Chimera - Chapter 1
Emerald green eyes snapped to attention as the seventeen year old girl focused herself on two of her three parents. Obsidian eyes that belonged to her second father locked on her and she smirked, nodding, "I understand what I must do."
The two men smiled wickedly, the shorter of the two pulling her close. He kissed her forehead, "Our future, your future, is in your hands, Chimera." His voice was raspy, almost snake-like.
She bowed, "I will not fail you." Stepping back from the two, she closed her eyes. Two jets of purple light struck her chest. One from the wand of each man, and she was gone.
-Nineteen Years Prior-
There was a soft thud, closely followed by a light grunt as Chimera landed in a pile of cut grass not too far away from a place she knew of only in her nightmares.
Hogwarts.
Picking herself up from the ground, she shuddered before making herself look far less than presentable. With a wave of her wand, she conjured a mirror, studying her appearance thoroughly.
The face of a 'greasy git', fingers and frame similar to that of a certain Dark Lord, and the eyes of a Mudblood. It was lucky her hair was a deep burgundy streaked with orange or they might get smart.
Satisfied, she got rid of the mirror, trudging towards the castle, forging back a growl as it drew near, having to remind herself why she was doing this.
It would be an understatement to say that Headmaster Albus Dumbledore was shocked to see the heavy wooden doors of the Enterance Hall fly open, even more so when he saw the lithe young woman who had done it.
However, when she wavered on her feet, he rushed over, "My child, are you alright?" The only response he received was a light groan before she passed out.
The aged man sighed, supporting the unconscious girl as he made his way to the hospital wing. A meeting with his colleagues was in order.
Severus Snape was not particularly happy to be called from his slumber, especially not for what he was faced with.
Chimera had woken to find herself in a bed in the Hogwarts hospital wing, surrounded by the Headmaster and the four House Heads. She looked at none but Snape, glaring at him defiantly.
Dumbledore sighed, clearing his throat to get her attention. She turned her gaze to him, raising a perfect brow. "My dear, could you tell us who you are and why exactly you are here?"
She nodded, inwardly smirking as she said softly, "My name is Chimera. I don't know how I got here."
Dumbledore nodded, "And how old are you, my dear?"
She bit her lip, "Seventeen."
Severus watched her with a frown. Something wasn't right about this girl. He was so lost in his thoughts that he hadn't realized the headmaster was now speaking to him.
He shook his head lightly, "Could you repeate that?"
Dumbledore chuckled, "I entrust her to you, Severus."
The next day dawned early, much to Snape's dismay. He was however, pleasantly surprised to find the girl cleaned up and waiting for him. She bowed low at his approach, keeping her eyes on him.
Severus still felt that something was off about her, but he kept it to himself, or rather he would have had she not straightened and locked eyes with him, her voice even and much more confidant than it had been the night before as she said, "You can't stand it, can you? You know that there is more to me than meets the eye, but you just can't place it. I'm right, aren't I?"
He growled lightly, scowling at the girl who just chuckled. "Tonight you will be summoned. He will give you a task. I am here to make sure you complete it," she informed him.
His scowl deepened as he pushed past her to exit his private quarters, muttering something along the lines of, "Insolent girl."
She first saw him-her reason for being here-in tears by the lake. Unlike so many of the people who had tried to comfort him, she actually cared, at least a little bit.
Quietly she approached him, slowly sitting in front of him on her knees and patiently waiting on him to look up at her. When he finally did, she smiled sympathetically. "I used to cry like that."
He sniffled a little, wiping his eyes. He shifted nervously before he asked, "Who are you?"
She smiled a little more, "My name is Chimera, and I am your savior."
