What He Can't Have
This was the day that the Marauders knew would come, from the very first time James had ever set eyes on Lily Evans. Sirius could tell by the look on James' face that this was the happiest day of his life.
Looking around at his friends, there was a mixture of emotions pouring out. Peter was a mixture of excitement and jealousy. Excitement, because his best friend was getting married, but jealous because he knew that no matter what he did in life, he would never amount to what James was, a nd he would never be the guy who got the girl. He looked on, smiling anyway.
Remus was feeling a different sort of jealousy. He'd wanted Lily for ages, and no matter what he did, no matter how charming he was, James still won her over. Remus never noticed Sirius watching him, as he watched James life Lily's veil over her head and lean in to kiss her.
As the wedding bells started to ring, Sirius had to step away, choking back tears. It killed him to look a t Remus, who was looking at the now Mrs. Lily Potter, with the same look of devastation that Sirius knew had to be plastered all over his face.
It had been years now since he first discovered the fact that he was in love with Remus. He knew he could never tell him about the way he had often fantasized about hearing bells at their own wedding, about kissing him, and everyone clapping for them.
Realising he was still off to the side, he was snapped back into reality when Remus approached him.
"Don't worry mate, its not the end of the world."
A single tear ran down Sirius' face, but he just smiled at the man standing before him.
