Old Rivals, Best Mates

Albus Severus Potter had, as he'd thought he might, been Sorted into Slytherin his first year at Hogwarts. His father had no problems with this as his middle name sake had been a Slytherin and he himself had almost been. His mother, on the other hand, was never too sure if her youngest son was safe in the snake pit. No matter how many times Albus, Harry, and even Headmistress McGonagall tried to tell her he was safe, she refused to listen.

This was mainly because of Scorpius Malfoy. Ginny didn't trust anyone with the name Malfoy even though the youngest of the family had never spoken so much as one word to her. Ginny didn't want her son to be around him.

Unfortunately for her, Al had other thoughts on that subject. He had actually managed to become fairly good friends with Scorpius, despite their families.

Al,
Dad says you should come over here. It's getting harder for us to keep our friendship secret. Should we tell them now or wait longer? I don't know if we'll be able to wait much longer.
~Scor

It was the end of their 6th year now and Albus was having similar issues in his own home. "You really should invite this friend of yours over, Dear. Do you not want him to meet your family?"

"Mum, that's not it."

"Sure it is, Al. You don't want to bring your Slytherin friends home to house of Gryffindors. Not that I blame you."

"James, leave your brother alone. There's nothing wrong with him being a Slytherin and having friends in his own House." Harry spoke up. "But I would like to meet this friend of yours." He added.

"How about we meet in a muggle park then? That way no one will hex each other." Al sighed, giving in.

"Let us know what you and your friend decide." Harry agreed.

Scor,
I was having the same problem. And fine, if they want to know, we'll tell them. Bring your father to the muggle park by the church around 2pm on Saturday.
~Al

Oddly, the Potter family was unaware of how close to the Malfoys they lived. The Malfoys were not as unaware, they just did nothing about it. "Are they here yet, Albus?"

"No Mum. I told you, we got here early." He sighed before he caught sight of two white-blonde heads making their way over. "Scor!" He jumped off of the bench and dashed over to his best friend.

"Hey, Al." They hugged quickly. "Dad, this is my best mate, Albus Potter. Al, my dad."

"Hello Mr. Malfoy." Albus greeted him politely. "Mum, Dad, my best mate Scorpius Malfoy. Scor, my mum and dad."

"Good afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Potter." Scorpius greeted the two of them.

"Albus, a Malfoy?!" Ginny demanded.

"I did tell you you didn't want to know who he is." Albus shrugged meekly. Draco said nothing.

"Ginny, relax."

"I will NOT relax, Harry!" The red head turned on her husband now.

"Come on." Albus whispered in Scorpius' ear. The two walked over to the swing set and sat beside each other, watching their parents. Ginny was shouting at both Harry and Draco now. "I figured she'd have the biggest problem, actually." Albus stated.

"No worries, Al. I was expecting it. Dad said that your parents and he NEVER got along with each other. But apparently, your dad saved mine before and so he'll be civil." Scorpius smiled at his friend.

"Ya know, James actually kept his word? He doesn't like you, nor the fact that I'm in Slytherin, but he never once even mentioned your name let alone told Mum or Dad that we're friends."

"That's probably Victorie's doing." Victorie Lupin nee Weasley was their Defense teacher and had been for most of Scorpius and Albus' school careers. She always told James off every time he started in on his little brother and his friends. For that, both Slytherins were thankful.

"We'll have to thank her for that next time we see her." Albus stated.

"I think your mum's noticed we're not there." Scorpius said, looking back at the adults to see Mrs. Potter glaring in their general direction.

"Scorpius! Albus! Come here." Draco called for them. "Come, we're going to go to the Manor. Po... Harry and I thought that the two of you may wish to spend some time together this summer."

"And you know, Al, that bringing Scorpius to our house wouldn't be a good idea. I'll come with you for a little while. Mostly so your mother feels better about this." Harry rolled his eyes, the only sign showing how ridiculous he thought that idea.

"Wait, Dad, you have no problem with me and Scorpius being friends?"

"Obviously not." Ginny huffed. "But you listen and you listen good, Albus Severus Potter. If you get into ANY trouble over there, you will NOT be going back."

"Severus?" Draco looked at Harry, eyes widened slightly.

"He may've been a Slytherin and we may not have liked each other very much, but he was one of the bravest men I ever met." Harry stated. "I'll tell you the full story later, if you like."

Ginny, seeing that there was no way she was going to be able to stop her husband and youngest son from going to Malfoy Manor, huffed angrily and stomped off in the direction of the Potter home. "Wonder how long it'll take her to get over this?" Albus wondered, glancing at his dad.

"No idea. Not soon though. Make sure she eats first at every meal." Both Potters shuddered.

"Surely she wouldn't poison you?" Draco asked, eyebrow raised.

"Oh, she wouldn't. That doesn't mean she wouldn't add anything else to the food. Even if she does eat first, there could still be something in our food." Harry answered.

"So we'll switch with James and Lily like we did last time." Albus stated. "'Course, that only made her madder." He added as more of an after thought.

Scorpius laughed. "Come on. Tell us more on the way."

They started off in the opposite direction to Malfoy Manor. "Sometimes, when she's angry at us, she'll put Weasley's Wizard Weezes products in our dinner. I think she gets George to make them speical for her." Harry told the two Malfoys.

"Turning into a canary when the Minister is over, is not fun, by the way." Albus added.

"Not that Kingsley minded. He laughed for hours, I swear." Harry rolled his eyes.

"You know the Minister?" Draco asked, seemingly impressed.

"I have since I was 15. He was a member of the Order of the Phoenix." Harry supplied.

They reached the Manor shortly there after and both Potters stopped dead in their tracks. "Wow, Scor. It's better then you said." Albus didn't look away from the large home in front of him. Harry merely nodded, eyes wide. Both Malfoys puffed up with family pride.

A/N: Okay, the title kinda sucks. I would be forever grateful to anyone who would be willing to give me a new title suggestion. PLEASE?
