POLOGUE – Defying Death

‘A man once told me death was the final adventure. Even so, I’d rather not be dead.’

The ground shook violently. Frozen dirt, bugs and scattered leaves heaved upwards as his master launched himself from his grave. “Haku?” The man groused disgustedly spitting out a mouthful of frozen dirt.

“Yes, Zabuza-sama?” The effeminate little boy said demurely. Surprisingly, Kakashi’s assumption that Haku was older than his team was false, the hybrid henge-glamour Haku wore to appear older was currently dispelled. He was petite and seemingly delicate with long, silken ebony hair and large almond shaped green eyes. At eight years old, he had clearly far more intelligent than his peers or those years older.

“Hurry, we need to meet the team.” Zabuza muttered. “I doubt Kenji will be patient enough to wait much longer for us. And the twins, Hyiarashi, will no doubt be readying some prank to test my patience.”

“Yes, sir.” Haku said smiling and holding out a flash of his de-aging concoction. Haku was an unusual Shinobi with a lineage far more powerful than he let others believe. One of his unusual abilities was that plants whispered to him their properties and in which they could be combined to make the most spectacular things happen. At first Haku had been hesitant to attempt these ‘miraculous combinations’, but after his eyesight had steadily declined he attempted to correct it and in result his eyes sight was near super human in ability.

“It is ten years, correct?” Zabuza asked grumpily, glaring at the neon violet liquid.

“Yes, sir.” The ebony haired child said quietly. With one final glance at the liquid, Zabuza quickly downed the liquid and with a startled gasp, the physical toll the years had taken on his body began to steadily decline, until he appeared a man of eighteen. Zabuza thrust his hand blindly at Haku, waiting for the boy to hand him the next flask. The next concoction, a coloring liquid permanently changed Zabuza’s rough inky-black hair into a vibrant red color with golden highlights. His dark-brown eyes became an alluring cobalt-blue and his grey toned skin became a healthy bronze. The following concoction grew his shorn hair to his shoulders and restored his eyebrows. Another concoction removed any scars on his body. The last concoction changed his chakra signature. The last one, Haku also consumed.

Zabuza changed quickly into his new clothing, consisting of black cotton pants, a black cotton sleeveless top, with a leather and chainmail vest with many silver buckles over it, black leather boots with knives in the heel and toe, black leather and metal armguards and last; two slender katana with black leather hilts.

Haku had also changed his clothing, now wearing a light blue shirt the closed in front, dark blue Hakama pants, grey Shinobi sandals, his sebon pouch was hidden inside his shirt, and his large Yumi (bow – bow and arrows) and case of Ya (Arrows) were strapped his back in tan dear hide. A tan leather chocker encased his slender neck. Hidden at his back were several short blades.
