A little begining

AN: Super Important everyone! Although this does take place in Deathly Hallows, everything up until the forest should be about the same. There might be a few exceptions, but of course I will address that in future chapters...

Most important to understand when reading this..: When I wrote this, I was in a very unsure mood. I wasn’t sure where it would take me, or even what would happen. There may be some times when the chapter seems more like filler, then an actual chapter. Well in that case, it probably is lol. There will be times when I just need a random chapter to help get me out of a rut, and to perhaps give you readers more information.

I hope I explained everything well! And if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I am doing the best I can to make sure I don’t leave anything unanswered in this story, but I may get so caught up in one plot point that I lose focus XD Anyways, happy reading!!

Chapter 1
A little beginning.

Fear was spread out all over forest. Darkness swirled at every corner, making it hard to see your hand in front of your face.

A small group huddled together, to keep warm and to protect each other. Leading this group with his wand illuminated, was one Harry Potter. His messy raven hair danced in the wind, his lens covered eyes narrowed, trying to see further ahead.

The mist and fog was so thick, one could almost chew it. But as think and course as it was, Harry and his friends trudged on.

Days and nights went by, without anyone having any clue as to where they were going, or even where their next task would lead them to. The horcrux task had taken well over a year to start, during which time, Harry and Hermione spent many hours simply pouring over notes and books.

Time was precious however, as Voldemort and his followers were hunting the Golden Trio. Poor Ron had such a hard time, wondering what had happened to his various family members.

It got to the point that Ron had almost gone permanently insane from nightmares. They decided to take that as a sign that it was time to venture back into humanity again soon. But was it truly worth the risk?

They had set up camp nearby, not daring to light a fire so close to a town. It gave them an opportunity to look around, quietly observe, and see if perhaps this town was safe enough for visitation.

~~~~~~~
They finally finished setting up camp, making sure that it couldn’t easily be stumbled upon by muggles or wizards alike.
Ron spent his time, as always, inside the tent staring at a family photograph. He wasn’t of any help or use to Hermione and Harry at this point, rarely offering any suggestions, or even passing on some sort of helpful knowledge.
Being the only one of the three that had spent his entire life in the wizarding world, he was bound to know something about anything... But it appeared that his brain matter had expired, and was only good for carrying things like a donkey.
Not that he was dim-witted, or that they still didn’t care for their red haired friend. Harry and Hermione, however, were on a very taxing journey and needed all the help they could get. Ron wasn’t being any, thus they simply acknowledged him and continued on with their research.
Most of which was done on the road now. Before they had to run, the Trio had received some very special gifts from a close professor... Dumbledore had passed on, and had left in his will some information that would help Harry in his ultimate quest. Of course, they were clues within themselves.
~~~~~~~~~

The ministry had observed the gifts before hand, asking many questions about why these three students received something from the old man’s will. Was there something special about these three? A bond? Perhaps a secret they were all trying to keep from the ministry? Maybe it was a combination of all three?

The newest Minister for Magic was rather obsessed with the need to vanquish the Dark Lord. He tried to recruit Harry for their “Poster boy”, to raise moral through the ranks of light wizards everywhere. Merlin knew there weren’t many of them left.

But Harry was your typical Gryffindor, loyal and courageous. He wasn’t going to simply sit by, and give the Ministry all Dumbledore’s information, and then sit on the benches. No! He was Harry bloody Potter for Christ’s sake. He didn’t take that from anyone!

Thus, more determined than ever, Potter gave the Ministry officials a rather innocent look upon being asked about Dumbledore’s secrets. Claiming he didn’t know anything, or why he even received something in the will, when there were so many other countless wizards who were closer to the old man.

That being said, Harry still didn’t understand what it was Dumbledore had given him. A street address? What good was that? Harry didn’t even know what that would mean, or who would be waiting there for him.

Lord only knew where Voldemort’s cronies were laying in wait. While it may have been safe when Dumbledore wrote the address, it could have been raided by Death Eaters by now, just waiting for the moment Harry came and investigated.

~~~~~~~~
Harry was sure that Hogwarts would almost be let out for Easter holidays. Meaning that it was almost a year that they had been away from most civilisation.
As pondered, he tossed the Golden snitch from hand to hand. There were so many dangers from being here. Back in this place he and his parents lived. Godric’s Hollow... How much he had wanted to be here for so long, and yet he couldn’t bring himself to be truly happy.
How could he ever be truly happy, at the end of all of this? Would anything go right in the end? Harry wondered if he would ever become normal in the end... But again, he didn’t have the chance to truly spend thinking about what he would do after the war.
Out in front of him was a long stretch of parchment. It was a faded old map, something that he had found in the Burrow. Mr. Weasley said that he could have it, and then gave it to them shortly before the wedding of his son Bill, to Miss Fleur Delacour.
Harry was surprised by how nice and accurate the map actually was. He always stopped at night, spelled the map to use the stars above as a sort of compass. Eventually, Harry managed to trace out a route for them. One that rarely brought them close to towns and even one that managed to cross paths with a few helpful artefacts, as well as various old teammates giving helpful information.
Now they were so near Godric’s hollow, and Harry looked over the small parchment with the address on it. They would visit here first, first thing in the morning. He would make sure that the whole town was secure first, and then slowly, one by one, watching each other’s back...
Late into the night, they would creep forward, searching through the clues that were left to them by the dead. Slowly Harry rolled up the map and made his way back to camp. Hermione had already started a small contained fire, with twigs and leaves. Eventually they would add more timber, relying solely on the dying embers to keep them warm and cook their food. Not that there was much of that left.
Much of their food storage was based upon what they could carry each day. Using their magic was limited, considering they didn’t want to be traced.
Harry made his way quietly beside the bushy haired girl and smiled as she didn’t even bother looking up.
“Harry, you do realise, the longer you are away, the more you can expose us... Please don’t go too far next time...”
“Sorry Mione. I just caught up with my thoughts. “
“I figured, but that all aside Harry, I have some information for you.”
She paused and flipped through a couple papers and books that were in her lap.
“It says here that your parents were buried right-” Hermione paused to pull out a map of Godric’s Hollow. “Right here.” She points.
Harry hmmed for a moment, pondering the best procedure for tomorrow.
“I’m honestly not sure what to expect when we arrive. I don’t know if there will be Death Eaters present, or even if there would be something waiting to trap us.”
“Oh no you don’t Harry!” Hermione growled.
Harry looked at her blankly.
“You cannot talk me out of coming with you! After everything we’ve been through already? You should be expecting me to be at your back the whole time. I cannot speak for Ronald of course...”
She slowly quieted herself as she realised that she had broken their unspoken “Let’s not talk about Ron” deal.
She knew that they had to let him go when it was most opportune. But they had been in the forest for over half a year now... There was no way that they could have simply left him there...
“Tonight I plan to scout out the town, and the snitch. I am going by myself, but I am leaving you two my cloak... “
“I understand.”
Harry blinked a few times. He hadn’t expected so easy a battle. Just a few moments ago, wasn’t she just arguing that he shouldn’t go alone, and that he would be taking her with him?
“Oh Harry... I am not going to intrude on you and your parents... I understand. But go quickly... I don’t know how anxious I get when you leave for too long.”
“I know Mione... I know.”
He laughed and made his way into the tent to rest up for a few hours. He needed a bit of energy before he went into town.
Ron lifted his head meekly and nodded to Harry, who in turn nodded back. Things had been shaky between the two, ever since they carried around the real locket. It was like a source of evil feelings were pouring from the horcrux, and establishing itself over Ron each time the red head carried it.
Harry shook out his greasy hair and groaned as he made his way to one of the bedrooms of the tent. He didn’t want to think about the last time he bathed, let alone the last time he had a truly hot shower.
The slender boy made his way to a bed and without bothering to change out of his clothes, flopped on the bed and started snoring almost immediately. Later tonight would be a rather eventful evening after all....
AN: That is it for chapter 1; I hope you enjoyed this little introduction. I know that there isn’t a lot of dialogue yet, but I promise that there will be!! This is just so that I can get a lot of information out at once, but I do promise that Harry and Draco do get together eventually, and that there will be epic-ness of slightly dramatic proportions! I hope you all R&R, especially if you have any questions, or comments! Thank you again for reading!
(ARGH, had some difficulty posting this chapter. SO frustrating!! Oh well, now it's up... Hopefully XDD)
