Better Mn

A/N: This is my first ever Harry Potter fanfic, so I apologize if it's not really great. Most of my fanfics are in AU/AR, so if it doesn't sound like the characters, that is why. Anyways, I hope that you enjoy this. I don't have a beta reader so I am sorry for the spelling and grammar errors. Please review! Thanks.

Cura Warvan was sitting in her room when she heard the post being delivered that day. Running downstairs, she grabbed it from the slot in the door and checked to see if she had received anything. Cura held an envelope that was addressed to her, but was suspicious. Opening it she realized that it was in fact junk mail.

'Stupid Muggles and their advertising.' She spat.

Cura, whom was now seventeen, was forced to drop out of Hogwarts after her sixth year. Not because she wanted too, but because her grandparents made her.

'Too much danger in that world!' They had told her. She hated that her parents were gone and was forced to live with her grandparents. Cura hated even more that she was a half-blood, because the Muggle side of her family didn't understand anything about her or her world.

“Cura!” She heard her grandfather yell. Trotting back down the stairs, Cura walked into the sitting room where he could always be found at.

“Yes?”

“Kneel next to me.” Cura knew what was going to happen now, as it happened everyday when she left her room. She knelt down next to him and shut her eyes. A hand struck across her face and all she could do was just endure the blow. Standing back up with tears falling down her face, grandfather gave her a list.

“Go to the store for me and don't fuck up this time.”

“Yes sir.” Cura turned away, got her cloak, and walked out of the house.

She had missed her friends and teachers at Hogwarts. It had almost been a year since she had left and she couldn't owl anyone to tell them what happened.

“They probably think that I am dead.” Cura said aloud as she wiped the tears from her face. If only she could get an owl to send a letter to McGonagall or even Snape. Her thoughts stopped right there and Cura sighed his name.

“Snape.”

She had missed her snarky Potions professor. Being a Slytherin herself made it better because she was always close to him. Cura, at the age of 16, even started to fall for him.

“I miss him.” She said to herself as she walked into the small Muggle market.

Walking through the market gathering items, she couldn't help but think about everything back home at Hogwarts. The way the sun set over the Black Lake on an autumn evening, even the smell of the Great Hall when she walked in for dinner. Cura's mind soon swayed back to thinking about Professor Snape. Her thoughts soon snapped back into reality when she walked into an older lady while leaving the small market.

“Oh, I'm sor- Ms. Figg?” Cura marveled over the sight of Ms. Figg. She knew that running into her was not a coincidence.

“Hurry up dear, there isn't much time.” Pulling Cura by her wrist she was confused until they reached Ms. Figg's home. Sitting in a chair, sipping tea, and playing with her cats, Figg brought an envelope to Cura.

“Professor Snape owled me this this morning. He told me to find you and when I did to owl him back.” The older lady watched as Cura pulled the parchment out of the envelope and read it. Asking for a quill and parchment from her elder, Cura started to scribble down a letter.

Professor Snape,

I am fine and well. I have a long story to tell you about what happened. Can you meet me somewhere? Maybe you can help me too. Merlin knows I need it.

She started to write I miss you before crossing it out, then finally signed it. Cura Warvan.

Slipping the parchment in an envelope, she then put it in the owls mouth and sent him on his way.

Cura, had told Ms. Figg what had happened over the past year. How her grandparents made her drop out, move back into the Muggle world, and how she was often abused for being what she was.

After about an hour of conversation with Figg, the owl came back and there was a letter for Cura from Professor Snape. She was so excited she could have imploded, but didn't. Calming her self she took the letter for the owl, gave him a treat, and sent him on his way. Cura walked back to the chair she was sitting in and opened the letter.

Miss Warvan,

I am happy to see that you are well. Most of us here have been worried about you. Meet me at Spinner's End at sun down. I know that you know where it is at Miss Warvan. You have been sighted many of times in your younger years down next to my house.

-SS

Cura couldn't help but blush. She remembered the summer two years ago when he caught her frolicking around his summer home. Cura then didn't know whose house it was, but found out very quickly.

Folding the letter up, she put it in her pants pocket, grabbed her groceries, thanked Ms. Figg, and left. Cura knew that she was going to get a beating for being late, but it was for a good cause. Tomorrow she will be able to see Professor Snape and hopefully he would take her back to her home.

Walking the kilometer back to her grandparent's house, enjoying the warm air of the July evening, she tried to remember how to get to Spinner's End from where she lived. Cura entered the door trying to avoid her grandparents, put the groceries away, and tip-toed up into her room to retire until tomorrow when she would see his face again.

A/N: Hope this was alright. Thanks for reading :)
