Disclaimer: I do not own anything that you recognize. The characters all belong to J.K.Rowling. Please do not sue me because you will be very disappointed seeing as I own nothing and make just enough to get by, sad really.

Note: This story has talks of suicide, abuse, and completely ignores Deathly Hallows (because I’m still in denial about the ending and therefore ignoring the whole thing), so if you don’t like that than don’t read it. Feel pity for me and Review this good or bad.

Chapter 1
Explanations

War, isn’t it odd how one word can conger up so many different emotions, so many visuals? How one word can cause friends to turn on each other and enemies to become friends? How one word can cause people to stop and re-evaluate there motives, there thoughts, and there feelings? How one word can cause such death and destruction? How one word can cause dramatic changes in a person and force them to make drastic decisions? How one word can cause people to act irrationally, stupidly and immorally?

So much death, so much violence. So many people had died during the war. People who those fighting had thought to be untouchable, to powerful and smart to die; starting with Albus Dumbledore, then going to Minerva McGonagall and Mad Eye Moody and ending with Kingsley Shacklebolt. People who where to young and innocent to die, in all one hundred fifty-three muggles including twenty-one children under the age of 12. People who thought themselves untouchable and to good to die like most of the Death Eaters and those who did not die are not much better off having been captured (they say that Bellatrix Lestrange sits and laughs hysterically all day never knowing where she is). Classmates and loves like Neville Longbottom who had died saving Ginny’s life, Arthur Weasley who was the secret keeper of the new location for the Order of the Phoenix and was tortured first before he was killed for not giving the location, Pansy Parkinson who ended up going to the good side because Draco did, Percy Weasley who was in hiding and found by Death Eaters, and Lavender Brown-Weasley who was saving her and Ron’s one year old daughter during the last battle. Even more ended up with injuries that could not be cured or insane.

At the beginning of the war, there had been an increase of marriages. Most of them to younger witches and wizards who realized that they might die and never get the chance to later. Ron and Lavender were the first two in there grade to run off and elope, after Dumbledore’s death sank in and Ron and Hermione realized that they were not at all compatible, to Ron it seemed only logical that he and Lavender marry. Harry and Ginny had married in a small ceremony just days after Ginny turned of age, soon after Harry was off looking for Voldemort and Ginny was back at school. Hermione married Viktor Krum two weeks and three days after Harry and Ginny. She did not love him, but it was what was expected. Who was she to go against what everyone wanted, what everyone thought she should do, what everyone excepted?

Through her whole life she had played her part, never acting anything but perfect, never letting most people know how she felt, never misbehaving in any way. Even during the war, with all the death and destruction, she still played her part. Never acting scared that the next person to die would be her or one of her close friends. Never acting worried that maybe Dumbledore had been wrong in not telling everything that he knew about the prophesy, not preparing them better, not trusting them more. Her friends knew the truth. Each watching her die more and more every day. Acting like the perfect soldier during the war, the perfect employee for the ministry after, the perfect wife, and perfectly happy, when anyone who knew her knew better. She did rebel in her own way, no one would approve of her sneaking off every other night to be with her friends, no one would approve of her drinking until she did not feel the pain anymore, and no one would have approved of her having an affair with Draco Malfoy, of all people, except her friends who knew her husband for what he was and not what he pretended to be.

Draco, his mother, and Snape had shown up at the door of the Order only two months after Snape had killed Dumbledore. Snape had to explain to the Order what had happened in the weeks before Dumbledore’s death claiming that Dumbledore had known about Voldemort’s threat to Draco and had sacrificed himself to save Draco, knowing that he was already dieing, and had convinced Snape to kill him so Draco would not have it on him. Snape had proof of his conversation with Dumbledore. Narcissa Malfoy had begged the Order to keep her and Draco safe because Lord Voldemort had seen Draco as a failure. So the Order took all of them in after using more than one vile of truth potion and questioning them for days.

Harry was the first to forgive Draco for all he had done claiming that what he had seen in the tower the night of Dumbledore’s death had proven that Dumbledore had trusted Draco and thought him worthy of the protection of the Order. Ron had followed Harry’s lead and forged a friendship, albeit a shaky one, with Draco. Hermione had thought them both to be completely and utterly insane. She did not see where him saying he was sorry was grounds to automatically forgive him for torturing them all for years. It took most of the war, him saving her life, him finding out about her not so wonderful marriage, them having sex several times during and after the war, and him finally confessing to her (right after the last battle) that he had been in love with her for over a year, for her to finally forgive him.
