I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Prologue
Disclaimer: I don’t own anything related to Harry Potter. Sure wish I did though. LOL.
Summary: Hermione and Severus grow closer while working on her 7th year potions project. With the war winding down, will their feelings get them through, or be the their demise? R/R
Author's Note: I just want to point out that at times the characters will be out of character. If that bothers you, then don't read. You are hearby warned. Any flames will be deleated.

War…Love…What’s the Difference?
Prologue
“You’re nothing more than a cold, heartless, excuse of a man!” Hermione yelled.
“Always the know-it-all. You think you have me completely figured out don’t you? Think again Miss Granger,” Severus replied as he leaned against his desk.
Hermione and Severus just glared at one another. It was the end of Hermione’s 6th year. Because of her grades, she spent her entire 6th year potions class doing research for her 7th year potions project and helping Severus grade first and second year papers. Surprisingly, she was just as critical at grading as Severus was, maybe a bit more.
“Why can’t you just admit that my theory is solid and very much possible to brew? Even the Headmaster said it could be done,” she asked.
“Because this theory should only be done by a qualified Potions Master or Mistress. You are hardly a Potions Mistress,” he answered with a sneer.
“Well, the Headmaster approved it and he has the final say. Not you,” she shot back.
“Then I want a contract absolving me of all responsibility when you blow yourself to hell and back,” he growled.
Hermione walked over to his desk and slammed a piece of parchment down on his desk. Severus looked down. It was indeed a contract with both Hermione and Albus’ signature and a place for Severus to sign as well.
“There it is,” she said.
Hermione gasped as Severus grabbed her, pulled her against him, and did the last thing she ever expected…he kissed her. Hermione quickly returned the kiss. Her fingers threading in his hair, as Severus clutched her tightly.
They pulled apart and just stared at each other for a moment. Slowly, Severus released her. Hermione turned and walked calmly from the classroom. Severus let out a breath as the door closed behind her.
“Well done Miss Granger,” he whispered.
Severus grabbed a quill and signed the contract. The original vanished and a copy appeared in its place. He didn’t doubt that a copy of the contract appeared in Hermione’s room. With a heavy sigh, he exited his classroom and entered his study.
