I’m sure that it has escaped your attention, but the Malfoy family name is one of honor and pride. It is one that I’m sure you will be happy to align yourself.

Meet me at the Leaky Cauldron at 5:00 p.m. so that we can complete the Veela mating ritual. to discuss issues between us.

Forever yours,
Always your lover,
My heart can wait no longer

Malfoy

Draco looked at the clock as he paced the secluded dining room in the Leaky Cauldron. He looked around again at the room he had just finished decorating. He had placed lilies in vases along the tables on the side of the room and a vase of roses in the middle of the table where they would dine. The china he had picked out had been in the family for years and used every time someone in his family was to have this discussion with their future mate. It was pure white with a ring of silver around the edges of the plates. If you looked close enough you could see the engraved line was actually tiny feathers interwoven along the edges. The pure white candles cast a romantic glow in the room completing the perfect place for a first dinner.

He sighed and continued to pace. He had not received word back from Potter, no, Harry, on whether he would show up. Draco took the chance and created a romantic atmosphere.

The grandfather clock in the other room chimed the hour. Draco felt himself ready to perspire, but that was not fitting to a Malfoy. Malfoys never sweat. He straightened his tie one last time and looked towards the door as it opened.

Tom ushered Harry into the room. Draco’s eyes met Harry’s and he stopped breathing. He had forgotten how beautiful he was. Those eyes captured his soul. His heart was pounding as his former enemy stepped into the room. Tom closed the door quietly as he walked back out of the room. “Harry.” He whispered, barely feeling the word as it left his mouth.

“Malfoy.” Harry nodded his head and walked into the room, somewhat confidently. “I hope I’m not interrupting a date, but you did say five in your note.”

Draco managed to get a hold of himself. His heart was still fluttering and his palms were becoming very moist. “No, no. There isn’t a date. I just wanted to talk to you in a nice setting over a lovely meal. It isn’t a date.”

Harry raised an eyebrow. It was not like Malfoy to stumble over himself. Granted, it wasn’t like him to want to talk to Harry Potter either. “Okay, so this isn’t a date and you wanted to talk. Let’s talk.” He walked over to the table and sat down, looking expectantly at Malfoy.

Draco took a deep breath and walked to the table. He sat down across from the other man without breaking his eye contact. “So, I was just thinking we need a truce.”

Harry looked at him skeptically. “You sent me an owl for a truce?”

Draco felt his cheeks flush. “Well, Malfoy’s must do things in style. Why would I ask for a truce by owl? Why would I want to just shake hands with you on a train, when I can wine and dine you?”

Harry laughed. “You will never change, will you, Malfoy?”

Draco felt his feathers getting ruffled at that statement. “Obviously I have changed, Harry. I have yet to pull my wand to hex you for being rude.”

Harry stood up. “I guess this means that I shall leave. I would hate to impose my rude self upon the likes of you.” He turned and started walking to the door.

“Harry! Wait!” Draco said quickly. He jumped up and grabbed Harry’s hand. He felt the magic sizzle around them as he touched him. If he had not already known that Harry was his mate, that would have confirmed it.

“What was that?” Harry demanded from the intense shock of the touch.

Draco ran a hand through his hair. “It is what I need to talk to you about. Please, Harry, please sit down. I’m sorry.”

Harry looked at him for a minute with a strange expression. “I think you have a lot to explain, Malfoy.” He moved back to the table and sat down, not taking his eyes off the blond in front of him.

Draco opened the bottle of wine and poured a glass for each of them. “I have a feeling that I may need something stronger in a few minutes.”

Harry just nodded as he took the glass.

Draco took a deep breath and closed his eyes. He got down on one knee and took Harry’s hands in his letting his magic sooth him. “I don’t even know where to begin.” He looked up into the startled green eyes. “I’m sorry for all the things I have done to you over the years. I’m sorry that I have been a right prat. I’m sorry that I couldn’t be someone that you would want to be with.”

Harry opened his mouth to speak, but Draco stopped him. “I’m sorry for everything. This is so hard for me to say. I had a speech written out, but I can’t even remember the first word of it. All I know right now is that you are my mate and I need you more than life itself. My heart is breaking because of the enmity between us. I can’t stand to be away from you now. Now that we have touched, I will always feel you when you are not here. I will feel your emotions. It is something that I can’t bear alone. I need you and I…I just…my life revolves around you. It always has.”

Harry stared into the blue eyes gazing up at him. He could swear that he had just heard a confession of love from Draco, but that wouldn’t be right. That had to be wrong. “Did I just hear what I think I did?”

Draco closed his eyes and laughed softly. “I’m practically proposing to the Wonder Boy and he still doesn’t get it! What else am I suppose to say? I just don’t think you would say yes if I said lets get married so this pain will go away. I thought you would definitely prefer to be friends so you can find out you like me. Tell me what you need to hear and I will say it, if only to get you in my life.”

“Yes.”

“Yes?” Draco looked at Harry, who had a bemused look upon his face. “Yes to what?”

“Yes, I’ll marry you.” Harry replied casually like he was responding to an invitation to tea.

“Yes?” Draco couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “How can you just say yes? How can you not want to torment me first? How can you…”

“Draco, shut up and kiss me or give me a ring or something. Don’t you realize that I knew you were a Veela? I read between the lines. Which means I made a choice by showing up today.”

Draco still looked completely confused. “But why would you even agree before getting to know the real me?”

Harry laughed and pulled Draco up to a standing position. “I’ve been watching you for years. I think I do know you and I can’t wait to get to know this new side.” He leaned his head in and kissed Draco softly letting the magic swirl around their bodies. “Besides, you are the only person I have ever felt sparks from,” he added with a grin.
