Boredom

Boredom.

It's not a good thing when you're Harry Potter. When you're Harry Potter and bored you tend to dwell on thoughts you've tried your damndest to ignore. Like on how the word is slowly but surely passing you by. You're either stuck here at the Dursley's during the summer and then for the rest of the year you're confined to a stone school. As you think about that another thought passes through your mind, a thought that's morbid but realistic. How long do you have to live? Especially when you have a Dark Lord on your tail waiting around every corner for your back to be turned before striking.

You begin to think... why am I not living life?

More questions fill your time.

Why must I stay here?

Where might I go where I am not recognized?

Can I escape?

What sites can I see?

Can I leave? Just for a bit?

What the hell, why not?

As your mind whirls from one thought to another you remember the times of Mrs. Weasley pointing out how much of a good boy you are.

How you follow rules.

How polite you are.

How considerate you are.

How shy and adorable you are.

... wouldn't you be sick of it?

Boredom can cause some serious brain farts. A perfect example would be of one Harry Potter. Brain farts caused by Boredom can lead to ideas that later once rethought of makes you wonder... what was I thinking! But Harry Potter was different, he hardly second-guessed himself. What was the point when there was no way one could turn back time... well legally of course.

Madness. Another symptom of boredom. Sneaking out in the middle of night under an invisibility cloak is perfectly insane. But boredom also caused disregard to consequence and the rules... like once said, Harry Potter was a prime example.

As far as feet could walk and safely stop to pull out a polished wand, Harry Potter did. A buss screeched to a halt and our perfect example, Harry Potter, allowed himself to be called Neville - Madness!

Stumbling off the bus, head bowed, and hope flaring the sight of Gringotts bank was both a blessing and a.... blessing. It didn't take much time finding a Goblin and figuring out how much cash was in a vault... and then finding out there was more than one vault...

Excitement, Happiness, and a bit of giddiness Harry Potter signed papers with a flourish, content in the fact that not even Voldemort could obtain information from Goblins who held strict rules of privacy, especially to ones of Harry's new found wealth. "May I use your floo?"

The Goblin readily agreed, not liking much the scary glint in Harry Potter's eyes.

.

Boredom... oh how boring was Grimmuald Place! One can go mad! One can pace and mumble to self, similar to how our second example was doing, a Black, Sirius Black to be exact. He loved his godson, adored the boy, was willing to die for him, but even he had his moments of questioning his ... willingness to please.

"You want me to what?"

"Pack your stuff, fire call Remus, and get the hell out of this god-forsaken place."

Years of boredom confined to a cell and then adding months stuck in an ancestral home where the only company was a screeching portrait and an insane house elf - well, Sirius Black was a Marauder and if Prongs JR was on equal footing then why not leave for the remainder of the summer?

.

"Be still my beating heart." Remus exclaimed as he took a careful look around.

"Nice isn’t it?" Harry dropped his trousers and as he removed his shirt he made his way to the crystal clear warm water.

"Care for a bit of skinny dipping Moony?" Sirius asked as he himself stripped.

"Might as well." the werewolf dropped his own trousers. "Merlin help us if a fish thinks our bits are some sort of appetizer."

For the remainder of the stay on the island, Sirius refused to remove his underpants while he swam in the deep blue of the ocean.

And that my friends is how boredom became a thing of the past that summer... this new found freedom and summer tan was enough to drive our wonderful Dark Lord to insanity - leaving him a babbling fool before becoming a vegetable.

The End.

A/N: A simple one... should I mention this was written and finished in oh... 2005? Just found it so I decided better late than never, lol.
