Chapter 1

~Chapter 1~

Ginny sipped on the martini dry that she made soon as she walked in the door from work. Today had been a day from hell and all she wanted to do was relax. As the Daily Prophet’s number 1 advice columnist, Ginny could not have asked for the better job. She was getting paid a huge amount of gallons every two weeks just to be the fiery red head that she was by nature.

Ginny Weasley, or Ms. Red, to her columnists gave advice on everything from what to do when your boyfriend of 15 years leaves you to how to keep your wizard happy in the bedroom. Her latest column featured a woman who found out that her husband’s lover was her best friend. Merlin she would hate to be that husband’s lover right now. Serves that cow right though. The advice that Ginny gave her caused her to chuckle. Damn, she was good.

Looking back down at the magazine in her lap, she silently wondered when her boyfriend would be home. Her boss yelled at her about censoring herself in her column. When Ginny flat out refused to even consider censoring herself, her boss yelled at her and sent her home for the day. Merlin, Blaise needed to hurry up and get home.

A loud thunk snapped Ginny out of the magazine that she had been staring at. ‘What the hell,’ she thought as she heard the noise again. Ginny ran out of her bedroom and down the steps to the front door. Someone was beating on the door. Grabbing her wand, she approached the door cautiously. “Who is it,” she asked.

No one answered but the pounding on the door increased. Whoever it was certainly heard her. “I said, who the bloody hell is banging on my door?!”

The beating stopped abruptly. It was so sudden that it scared Ginny. She looked through the peep whole to try and see who was there, but nobody answered. A thunk against the door made Ginny jump back as if she were dodging a hex. She heard a noise outside the door. ‘Is someone crying?’

Deciding not to take too many chances, Ginny backed away from the door and opened it with her wand. She was not prepared for Hermione to fall through the door on her hands and knees looking like a wild woman.

“What the hell, Hermione?! Oh Merlin, what happened?”

Ginny put her wand away in her pocket and reached out to touch her. Hermione jerked away from her touch as if she had been burned. The gesture hurt Ginny, but she couldn’t worry about that right now. She looked out the door and saw a car parked haphazardly in the driveway. In fact, the front wheel of the damn contraption was crushing her precious flowers, but that was neither here nor there now. Looking at the woman sprawled out in the middle of the floor right now, Ginny could tell that her day of peace was certainly ruined.

“Hermione, what the hell is wrong with you,” Ginny asked concerned.

Hermione stared up at her and the look in her eyes scared Ginny. The Hermione that Ginny knew was not present in those eyes. Ginny did not know who this person on her floor was, but it was not Hermione. Ginny reached out to her again, but Hermione scampered away from her in fright and knocked over her coat rack in the process.

When Hermione realized that she did this, she jumped in fright and got up and ran away. Ginny made up to follow her. Hermione saw this and ran faster, knocking things off tables, cabinets, and slipping on rugs. ‘I think she’s gone mental.’

Finally, Hermione came to rest a few minutes later….under the dining room table. ‘Enough is enough.’ Ginny quickly snatched Hermione from under her dining room table and slapped her across the face.

“Hermione, what the fuck is wrong you?”

Hermione’s eyes cleared up slightly before she broke down in sobs. “He said he’s leaving.”

Ginny sat down on the floor beside her and pulled her close. Hugging her and rubbing her hair as she cried in Ginny’s lap. “Who’s leaving,” Ginny asked.

“Viktor. He’s leaving me.”

“Calm down Hermione and tell me what happened.”

“We got into an argument and he said that he’s leaving me. He had an affair Ginny. That bastard had a fucking affair.”

“Viktor did what?!”

“He had a fucking affair. After all I’ve done for him. He had an affair and he told me he’s leaving. Ginny what am I supposed to do?”

“Mione, there is no reason why you should be acting like this over a man. Get yourself together.”

Hermione popped up and grabbed Ginny by her shoulders. “Ginny you don’t understand. This is my husband! What the hell am I supposed to do without him? He’s my husband!”

“I know Hermione, just calm down we will get this all straightened out.”

“We have to Ginny. I can’t lose my husband. You’re an advice columnist help me. I need him.”

Ginny wanted to tell Hermione that she didn’t need that bastard, but that wasn’t what Hermione wanted to hear right now. None of them agreed with Hermione marrying Viktor, but she was so happy none of them would dare say anything against it. Ginny was starting to wish that she had.

Hermione got up and began to pace across the dining room. She was mumbling to herself. Ginny called her name and Hermione’s head snapped to look at her. “Leave me the fuck alone you demon.”

Ginny looked at her confused. “What?”

“You’re the demon that’s been staring at me. I’ve ignored you for the past couple of months, but I’ve seen you. Taunting me and laughing at me. All you have been laughing at me day and night. Even when I close my eyes, you’re still there. I’m telling you to stop it right now!”

“Oh hell no,” Ginny ran to the other room while Hermione continued to rant about demons. She threw some floo powder into the fireplace and screamed her destination.

“Madame Pomphrey!” She ran through the infirmary screaming her name until the woman appeared out of her office.

“Miss Weasley, what is wrong,” she asked as she approached the screaming red head.

“It’s Her-,” Ginny stopped and decided to not reveal Hermione’s current state of mind. It was not her business to tell, and she was sure that Hermione didn’t want her business out in the air. Madame Pomphrey was waiting for an answer.

“I need a calming potion please.”

“Miss Weasley, surely that is not the reason that you have been running and screaming through my infirmary like a chicken with your head cut off!”

“I’m sorry Madame Pomphrey. It’s just that I’ve been having these dreams for the past couple of nights. I’ve been reliving the war and that part where…well you know, and I really need something to calm me down. I can’t keep reliving it over and over again Madame. It’s too much,” Ginny cried. If her boss decided to fire her from the newspaper, she would really consider a career in acting.

“Shhhh, dear girl. I understand. Let me get you a few vials, and I’ll even give you some sleepless dream potion also.”

“Thank you so much,” Ginny said as the nurse scuttled off to get the potions. A few minutes later, Madame Pomphrey put a few vials of the potion in her hand and closed it.

“Now dear, if you need some more just let me know. You may have graduated, but I still care about you a lot. By the way, how is Hermione dear?”

Speaking of Hermione, “Madame Pomphrey I have to go. Blaise should be at home by now, and he will get concerned if I’m not there to meet him.”

“Well all right dear.” She hugged the nurse and flooed back to her house.

Hermione was sitting in the corner of the living room with her knees pulled in tight to her chest. She was rocking back and forth, mumbling to herself. Her hair was standing up everywhere on top of her head as if she had raked her hands continuously through it. Ginny pulled the cork out of the vial and ran over to her.

“Hermione drink this,” she said as she pushed the vial towards her lips.

Hermione looked at her with angry eyes. “Get away from me you damn demon! I know you’re trying to poison me and it won’t work. I know that you’re trying split Viktor and I up, but it won’t work. All of you demons have been plotting since the day we got together. It won’t fucking work,” Hermione screamed as she slapped the vial out of Ginny’s hands.

While the carpet prevented the vial from breaking, it didn’t stop the potion from spilling. “Bloody hell, Hermione! I really hate to do this again,” and with that she slapped Hermione again. Before she had time to protest, Ginny pushed the vial of calming draught down her throat and held her nose and mouth until Hermione swallowed it.

“Now that is out of the way, what the hell is going on with you?”

Hermione felt calmer all over and stopped rocking. “Ginny, he had an affair, and when I confronted him about it, he told me he was leaving.”

“Mione, it’s okay. Calm down we will get this straightened out. I promise, just calm down. You should not be falling in my door, and acting like the Hounds of Hell are after you because of some man! I don’t give a damn if he is your husband.”

Hermione started crying again and shaking her head. “That’s not the worse part Ginny. He said he’s taking the kids.”

Ginny stared at her with her mouth open. “He said he’s doing what?”

“He’s taking the kids and leaving.”

“Hermione, you’re the one supporting him. How the hell is he going to leave with the kids. One of which is not his by blood. Cassandra’s father would kill Viktor before Viktor could even think twice about running off with her.”

“He said he’s going to take them back to Bulgaria, and they could live with his parents. He’s going to leave me Ginny. He’s going to take them away, and I will never see them again. Ginny, don’t let him take them away. Ginny, don’t let him leave me like they did. I can’t deal with it again.”

Ginny knew exactly who they were, but she didn’t need to dwell on that now. “Hermione, Viktor is not going anywhere. Your kids are not going anywhere. Speaking of which, where are the kids?”

“I left them at home with Viktor.”

“You did what? Hermione, he tells you that he is going to take your kids and go to Bulgaria, and you let him. I don’t know who the hell you are, but you are not the Hermione Jean Granger, that I know.”

“My last name is Krum.”

“I don’t give a damn what your last name is now. I know you as Hermione Granger. What the fuck where you thinking leaving your kids at home with that man, especially after ya’ll just had a fight. Get the hell up right now and go get your kids. When you’ve done that, then come back here so we can straighten this out. Hermione you never ever leave your kids with a man who just threatened to take them away from you. He even confessed that he had an affair with them and you left them there? Get your shit together and go back to your house. You are the woman of the house. You are paying the bills and taking care of everything for that man. You don’t leave your house, he is one who gets his shit and gets out!”

Hermione nodded and got up off the floor. She ran her hands through her hair and straightened her clothes. She nodded and made her way towards the door. “You’re right Ginny.”

“I know I’m right. Now go, get your kids, and come back here.”

Hermione kept nodding and opened the door as if she didn’t hear Ginny. She opened the door and walked out towards the car. She backed out the driveway and drove off. Ginny closed the door and ran to send an owl off to the one person who might be able to handle Hermione in this kind of situation. Merlin, she prayed Draco was home, and where the hell was Blaise?
