To Enchant a King

Warning….This story is extremely AU/AR….It is also extremely non-canon. Please do not flame me…For you have been warned!

A/N: For all intents and purposes, Hermione is 17, Narcissa 19 and Sirius is 21. Lucius is 26, I have changed the ages to fit in better with my story - I know some of you will disagree with the changes I have made but this is my own take on a story that involves these characters.

A/N 2: This story DOES contain magic...but it comes in at later chapters, and yes Lucius IS a wizard LOL

Thanks to LadyBlueEyes for her Beta work on this chapter! Love ya doll!

TO ENCHANT A KING: CHAPTER ONE.

Lady Hermione Granger arrived by horse and carriage at the court of King Lucius II. She was accompanied by her brother, Lord Sirius Granger, and Lady Narcissa Granger, her sister. Together, they had traveled from their family home in Rochford, Essex.

As the carriage pulled into the receiving quarters of the palace of Westminster, Hermione remembered the sole purpose of which she had been brought to London. She was to help her sister become better acquainted with the King.

With the intentions to become his Mistress.

Hermione was helped out of the carriage by her brother Sirius and was greeted warmly by the Royal courtiers.

While the Ladies were escorted to the Queen’s chambers and Sirius was taken to the King’s, Hermione began to wonder what life would be like in the Royal court. His Majesty himself had sent for the noble Grangers and had done so with a purpose. Whether to add more people to his surrounding court, or for the further intent of meeting the family. Sirius had been extremely excited at the thought of serving the esteemed King Lucius.

Hermione, on the other hand, had waited with baited breath as she was lead to address Her Majesty, Queen Lucretia of Spain. It was said that she was the crowned Princess of Spain before she married King Lucius and that their marriage was not for love but for political gain.

Still they had produced one princess between them, but still no son. The king was rumored to be very distressed over this. After almost ten years of marriage the Queen had still not carried a son full term. Princess Bellatrix was the heir to the Royal throne.

Narcissa rambled on about how she planned to change all that and how she was going to give the King a strong, healthy son even if it killed her. Hermione was quick to remind her presumptuous sister that she hadn’t even met the King of England yet, let alone lay with him.

Narcissa scoffed at that remark, reminding her younger sister that she had the training of the French court and while her younger sister was a beautiful young woman, she was a sophisticated educated woman.

As the two sisters settled into their chambers for the night, they were joined by their brother Sirius who told them all about his meeting with the King. He regaled the pair with the story of how, the King of England had enquired about the Granger sisters and wanted to know all about them. Hermione thanked her lucky stars that night and wished she could prove her sister wrong about her tactless choice of words, for she too could be a well educated woman.

As dawn broke over Westminster Palace, Hermione was awoken by her sister’s out of tune humming. She sighed and rose to see her sister bathing in a large wooden tub. Her sister was obviously lost in her own day dreams as she hummed. Probably filled with thoughts of the King and how she could seduce him.

Hermione smiled, this was going to be something worth watching.

As ladies in waiting Hermione and Narcissa were expected to be with the Queen most hours of the day. Narcissa had already started to complain about how she had yet to meet the King and begin her seduction, and Hermione was secretly thankful for that. Not that she didn’t care greatly for her sister, but Narcissa had always, without fail, received whatever she wanted. Hermione hoped this time she would not be handed the prize so easily.

The pair were dressed in their finest as Sirius knocked on the door to their chambers, telling them they were to be brought before the Queen to be introduced to her Majesty.

As they were lead into the Queens chambers for the first time in the late afternoon, Hermione felt herself overcome by awe. The Queens chambers were ornately decorated in the finest gilded gold and encrusted with the most sparkling jewels. Hermione and Narcissa were lead to the front of the room and stood in anticipation of the emergence of the Queen of England. She did not disappoint.

As the Queen entered the room, all of her ladies including Hermione and Narcissa sank into a low curtsy which was what the Queen commanded silently as she walked. Hermione could feel greatness radiating from this woman, she eluded power and grace and was everything in Hermione’s eyes that a Queen should be.

The Queen sat regally on her Ruby encrusted throne and looked down upon them, her brown eyes oozing warmth, her body however remained stiff and straight backed.

“So you are the famous Granger sisters that I have heard so much about?” she said.

“Yes your Majesty.” said the pair in perfect timing.

“Very well,” she said as she addressed her lady’s, “You will today be accompanying me at the King’s annual spring dance, as today is the first day of the season,” she said coolly as she cast an eye over Narcissa.

“I expect nothing but excellent behavior from my ladies, do not let me down in front of your King, my husband,” she said as she stood and took to the small steps that adorned the lower half of her throne and descended gracefully.

She was the first one to be led to the door, and the Queen cast an eye over the room before she walked out of the door, smiling almost falsely as she left. The ladies trailed behind her keeping in step and rhythm with the Queen. Hermione heard Narcissa’s gasp of delight as the King came into view.

He was an extraordinarily handsome man in many ways; his hair was the color of sunlight itself. It flowed in shining blond waves down to below his shoulders; it shone in ways which did not need the sunlight to illuminate its sheer opulence.

His eyes were shockingly silver in color. As he laughed to his many courtiers they seemed to dance with life and expressiveness. They accented his aristocratic features which had been royally given and bestowed upon him. His face was free of worry and care and at only 26 he was still the picture of youth and virility. At least that was Narcissa hoped.

His stature was that of a king and so much more. He seemed to exude power and status. Much like his wife, his smile was as warm as his eyes; however shockingly beautiful he was, he still was the very picture of authority and rule.

Narcissa nudged her sister and hissed something under her breath obviously angered by Hermione’s incessant staring at her personal project.

Hermione was extremely aware of the King’s presence. As he approached them, his eyes never left their persons and his broad smile made her feel slightly nervous in the pit of her stomach. An underlying emotion flitted through her as the King’s eyes met hers.

He looked slightly dazed for a second before taking Narcissa’s hand and kissing it.

“Lady Narcissa, I presume?” he asked.

“Yes, Your Majesty.” she said as she smiled sweetly.

He let go of her hand and stood in front of Hermione, the glazed look returned to his eyes and he smiled warmly before taking her hand and kissing it softly.

“The other Lady Granger? My god this family is blessed with angels! But you by far are the sweetest.” he said as Hermione blushed.

She could feel Narcissa’s intense gaze as the King paid more attention to her than her sister.

“Yes, Your Majesty, I thank you for your kind words.” she said softly.

“Disregard them, Lady Hermione, for I can give you far kinder things than words.” he said with a smile.

Hermione felt a blush rising up her cheeks.

“It is delightful to see your reaction to me, it is almost intoxicating.” he laughed.

“Thank you, Your Grace.” she said as she became breathless.

The king kissed her hand once more and left her to carry out his annual spring dance.

Narcissa looked furiously at her sister.

“Do not forget who is to woo him, sister, and do not try to be an obstacle, for you will not succeed.” she warned.

Hermione danced merrily with her brother as Narcissa made eyes at the King. The Queen seemed to have her eyes trained to watch Narcissa’s every move, Hermione felt a strong surge of pity for the Queen, who did not seem to grasp how alluring Narcissa’s gaze could be.

Hermione knew Narcissa was right, though she had not been sent to reel the king in, Narcissa had. And as much as Hermione wanted to deny it, she knew that her sister could charm the birds from the trees if she tried to. That was Narcissa’s gift. She could get away with just about anything, and Hermione was sure that she would be able to charm the king.

Narcissa on the other hand was furious at her sister for trying to outshine her. She was the golden child of the family, and her brother had his rugged good looks and shining dark hair to match his eyes. While Hermione had golden brown curly lock and bright amber eyes to accompany her glorious curls. Narcissa on the other hand had soft blonde shoulder length hair and blue eyes. She thanked god for being the perfect being that she was.

Narcissa’s blue eyes shined when the king asked for her hand in a dance. She practically jumped from her seat into his arms and he found himself fighting the need to smirk.

“So tell me about life in the country, Lady Narcissa.” said King Lucius.

“Whilst I have grown up there, I much prefer the liveliness of court. It is much more exciting your Majesty.” she said sweetly as she glanced at her sister and brother who where unaware of her good fortune of having the King in her mitts.

She watched as her younger sister was parted from Sirius by a tall, dark haired, very handsome fellow, and then turned her attentions back to the King who was now watching the scene she had previously viewed. She watched as his eyes gave a slight flash as the man spun Hermione round, twirling the youngest Granger with ease, she too seemed to be enjoying the dance as much as gentleman was partnered with.

“Your sister is dancing with one of my closest courtiers, a Lord Thomas Riddle. He is a precocious fellow, who is extremely good at convincing those who have something he wants to part with it. I do hope your sister is not susceptible to his charm.” he said still smiling.

Narcissa smiled sweetly.

“Hermione will be overjoyed to hear that Your Grace is concerned for her safety.” she said, her voice never showing any of the sheer fury that she was feeling.

As the song ended the King kissed Narcissa’s hand and bid her farewell.

The King stalked over with grace and speed toward Hermione who was standing alone. Fanning herself with her bare hand because the gentleman had knocked the wind out of her and she was outrageously overheated. She felt her stomach drop as the king came toward her, his bright smile aimed directly at her. She dropped a curtsy and he lifted her hand to his mouth as she rose.

“Good evening, Lady Hermione.” he smiled.

“Good evening, Your Majesty. How are you enjoying this evening?” she asked as he led her to the dance floor.

“I find myself enjoying it more now I am in your company.” he replied.

“The feeling is mutual, Your Grace.” she smiled.

“I confess myself drawn to you Lady Hermione, like a moth to a flame.” he proclaimed.

“Your Majesty, please don’t come too close to the flame for I do not wish for you to burn.” she said.

“What if I wanted to burn for you, Lady Hermione? Would you allow it? Would you burn for me as I burn for you?” he asked.

Hermione whimpered at his words, his grip on her waist increased greatly as the sound left her mouth.

“I would burn for you, Your Majesty, as I would do anything your Majesty asks.” she said.

He laughed softly.

“You are a very special woman Lady Granger, Like a blossoming flower in springtime. Your innocence blooms within and radiates so that no one but I can see.” he said.

Hermione felt a strange sensation in the pit of her stomach bubbling up as if to burst.

“Thank you, Your Grace.” she whispered, her voice raw with emotion.

“You are not used to being praised, Lady Hermione, but in my presence you will hear nothing but.” he told her as he spun her round and brought her back up against his body.

Her eyes met with Narcissa briefly and she saw the anger flash across her sister’s blue eyes. Hermione felt herself visibly pale.

She would have no sleep tonight.
