Author's Note: I am doing this based on the challenge of DarkOne and I hope this is what DarkOne is looking for. I will continue to the next six chapters over the next week and I hope everyone enjoys. And I apologize for the first chapter being so short. I just want to make sure this is sort of what was wanted. Please let me know of any changes desired/ideas.

Disclaimer: If I owned any of this do you think I'd be broke and writing fanfiction? Okay maybe I'd still be writing fanfiction but I certainly would not be broke!!!

The Cruelties of the Ignorant
Chap. 1

"I'm sorry Mrs. Weasley there was no way to undo what had been done. By the time the medi team got there she had already been turned." the doctor explained.

"We can't keep her in the house," Molly seemed so distant and cold. The war had not been good to her family. Losing Fred had been too much and now this? She would have no daughter, "How much longer will she be allowed to stay here?"

"We are obligated to keep her another three days while we process her paperwork to register her as a..."

Molly cut her off, "Do not say it please. I shall send some one to her for when she awakens. In memory of my only daughter I will make sure she has a place to stay, but I cannot allow her at my home." The plump red haired witch stood up.

"I understand your dilemma Mrs. Weasley but please know that her kind are not the mindless killing machines that everyone makes them out to be." the doctor tended to take sympathy on people who had been forced into situations like this.

"No you do not understand my dilemma!" her voiced raised to a higher pitch, "She was my only daughter and now she is nothing more then a monster! Her own husband will not even visit her! According to Harry she is dead to him! You cannot even begin to understand what she has done to her children and her family!" Molly Weasley moved to leave, "I'll send some one to the hospital informing her where her things are and where she can stay. It is the only kind act I can do for the woman that was my daughter."

The doctor watched with sad eyes as the older witch shut the door behind her with a bit of a loud bang. Her only thoughts were that, 'Even with the fall of the darkest wizard to ever live people are still just as cruel and ignorant.'

Ginny awoke feeling deathly cold she reached to pull the hospital blanket around her closer. 'Wait... Hospital blanket?' she thought hard for a moment recalling just why she was there, 'Oh yeah, that night I was coming home from work. Those shadows seeming out of place... the coldness was all around me...' She halted her thought process before she could recall those aweful images. 'Does that mean I'm a...' She sat up quickly feeling very stiff and opened her eyes. Her senses seemed keener somehow a little more on edge. She heard the sound of a radio being played at the nurses station down the hall and felt rather then saw most of the patients on this floor. Shuddering she reached for her medical chart at the foot of her bed and gasped at what she saw.

Diagnosis: Vampire. Uncurable. Patient reccomended for hospital stay till third day after addmitance then shall register with Ministry of Magic as a halfbreed upon registry will be allowed a wand.

She sat the clipboard down and began to weep. Her tears no longer the clear saline like a normal witch's but a deep crimson blood like that of what she had become. Which caused her only to cry harder. 'Why me?' she continued to sob she didn't want to be a vampire. How could she live like this? What would her husband think? She knew of his hate for vampires. Harry had been an Auror for so long and fought so many of them. Would he still love her? What would her children think? All of it was too much to take and she continued to cry not even noticing when some one entered her room.

"Oh Ginny," Remus felt his heartbreak as he watched the young witch crying. What more could he do? He moved to her bedside sitting down next to her and wrapped comforting arms around her, "Sh..." he glanced down and noticed her medical chart in front of her so she must have figured out what happened, "It will be alright Ginny." He tried his best to console her.

She sniffed, sobbed out several words that sounded like no it wouldn't ever be alright, and continued her crying. Remus could smell the blood from her tears and felt it soak his shirt as he pulled her closer. He wondered for a moment about all that had happened over the past couple days. An Order Meeting had been called, the first in a long time, and it had been debated heavily amoungst everyone who would take Ginny Weasley Potter in. Her family and husband wanting nothing to do with the witch recently become vampire. He could not help but take pity on her and offer his home, knowing well what it was like to be an outcast of society. Unfortunately this did not bode well with his wife Tonks and she had left him. Such a tragedy! They had never been quite right since the war and their deaths having to be faked until the last of the Death Eaters had been rounded up and brought to Justice. Prehaps they had been really ment to die then because gods know that over the years they only remained together because of their son. Now with his divorce soon to be filed, his wife somewhere in Tokoyo, and his son at Hogwarts till the summer he was free to take in the girl who at this point seemed to have no one in the world.

There was a soft knock on the door followed by it opening and a nurse walking in. Remus frowned, 'Did it have to be right this second?' He looked at the skinny nurse who walked in with a bunch of papers.

"Please, miss, a moment she is an emotional wreck," he looked up at her while Ginny continued to sob a little more quietly then before.

"I'm sorry sir but with halfbreeds it is required they be on file as soon as they have awoken," she huffed a bit seemingly not very sympathetic to his protest.

"Do you know who she is?" Remus snapped getting a bit annoyed at the nurses tone.

"A vampire?" the dumb witch asked with a horribly snide tone of voice that caused Ginny to cry even harder.

"She is Ginny Potter. Wife of THE Harry Potter. The man who saved the entire wizarding world!" he growled angrily now completely on the offense with this horrible nurse.

"Harry Potter got a divorce. Don't you read the Daily Prophet?" she chided.

Her last comment caused Ginny to snap to attention and stare dumbly at the woman for a moment before speaking in a soft but audible voice, "He has been granted a divorce?" Divorces were frowned upon in the wizarding world but not unheard of. After a hearing a divorce could usually be obtained with just cause, and for marriages that made no impact on society a hearing wasn't even needed just simply granted.

"Yes, Now will you please sign these papers for ministry or do I have to call security to make you." she huffed and placed the papers in Ginny's lap to sign.

"Of course," she went through the paperwork almost like a drone feeling so numb she was in shock and Remus could smell it all over her as well as feel the tenseness in her body. In less then a couple minutes she handed the paperwork back.

"You are free to go. Mr. Lupin has signed a release form for you and you are in his care." the nurse left the room.

"Ginny I'm sorry that nurse was downright aweful," he frowned and pulled out his wand he cast a quick scourgify on her to clear away her bloody tears then clean his shirt. He did not mind her tears but it would look awkward him having a bloody shirt.

"He really is divorcing me?" she looked into his eyes.

He met her chocolate ones with his own carmel gaze and frowned, "I'm sorry Ginny but your family and Harry will not see reason. I hope in time they will calm and realize you are still you, but until then him and your mum have completely gone off the deep end."

With every word he spoke he could see it was hurting her but he had to continue and get this all out in the open.

"Most of your brothers and your dad do not share the same sentiments as your mum and Harry but they are being forced at the moment not to help you in anyway. Though I highly doubt that will keep George away. I know you two are very close ever since Fred's loss," he trailed off momentarily before continuing, "Your children are fine and at Hogwarts. They were notified of the accident and don't seem to mind much after I talked to them personally. Minerva let me speak to them before Harry had a chance. They accept you no matter what and will keep loving you and be staying with us for the last half of the summer." Remus hoped that this little bit of good news would cheer her up.

"Us as in you, Tonks, and me?" she looked at him questioningly. She had only realized she was a vampire about thirty minutes ago and already she had no family and no husband. How was she to trust anyone? Then again Remus J. Lupin was not just anyone. He was a werewolf and prehaps that gave him an edge to understanding.

"Not Tonks, she and I are no longer together, but you will be spending as long as you need to with me in my home at Godrics Hallow. I am by no means poor and I am certainly capable of helping a good friend get back on her feet. I have enough room for the kids this summer when the time comes and I will not be taking no for an answer," Remus said in a tone that reminded her of Dumbledore's when he was alive, How could she say no to that? After all she would need all the help she could get.

Ginny simply nodded quietly which caused Remus to smile.

"Good now let us get going. Your things are already at my place and I've had my house elf unpack and prepare us some dinner," he allowed her to dress in a set of clothing he had brought her. He also happily gave her back her wand which had fortunately been recovered by the Aurors who had destroyed the vampires that attacked her, It felt strange being in her normal everyday Gryffindor colors and so she transfigured them into black colors. Unsure whether it was her vampirism that prefered darker colors now or if it was just the fact she had every reason in the world to be depressed.

Remus continued to smile despite transfigured clothing and guided her out of her room and down the hospital hallway to the elevator. There was a specific place to apparate in the hospital and they made their way toward it thankfully without incident. Part of him was worried because of what the Daily Prophet might have written. He made a mental not to find a copy and read what aweful thing they probably printed. Finally the reached the apparition point of the hospital.

"Hold on to me Ginny," he said and when he felt her arms wrap loosely around him he placed a comforting arm around her and with a pop they were gone.

Ginny was cold even in such close promximity to Remus who seemed to radiate heat. If this was part of being a vampire she wanted it to all end right this minute. The loud popping noise from the Apparition made her ears hurt, like the hum of the elevator had before she left the hospital. All the bright lights had hurt her eyes as well. She was grateful that he had the lights dimmed and all was quiet in his home it was all so much easier on her heightened senses unlike the noisy hospital. Even the smell here was more earthly something that she could not quiet put her finger on but it was a better smell than the horrible odor of disenfected mixed with the dieing/injured. It took her a moment to realize all she had really sensed, and as she stood there in his foyer with her arms still wrapped around him he watched her carefully.

This was the first time he had been in close contact with the youngest of the Weasley children. Although, she was no longer the little freckled face kid he had watched grow up. Now she was a fully grown woman and a mother of three beautiful children. She was still in her prime and motherhood had been good to her. That childish look gone from her features, twenty two years after the fall of Voldemort fading her freckles, and having filled out into very womanish curves he could not help but feel the wolf in him begin to stir being so close to her. She was gorgeous and as he breathed in her scent he had to will himself to pull away. Her vampirism having done wonders to her smell. She was a creature of the night, much the same as he, and her scent had become that of the earth. Rather then the aweful pungent odor of sweet and dead skin that even the most well bathed and groomed human tended to give off.

Letting her go he smiled down at her, having a good four inches in height on her, he slipped out of her embrace and called for his house elf, "Hanna!"

Ginny shivered at the loss of her companions body heat.

A small pop caused her to jump back a bit as the house elf apparated into view. A well kept looking female elf with a clean pink apron and hat on looked up at Remus with big blue glossy eyes, "Yes, Master."

"Hanna, this is Ginerva Weasley. She will be staying with us. You are to accept her orders as you would my own," he said his smile never wavering. He knew Hanna was unlike most house elves and she would do what was asked of her without question but she also could think a bit for herself and she was groomed properly. He had his own heightened senses to worry about and having a normally unkempt house elf around would only distract him. Surprisingly enough she was willing to comply with no argument and he kept her happy by allowing her to stay here with her child and raise him as she saw fit. Most house elves were forced to give up their children upon birth and prehaps this is why the elf was so loyal to him. Remus having always been fond of babies was certainly sympathetic to her when he had found her and her son on the street after the two had been given dirty socks and forced to leave their previous masters home.

"Yes Master," the house elf bowed and her eyes looked up at the slightly started witch, "Will the Missus be liking to be shown her rooms now? Hanna has prepared the lovliest rooms for the Missus."

Ginny could only nod as the house elf led her through the foyer and up the winding staircase, but as she reached the top she stopped and looked back at Remus.

"I'll see you for dinner," he grinned in a very wolfish manner, "Clean up and then Hanna will bring you downstairs."

She nodded then continued following the elf. Even for her just recently becoming a vampire her movements were like liquid and she seemed to glide as she walked. Something that made the werewolf inside him shiver with delight as he watched her retreating backside.
