Random Acts of Lucius-ness

“You have to do something about this Severus.”

“What? What do you expect me to do? The man has been my best friend for over half my life. To turn away his gifts would be the ultimate insult. I won't figuratively slap him in the face just because you're uncomfortable when he gives us house elf service for an evening or two.”

“Fine Severus. Just because we accept the gift, it doesn't mean I have to like it.”

“I'm glad you feel that way. Now, where were we?” Severus asked as he sank further into their shared, elf-drawn bath.

“Severus! What is the meaning of this? Tickets to the opera? Lucius knows you have that conference and can't go. What was he thinking? These are expensive seats. He can't get his money back for them since we can't attend.”

“Well, he knows you've been wanting to see the revival of La Boheme. He'll gladly escort you in my stead.”

“I'm not certain I'm entirely comfortable with that.”

“You've nothing to worry about. Lucius is the consummate gentleman. You'll have an excellent time with him.”

“Alright Severus. If you say so. But it had better be an evening to remember.”

That weekend as Lucius escorted Hermione home from the opera...

“I had such a marvelous time, Lucius. Thank you.”

“But the night is still young. More fun to be had, mischief to make.” Lucius brought Hermione closer to him.

“Lucius, please don't. I'm with your friend, Severus. I couldn't betray him like this. It wouldn't be right.”

“But it's not a betrayal if he knows about it.”

“What do you mean?” Hermione asked, taken aback.

“I mean, Severus understands my motivations. Don't you Severus?”

“Absolutely Lucius” Severus said, stepping into the room. “If Hermione's agreeable, by all means, let's proceed.”
