Nothing Compares To You

He was watching her again.

She didn’t even have to look at him to know that he was watching her. She could feel it with every nerve in her body; it was as if he didn’t care if someone noticed. He should care, really; with his girlfriend by his side, her hand in his... you’d think he’d try to be a little less conspicuous. But he didn’t, and something about that sent a tiny shiver up Hermione’s spine; something about him watching her gave her a thrill and every time their eyes connected, she had to fight the smile that tugged at her lips, lips that he had been kissing only hours before.

He really needed to stop watching her; someone was bound to notice…

Not that she was any better. She watched him just as much as he watched her. When she came across him in the halls on his way to class or in the Great Hall during meals; she at the Gryffindor table, him at his own house table surrounded by his “friends,” she would just watch him.

There was something about him that made her skin break out in goose bumps. Something about the way he looked, something about the way his hair fell into his eyes, made her want to drag him into a dark corner and do ungodly things that they really shouldn’t be doing with each other.

The times that she let herself dwell on it, you could say that everything came down to morals… or lack thereof. To be completely honest, to them, morals simply didn’t matter because when it came to just the two of them… in the heat of the moment… body to body… morals didn’t exist.

Hermione wasn’t exactly sure when it all started. Oh, she knew for certain when the physical aspect of their “relationship” had started. She would have had to have been deaf and blind to not know when that had happened … she just wasn’t sure when everything else had occurred. She was fairly certain something had passed between them sometime during sixth year and that it was almost the same thing as now, but not as strong and nowhere near as wild. They both had been single at the time, though they both were dating someone now, but any relationship they might have had been in wouldn’t have lasted long … and judging by the way Draco was looking at her at that very moment, her current relationship wasn’t going to last very long either. But if she had to pick a particular day that their involvement had begun, it would have to be a very hot early summer night in the end of May, when they had both been single… her on nightly patrol and he breaking curfew to go hook up with some Ravenclaw fifth-year.

To this day, Hermione still blushed at the thought, and as she watched Draco’s eyes darken with hunger from across the room, she could still feel the passion and urgency she felt on that night, and even now spending the night with Draco Malfoy was not an uncommon occurrence.

But, to this day, nobody knew.

It wasn’t that they were scared of the reaction they would get and they weren’t ashamed of each other, of that she was convinced. They kept it a secret for the simple fact that it was the only one they had. All the enmity between their friends was forgotten behind the enormity of having something that was truly their own. The world might be burning down around them, and the future might be dark and bleak, but in their secret and their togetherness, they had a tiny pocket of comfort that they could share, and they clung to it to keep them sane. Some days it felt like it was all they had left, but it was more than enough to keep them fighting. Knowing that they had something that the world couldn’t corrupt; couldn’t destroy… made the kisses rougher, the caresses hotter, the words sweeter, and caused the world to explode.

And watching Draco now, as he sat across from her in the Great Hall, lean down to whisper something into his girlfriend’s ear before he stood, her body still tensed at the mere memory of what he would whisper to her. Hermione knew she was meant to follow by the look he gave her as he walked to the door. It had been days since they had been alone long enough to steal more than a couple kisses and it was starting to get to her ... and judging by that look; him as well. She almost sighed at the thought of what this night was going to bring but caught it before it could escape her lips. Hermione quickly glanced to her left where her boyfriend, Justin, was sitting with Harry and Ron discussing Quidditich, she kept her eyes on him as she stood slowly from her spot at the table, a well-practiced lie already forming in her mind in case he noticed her leaving. He didn’t. And as she made her way out of the Great Hall, she almost felt bad.

Almost.

She didn’t worry when she didn’t see Draco waiting for her as she quickly made her way toward the dungeons where his Head Boy rooms were located; she knew he would be there when she arrived. It had been on a night like this over a year ago, just as hot and muggy, when they had staggered - drunk on lust - into an unused classroom. She could still see it perfectly in her mind as though it had just happened yesterday.

Hermione tried to keep her pace casual and her face neutral as she made her way to his rooms, just in case Draco had decided to stop along the way to watch her from the entrance of an adjacent hallway. The first time he had done this, Hermione had simply brushed it aside because it didn’t bother her all that much, but when it had happened a third and fourth time, she asked him about it.

He had given her a look that immediately made her body heat up and her pulse race. The smirk that had formed slowly on his lips as he backed her into the door of his room made her knees go weak.

“Well, Granger.” She had whimpered, loving it when he called her by her last name, and she bit her bottom lip he kissed slowly down the side of her neck, his breath warm.
“I like watching you walk to my rooms because I like knowing that in a few minutes I’m going to have you under me.” His hand drifted up her thigh, lifting it to wrap around his waist. That move alone had made her breath hitch.

“…on my bed...” He brushed his lips slowly over hers but pulled away before she could deepen the kiss.

“And when I follow you, all I can think about is last time we were together and how good it felt and how good it’s going to feel when I’m inside you again. And I like knowing that it’s me you’re wet for, that it’s me that you think about when you want me so desperately that you would let me take you anywhere.”

He had kissed her then, so deep and rough that she could have sworn that she could feel him inside her. Her pulse had raced as he dragged her limp body to the bed and proceeded to show her just how much he liked watching her.

After that night it had become almost like a game. She liked to let him believe that she didn’t know he was there and she would always feign surprise when his arms wrapped around her waist just as she reached the portrait to his room. Hermione smirked as she heard set of footsteps join hers as she passed one of those particular hallways… she didn’t have to look behind her to know it was Draco. Hermione felt her heartbeat quicken as she felt him just behind her and her body gave a start when his arm wrapped smoothly around her. She was immediately pulled against the front of his body as they took the last remaining steps to his rooms.

It seemed as though he missed her just as much as she had missed him.

Pulling free from Draco’s grasp when they reached the door, she smiled at him as he let her enter first. She knew he liked to watch her make her way to sit down on his bed. She liked to watch him as well as he entered the room slowly, taking his time as he turned around to close the door and lock it again with a few complicated charms. He turned back to face her and she had to fight a laugh as he swaggered over to where she sat. He stopped only inches from her and she opened her legs so that he could stand between her thighs. Hermione tilted her head back to look at him and tried hard to fight the blush that was slowly making its way across her cheeks as he stood there staring at her. He smiled at her then and she returned it as he brought his hands to her face.

Her eyes fluttered shut in response to his touch, a sigh escaping her parted lips. He traced her face with only his fingertips, first her forehead, then her eyes, nose, cheeks, jaw and finally, after what seemed to be eternity, he ran his fingers softly over her lips and they parted further. His hands left her face to gather her hair at the base of her neck as his feather-light touches gave way to his heated kiss, and she moaned in response. She whimpered as Draco slowly lowered himself onto her, pressing her into the mattress, and she had only one thought before the world faded away to black.

Nothing in the world would ever compare to this.

When it all came down to it, there was only her and Draco… in the heat of the moment… body to body. She loved him, for that she was certain, and even though he didn’t say it, she knew Draco loved her. It didn’t matter what was going on in their lives, it didn’t matter if there was someone else. There would always be the two of them and that’s all she needed.

I want to say thank you to my VERY patient Beta Amanda. I doubt this story would have been finished without you.

Ok, well it may not be perfect but it’s mine and I’m finally satisfied with it. So, I hope you liked it and review if you did.
