyebrow. "And I hate it when you state the obvious."

This time, it was Harry who smirked. He lifted his arm high enough to reach behind Snape's head and pulled him down for another kiss.

Outside the classroom, Ronald Weasley was pacing and kept glancing at his watch. Hermione Granger was tapping her foot. She finally scoffed and grabbed him by the sleeve.

"Come on. He's taking too long."

Ron nodded and glanced back at the closed door.

"I hate it when he does that,” he said, shaking his head. “He at least could've come out and told us."

Hermione silently agreed as she stormed off towards the Great Hall.
