Secrets Aren't Forever

Finally, Friday afternoon. This week has been quite exhausting for Aleina, seeing as how her insomnia kicked back in at full force. She felt terrible. So drained and lifeless, but somehow pushed herself through the week. All that was left now was Advanced Potions and she could relax for the rest of the weekend. And with only two hours left of classes, Aleina's exhaustion grew more and more apparent with every passing minute.

Aleina drug her way into the Potions classroom and sluggishly took her normal seat next to Hermione who, of course, had her head buried in a book and wasn't even aware of Aleina's presence. Aleina let out a long sigh and let her head fall upon the cold table in front of her. Normally a hard wood table wouldn't be her first choice of desired comfort, but at this point in time, she really just didnt care.

Her wavy brown hair was tied back in a messy ponytail and her normally glistening green eyes were swollen and almost dead looking. Hermione glanced over and let out an exasperated sigh as she saw what a mess Aleina looked.

"Aleina, you look absolutley terrible!" Hermione said defiantly. she closed her book and layed it down gently on the table.

"I feel terrible, Hermione." Aleina replied back. Her words were slightly slurred and her voice was low and weak. "And on top of feeling terrible i didn't find the time to write the essay that Professor Snape assigned at the beginning of the week."

Hermione rolled her eyes and went back to her book. She opened it to the previous page. Although it looked like she was reading, Aleina could tell by the expression on her face that she was thinking, and not reading. With some effort Aleina picked her head up off the table and looked at Hermione.

"What's wrong Hermione?" She questioned in a slightly irritated tone. Hermione looked at her for a few seconds, gathering her response.

"It's just that, you never do any of your work and I honestly hope that you don't believe your passing right now. I mean, I'm not sure if you've realized it yet but Professor Snape is a down right foul git. He won't excuse you from any of your missed work, and I truly don't think there's enough time for you to get passing marks this year," Hermione respsonded in a quiet voice.

Aleina opened her mouth in order to retaliate to Hermione's accusing statement but was abruptly stopped when she heard the slamming of the dungeon door. She quickly turned her head away from Hermione and focused on the front of the classroom.

Professor Snape strode in the classroom in his normal manor. A sour expression upon his pale face. Black robes billowing out behind hiim as he swept up the isle. None of the Gryffindors, or even Slytherin's dared to look at him when he first entered. When he reached the front of the class, he faced the students and scowled at them, striking fear onto the faces of some.

"Turn to page 849," He barked with absolutley to sensitivity in his voice. "While you read over the brief introductory chapter I will be around to collect your essays due today. I want absolute silence, one word from any of you and it will be detention for the weekend." Snape finished.

Hermione and Aleina glanced at each other and swallowed hard. Hermione began to read the introductory chapter on Revealing Secrets. While Aleina sat, staring at the front of the room, unable to even comprehend what the Professor had said. She felt so tired, so so tired. If only she could take a short nap. Just rest her eyes for a bit and take a break. In her daydreams of sleep, she had not noticed the Professor next to her with his hand held out waiting impatiently for Aleina's essay. It wasn't until Hermione gave her a slight tap on the leg, did she realize what was going on. She looked at the Professor confusedly.

"Miss Tempest I haven't got all day to wait on you while you stare dimwittedly at nothing. Your essay...NOW!" His words grew more sharp and intense as he neared the end of his sentence. All the students were now staring at her and holding heir breath, awaiting what would happen next.

"I don't have the essay, Professor Snape," Aleina admitted in a rather dull and uniterested tone. She had never been the type of girl to cower in any circumstance. She had all the courage and rage of a Gryffindor, and it was made quite clear due to the amount of detentions she had accumulated during her time at Hogwarts.

"I see, and Miss Tempest, is there any particular reason that my essay is not completed?" Snape questioned her. His voice was low and his anger was becoming apparent. Aleina looked him dead in the eyes. His stared seemed to burn entriely through her body and into her mind, yet she still refused to look away.

"I didnt' have time to do the essay, Professor," Aleina replied with a long and irritating sigh. She wished that he didnt have to be so cruel. All she wanted was for him to walk away without saying another word to her and that be that. But half the time, Aleina thought that he purposely irritates her just to see her become angry and start a fight. At least that way if Longbottum doesn't screw up a potion, or if Harry Potter doesn't act out in glory, he would always have some way to deduct at least 10 points a day from Gryffindor.

"10 points from Gryffindor," He barked "For the lack of time management displayed by Miss Tempest here." Groans came from the Gryffindor side of the classroom, while Aleina could clearly here laughter from the Slytherin side.

Professor Snape said nothing more, and continued around the room, collecting all the essays. When he finally finished he walked back to the front of the classroom and neatly stacked the essays on his desk. Then quickly turned back around to face the classroom.

"Today, we will be brewing a 'Concealment Detection' potion. Pages 853 will give you a list of all the proper ingredients, and you may find the ingredients in the closet. You will have the rest of the period." Snape hissed.

"Oh fuck," Aleina whispered under her breath. Hermione looked over at her with a confused face, waiting for an explaination.

A/N: Just to briefly summarize a few things for the plots sake. Aleina Tempest came to Hogwarts from an American wizarding school in the 4th year. Harry, Ron, and Hermione naturally took her as another friend. More about her personality will be revealed later. Smut soon to come, not sure when because all the chapters take an undecided turn when I start righting. Please review and let me know what you think so far, I know it isnt much yet, but anything would be appreciated. Thank you.
