Bitter
This is a song fic…Usually, rather than write it as a song fic, I just keep the song playing in the background for inspiration, but this one just ate away at me. This song is perfect for these two, and I’m thinking of using it for a few other ships out there as well. “Lily, I--” Severus Snape began, feeling the bottom drop out of his stomach.
Before he could finish his sentence, she shoved his open arms away, bitterly.
The word had just come tumbling out of his mouth, he hadn’t meant it. The anguish in her eyes cut through him like scissors to his heart.
You push me away, bitterly
“I’m so sorry,” he said to her, remorse splashed across his dark eyes.
My apologies fall on your deaf ears
“Go to hell, Severus Snape,” she told him, loathing laced in her sweet voice.
You curse my name bitterly
She looked at him a moment longer, rage contorting her face and lighting up her already bright green eyes.
And now, your eyes, they look at me bitterly
She spun on her heel and left him standing there, alone.
Severus looked after her, feeling like a perfect arse. His cheeks flushed with the heat of his embarrassment.
I stand ashamed, amidst my foolish pride
Realization dawned on him; for them, there would be no more.
Cause for us, there’ll be no more
He would never study with her again. He would never carry her books to her next class for her. He would never lean close and whisper in her ear, savoring the sweet scent of strawberries on her hair. He would never again wonder what it might be like to kiss her soft lips.
For us, there’ll be no more
His eyes narrowed at her retreating form. He had been right, after all. She was nothing but a filthy little mud blood, and she didn’t deserve his heart anyway.
And now my eyes, they look at you bitterly
A/N: I know, I know, not so happy, but this song just always made me think of the final exchange between those two. It make me imagine Severus building a wall around his heart. Anyway please review, even if you hated it.
