As the figure stands at the mouth of an Alpine cave, he takes a moment to bask in what he was about to accomplish. Recruiting had been only a secondary reason why he hadn't gone on a full out offensive against those that opposed him. No, he needed to find something that would guarantee him the boy's defeat. The boy's death was all he could think about ever since he'd gotten back into his current body. Of course, things were looking up for the self titled Dark Lord. The old man, Potter's shield, was dead. Granted, the spawn of his once trusted right hand was supposed to do the deed, but that could be taken care of later. Lord Voldemort enters the cave. The harsh cold that the cave suffered from didn't reach the triple charmed robes the red eyed malevolent wizard wore. He looks around noting all the ice around the walls, floor, and ceiling. According to the text that he 'acquired', the current resident of this particular cave had her own elemental powers turned against her, but it took the magical prowess equal to all four founders and Merlin himself.
'Gods..., bah, just a bunch of elementals and wizards thinking they could have fun with the muggles. But the text never divulged any specific reason why they took out this particular elemental mage. All that was known was that she had been cast out of Themyscira by Antiope. After being exiled from her people, this Jadis made her way all the way to what is now called Japan. She learned both swordsmanship and wizardry from someone named Muramasa. Muramasa were a family of sword crafters and the first one of the bloodline also was a wand maker. She returned only to discover that her people had up and left. Before she could decide what to do next, she was attacked by those that the foolish mudbloods had elevated to godhood. She's somewhere in this cave frozen. And her wand will be mine.' Voldemort thinks as he continues to make his way through the cave. Then, his red eyes light up as he sees a gold wand sitting on a pedestal. 'That's it! I must be cautious. An item of this much magical power might be protected.' He approaches the pedestal. He withdraws his own wand and places it on the ground. 'I'll keep my wand here, just in case it tries to destroy mine while I'm holding both wands.' He slowly reaches and raps his hand around the metal wand. The wand starts emitting a gold light. A second later, a blast of gold light knocks the self proclaimed Dark Lord down to the cold ground. Voldemort stands back up now holding his own wand. He watches as the gold wand floats in midair and performs a slashing motion. Stranger still was the fact that he wasn't the target, but a wall of ice fifteen feet away from the pedestal. A large crack opens up and the wall shatters. Embedded in the ice was a tall figure, apparently female. Her height was the formally frozen Amazon's most impressive feature. Her hand reaches out and her wand finds its way to its mistress's hand. Long, slender fingers grip the handle of the wand. Her ice blue eyes open to stare back at Voldemort's red ones. Fire erupts around her turning the ice into steam.
'I guess I'll have to do this the hard way.' "Crucio!" In retaliation, the witch flicks her wand and a gold wave crashes into the cruciatus curse. Both spells hurdle themselves back at Voldemort who doesn't have time to dodge. The scream that the Dark Lord utters echoes throughout the cave. He rives on the ground for several moments until the effects of the spell wear off.
"I see that even Merlin's teachings have been perverted." The witch calmly states.
"What..., was..., that?" He struggles to ask.
"It isn't any sort of spell that Merlin or anyone after him came up with. It's one of my wand's special abilities."
"Your wand can send spells back at the caster with a little extra power thrown in. Now I really want that wand."
"You must defeat me if you want it, but it still might kill you even if you pry it from my dead flesh."
"How do you understand what I'm saying anyway? You've been frozen since before the middle Ages started. You couldn't know the English language."
"My magic allows me to know what you're saying."
"A translation spell? I saw no spell cast."
"Fool, you still think in Merlin's terms. Mages have lost the sense of magical will over the centuries I was imprisoned in this cave. My will dictates what I want my magic to do. I control magic like I control the elements."
"Impressive, let's see how you handle this..., avada kedavra!" The dreaded green spell hurdles its way towards the elemental witch. She makes the same slashing motion and the gold wave crashes into the killing curse. Voldemort's eyes widen for a moment as the gold spell turns the same green as the curse he had just thrown. He then smirks seeing the curse still heading for its target. Jadis dodges and the spell hits another wall of ice, shattering it.
"I didn't think Merlin or anyone could come up with a powerful enough curse to turn my wand's ability against it."
"Merlin wouldn't have come up with such a useful curse."
"You seem to enjoy that particular spell."
"Killing those unworthy of life is what I enjoy most."
"I used to be like that, but I learned the hard way that all life is precious."
"Enough of your sentimentality." Voldemort hisses.
"Let's see, how you did it, ah yes, avada kedavra!" Voldemort Apparates behind her in an attempt to kill her, but he feels a powerful bolt of lightning throw him out of the cave.
"For a mage that uses Merlin's teachings' you certainly don't die easily."
"Death, his agents, and I are old adversaries. You are more powerful than any of the texts suggest. I must concede to you for now, but don't think I won't be back." Voldemort states and vanishes in a pop.
'Like I'll be caught here. I must go see a certain goblin royal about acquiring the necessary things I'll need to survive in this time.' and with that thought, she vanishes in a crack of lightning.
