Start of Something New

This story is an AU story, that ignores Deathly Hallows. The first six books are considered canon; however everything post-HBP will, for the most part, differ from Deathly Hallows. There will be at least five chapters, and most likely more.

This story will start out as a Harry/Hermione story, but when the story is completely over, there will be Ron/Hermione, Harry/Ginny, Ron/Ginny, and Ginny/Hermione action, along with mixings of the four of them, although the main romance will be H/Hr. Might as well get all the kinkiness out of it that we can.

"This could be the start
Of something new
It feels so right
To be here with you
And now looking in your eyes
I feel in my heart
The start of something new"

--High School Musical, "The Start of Something New"

Harry felt very anxious inside. It had been less than a week since Dumbledore's funeral. Thankfully, the Dursleys were leaving him alone. Harry couldn't bear the thought of talking to them, or to anyone. Indeed, he hadn't spoken since Dumbledore's funeral.

Today was the day he left the Dursleys. He had received an owl from Lupin, letting him know they would be setting up a Portkey that would take him...somewhere. Lupin obviously didn't feel comfortable enough saying where in the letter, which Harry could understand. Should someone, say Snape, intercept it, they could lie in wait for Harry when he reached their destination.

Harry was ready to leave, no matter where. Despite being in the Dursely house with the Dursleys occupying the same building as him, he felt terribly lonely. He missed his friends. Ron, always good to have a laugh with, and with whom he could talk about anyone. Ginny, despite the fact they were broken up. She could still understand him. And...

"Harry?"

Harry was startled. He'd just started thinking about Hermione. Why then did he hear her voice? It was almost as if...

"Harry? Are you alright?"

He blinked, turned towards the bedroom door...and saw Hermione standing there, with a slightly worried look on her face. She must have Apparated without me hearing or, or noticing. He was now truly aware of just how deep in thought he'd been. He was pleased to see her, though why he was very pleased he could not say. Hermione was dressed in Muggle clothing, and was looking quite lovely. Her bushy brown hair was sheek and shiny. Her blue blouse matched the color of her eyes, which Harry had never really noticed before, but were really quite blue. He had been sure, though, that she had brown eyes. He also...noticed her chest. Sure, she was a girl, but he'd never really noticed boobs before. With Cho, he'd concentrated on her shiny black hair and oriental eyes; with Ginny, her fiery red hair, freckles, and legs...but with Hermione, he was noticing completely different things. Her boobs looked ample, not overly huge, but definitely not small. Also, her waist was slender as well, and, now that he took a closer look, her hair appeared less bushy than before. Almost more of a natural curl to it, though it most likely was some spell or potion.

"Harry?"

Realizing stupidly that he was checking her out, Harry quickly looked up at her face, thankful that, at least, she had appeared not to have noticed him checking her out. "...Hermione," he said softly.

"Harry, are you okay?" She kneeled down, coming to meet his eye level, with him sitting on the bed.

"Yeah, I'm okay," he said. He stopped, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. "Well...not really."

She looked on him with a sad look in her eyes, like she could tell what was bothering him. "It's been less than two weeks. I'm not surprised you're still not okay." She took his hand in hers, and he felt his heart jump a beat...and, surprisingly, his cock seemed to get a little hard.

"I'm okay...I just...miss him. And Sirius."

She looked into his eyes, her eyes with a look of wanting to comfort him. "Harry..."

"It's just not fair!" Harry suddenly wailed. Hermione looked a little shocked. "It's not fair! First my mum and dad, then Cedric, then Sirius, now Dumbledore! Why is it everyone around me keeps dying! It's like I'm cursed!" he said, and with that, he started sobbing.

Hermione lowered his head and brought it to her chest (which of course, despite the crying, only made Harry's cock get harder). "You're not cursed, Harry. We're still here. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, Ron, Ginny, me...."

At mentioning herself, Harry brought his head up and looked into Hermione's eyes. He wasn't sure why he did what he did next. Perhaps he was looking for assurance that more people wouldn't leave him. Perhaps he was looking for comfort. But, what he did next...was kiss Hermione.

She seemed surprised at first, and just when Harry realized what he was doing and that he should probably stop, he was surprised when she kissed him back. Soon, his tongue broke through her mouth and began exploring her mouth, and then her mouth explored his. Harry's hands went to her waist; first on top of her shirt, and then he found his hands go under her shirt and touch her bare skin. Her hands did the same, and were now feeling his abs that were rock hard thanks to Quidditch. She ran her hands over his chest, and suddenly, Harry thought of returning the favor. He slid his hands over to her chest, felt her bra, and pushed the bra aside to feel her naked...really, "tits" was the only word to describe them. He found her nipples and started playing with them, and she moaned into his mouth, which got his cock harder. He thought about removing his mouth from hers, and putting in on her nipples, when the bedroom door knocked.

"Boy!" Vernon Dursley's booming voice reverberated from outside the door. "Someone here to see you!"

"Oh, no, it's Lupin!" whispered Harry frantically.

"What do we do?" asked Hermione, who was frantically trying to shove her boobs back into her bra and shirt.

Thankful that he hadn't stopped following Dumbledore's instructions to keep his invisibility cloak in his pocket, Harry fished it out, and threw it over Hermione before pushing her into a corner. "Keep still," he whispered, before opening the door.

"Hello, Harry," said Remus Lupin.

"P-Professor Lupin," Harry began.

"Harry, it's been a number of years since you were my student," said Lupin kindly. His eyes seemed to have their own sadness about them. "I think you can call me Remus now. Especially with you coming of age soon."

"Remus, then," said Harry, quickly glancing at the corner where Hermione was hidden under the cloak.

"Harry, before we go, I want a quick word with you," said Lupin, sitting down on the bed.

"Oh?" said Harry, looking puzzled, as he too took a seat on the bed.

"Harry...I know Dumbledore was giving you private lessons this past year." He paused, as though looking for Harry to confirm this. Harry kept still, but let his eyes very quickly glance over at Hermione again. He didn't say anything, and when Lupin finally understood that he would neither confirm nor deny this, he went on. "I, and several other members of the Order of the Phoenix, are under the impression that he -- Dumbledore -- gave you a misson. You don't have to confirm or deny this, Harry. I understand Dumbledore most likely didn't want you telling people, which is a wise course. You don't have to tell me what it is either. There's only two things I want to inform you of."

"Firstly, whatever the mission is, you're going to need help. The Order wants you to know that whatever you need, you'll get, no questions asked. You don't have to tell us a thing until you're ready to. If you need defense, you'll have it. If you need information, we'll tell you or get the information. If you need a place to hide, we'll shelter you. Whatever you need, Harry, we're with you."

Harry was slightly dumbfounded by this. The Order would help him with anything, no matter what, no questions asked? "Did Professor Dumbledore ask you to do this, Remus?" He could think of no other explanation for why the Order would agree to do this.

Lupin looked at Harry for a moment, as though deciding on what to say. Finally, he spoke. "Yes, he did." Lupin looked at Harry. "You're not surprised?"

"On the contrary, I'm quite surprised," said Harry, who was now feeling more flabbergasted before than a few minutes ago when he'd been making out with Hermione. "Did Dumbledore tell you...?"

"No, he did not," said Lupin firmly. "We don't know what mission he gave you, nor did he even tell us he gave you one. But, somehow, we suspected he would. Why else would he give you private lessons all last year unless he was preparing you for something? He did leave instructions that the Order help you however we could."

"But, what about Snape? Surely what you know, he knows," said Harry, worriedly.

"Snape may know you were receiving private lessons, and he may know that the Order was told to help you, but he certainly is just as in the dark about your mission as we are, Harry. Without knowing that, there's no way he could know what you were planning on doing, and what you would need."

Harry thought about this for a moment. He wondered what Hermione, huddled in the corner hidden under the cloak, was thinking about all this. "You said there were two things?"

Lupin took a deep breath. "The Order, since Dumbledore's funeral, is under the impression that you plan on not returning to Hogwarts this year for your seventh and final year." Harry again remained still and silent.
"I am asking you to reconsider." Harry kept his face neutral, but in his head, his mind was racing at the top speed of his Firebolt. Remain at Hogwarts? But how would he track down the Horcruxes?

"Whatever your mission is, you will need help. The Order is going to give what it can to you, but that may not be enough. With the large resources Hogwarts has to offer -- the library, secret passageways, and other secrets – it would be best for Hogwarts to act as your base of operations. A safe place for you to work on your misson and do research, if need be. Plus, it will give you instant access to many members of the Order, allowing us to aid you more quickly if you require our help."

Harry started at Lupin. "Is this what Dumbledore told you?"

"No, it is not," said Lupin. "The Order itself is making this request. One, it is important to you and your misson to continue your schooling, and two, you have vast knowledge about Hogwarts, in some cases more than even your father, Sirius, and I had when we were students there. I cannot believe that knowledge won't help in some ways. Besides, if you don't show up at Hogwarts, people will certainly notice, and I don't think you want to draw attention to yourself Harry. You've already gotten enough with Voldemort setting his sights on you. This talk of you being 'the Chosen One' gives you more attention. If it's discovered you're not at school, you can be certain that you will certainly be noticed when you appear somewhere. But, if people believe you are at school, then if you leave the school for a short period of time, you are less likely to be noticed."

"But, if I'm not in the dormitory for any period of time, won't I be noticed gone anyway?" asked Harry.

Lupin looked at Harry for a moment. "I can see that nothing gets by you, Harry. Good. You'll need that against Voldemort." He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a piece of parchment, with a rather official looking seal on it. "This is from the new Headmistress of Hogwarts, Professor McGonnagal. It announces your appointment as Head Boy. With it, you will be given your own dormitory, which will be shared with the Head Girl. This will ensure that you will not be missed if you are missing for the night."

Harry stared at the parchment. Was this possible? Head Boy? But then, another thought occurred to him. "Remus, what about the Head Girl? Surely she'd notice if I was gone."

Remus stared at Harry, than gave a small smile. "Like I said Harry, nothing gets by you. We knew that the Head Girl had to be somone you could trust. That is why Professor McGonnagal will be making Hermione Granger Head Girl. She is someone that we believe you can trust, and I believe that YOU believe you can trust her. She will not think it odd for you to be gone, and she can in fact, cover for you if need be."

Harry's heart skipped about ten beats. He quickly looked over in the corner again, wondering what was going through Hermione's head at hearing that she had been made Head Girl. He wondered if she'd be mad because she had been made Head Girl just because he was Head Boy, and not because she thought she earned it, which Harry would gladly, and quickly, tell her she had. "Remus...I don't quite know what to say."

Remus smiled, a bigger smile this time. "Then, don't say anything Harry. Now, it looks like you've still got some packing to do? I'll be waiting downstairs. I have to...speak with your aunt and uncle. When you're ready, Harry, just come on downstairs." He stood up and left the room, closing the door behind him.

Harry held up a finger to the corner where Hermione was hidden. He went to the door, slowly opened it, and peeked out. When he saw the Lupin had indeed gone downstairs, he brought his head back into the bedroom and closed the door, locking it. "Okay, it's safe."

Hermione threw off the invisibility cloak, and Harry saw that she'd managed to only get one boob back into her bra. "Oh, thank goodness," she said, quickly fixing herself. "I was so nervous. You told me to stay still, and I hadn't fixed adjusting myself!" Harry had noticed that the nipple on her boob was quite stiff, and his cock got hard again. Harry opened his mouth to ask her what happened now, but she cut him off. "Head Boy!" she said. "Well, congratulations Harry."

"You, too," said Harry. "I hope you're not mad at...at why you're becoming Head Girl."

"Oh, no," she said. "I don't mind, really. I'm just so excited to be Head Girl." She tapped her finger on her chin. "I wonder when I'll be getting my letter of notice. Well, anyways, you should finish packing. I'll see you at the Burrow!" With that, she turned on the spot and Disapparated.

Harry wondered when they would get around to talking about what had happened right before Lupin had come. He had a feeling Hermione left so abruptly so she could figure it out on her end. The Burrow? he thought. So that must be where Lupin and I are going. It made some sense, of course, but wouldn't Voldemort and the Death Eaters know about the Burrow? He thought about asking Lupin, but then again, he wasn't supposed to know where they were going, was he? If he asked Lupin, Lupin would ask why Harry thought that's where they were going, and then Harry would have to admit Hermione was there and...well, he'd play along and pretend to be surprised. He spent ten more minutes finishing to pack, and then, stuffing the invisibility cloak back in his pocket, opened the door, and went downstairs.
