Every year, he never failed to lay lilies on her grave. For as long as he could remember, he would go there and sit for hours, mourning a love that was never his. Even after he was married, he would disappear for hours on the anniversary of the day she died. Hermione tried to understand that Lily was a part of his life and something she would never be able to change.
This year, he sat in a small room at St. Mungo's beside his wife, with his newborn daughter in his arms.
"Severus, I know you missed going to Lily's grave. If you want, you can go now; Rose and I will be fine for a little while."
She was sad at the thought of him leaving, but he needed this time.
"I don't think I will be going there to mourn anymore."
"Why?" She turned and looked into his eyes.
"Because this day will always be the day I stopped mourning Lily and started celebrating Rose."
