chapter 1
Go With Her
“Father, Father” Draco called through his home.
“Yes, Draco what is it? Why are you shouting?” asked Lucius.
Walking into his father’s study Draco relaxed knowing he would be able to talk to his father about what is going on. Though his father doesn't approve of the relationship that he has with Hermione, he hope’s his father will still be able to give good advice on the situation he put himself into.
Regardless of what others thought about the Malfoy family, they were very close. All Draco’s parent’s wanted for their only son was for him to be happy. They did not need to know all the detail’s. So when he came into the room very upset Lucius told him to take a seat and tell him what was wrong and they would work it out together.
“Hermione is leaving. I don’t know what I will do without her. Tell me what to do.” Draco pleaded.
"Has she already left you Draco?" Lucius asked
"No. She just said that she was. I panicked and came here for advice. Tell me what to do, Please Dad." Draco said in an almost begging manor.
Lucius looked at his son for a moment and thought, then said the only thing he could “ Son, I am sorry you and Hermione aren’t getting along and if she is set on leaving you boy, then why is she not already gone?”
Draco thought about this. Hermione said she was leaving but hadn’t left yet. He tried to think about what he should do to make her stay.
Seeing the look on his son’s face Lucius knew he was thinking of what he should do. Lucius said. “ You might want to sweet talk her use the old Malfoy charm. Because by the look on you face if she leaves you, I promise you your going to miss her, and I know what I would do if your mother left me, I would pack up my things and go with her.”
“ You make it sound so easy. “ Draco was thinking that Hermione would just leave and never look back. How was he going to go with her.
“Draco can you live without her?”
“ NO!” He said so quick his father was actually a little shocked.
“Could you live your life with someone else if you had to?”
Draco looked at Lucius like he had no idea who he was. “Of course not, why would you even ask that?”
Taking a deep breath Lucius spoke “ Son, listen to me you don’t stay with the one you can live with, it’s the one you can’t live without. It’s the one that has you torn up in pieces, the one you keep talking about, the one you keep crying over. Look pride is tough to swallow it will leave cold and bitter, but most of all alone. So what you need to do if she is going to leave you is pack up and go with her.”
“I just don’t think I can, it will be like I am the one running after her. You always told me Malfoy’s do not run after woman we let them come to us. Now you are saying that I should.” at this point Draco was so confused, everything his father told him about women was being tossed away, it was just well...odd.
“Son I gave you my advise. Now if you love her as much as I think you do you are a fool if she gets away. She is a witch she can go anywhere that she wants to. Don’t give up on her, don’t let her leave you.” He said this hoping his son would listen.
As he was thinking about what to do he heard a soft noise from the door. He looked over to see his mother standing in the doorway. She looked like she wanted to say something but kept her mouth shut.” Do you have anything to add mother that would be helpful?” Draco finally asked.
Narcissa frowned at her son. She knew what was going on. She had gotten an owl from Hermione telling her that she was leaving, that Draco had said some things that were out of line. She didn’t tell her where she was going, but she said she would owl her again soon. She looked at Lucius “ Tell him” was all she said before walking away.
“Tell me what?”
“Tell you that when your mother left me I followed her. Not to force her to come back mind you.....I knew I could never live without her by my side. I sucked up my pride and moved with her.” Lucius said quietly with his head down.
“ I never knew. You never mentioned this before.”
“Why would I. It was not something you needed to know, now it seems that you do need to know. I said things to your mother that should never have even been thought. She was leaving, hell she left. It took me a long time to find her, but when I did she forgave me. Do you know why she showed me forgiveness Draco? Lucius questioned.
“Because you followed her. You were willing to go with her?” It was more of a statement than a question, and Lucius just gave a curt nod of the head. “You did the same thing I did, but will you do the same thing I did to fix it?” he asked.
Draco just looked at his father, and all he could think was ‘I just don’t think I can fix this that easily’ The more he thought of her the more he knew he needed her, to be with her.
“Thank you father. I’m going to go see if I can fix this.” Draco stated firmly.
