Sneaking Out
Hermione pulled Harry’s Invisibility cloak more tightly around her body as she snuck out of the Gryffindor common room to meet Viktor. She was still feeling the bliss from the Yule Ball earlier that evening.
Viktor had danced with her and held her in his strong arms, and she had never felt more at home. He had comforted her in his quiet way after Ron had been so mean to her when he had seen her with Viktor at the dance, and it had felt wonderful to finally be the object of someone’s attention.
Hermione had never imagined it possible to be infatuated with a Quidditch player, yet when she looked down the stairs into the Entrance Hall and saw Viktor waiting for her, holding a package with a large red bow, her stomach felt queasy.
She slowly pulled the Invisibility cloak off her body and watched the smile dawn on Viktor’s dark features. She hurried down the stairs to stand in front of him, a shy smile gracing her face.
Viktor smiled back at her and immediately shoved the package into her hand. She carefully began untying the bow, knowing she would save it forever. She gasped in surprise when she opened the box to find a chain and a silver dragon pendant, a pendant crafted in the likeness of the Chinese Fireball he had taken on in the Triwizard Tournament.
Hermione watched as Viktor gently picked up the chain and pendant and motioned for her to turn around. Hermione turned and lifted her hair from the back of her neck. Viktor gently fastened the clasp on the chain, and before Hermione could lower her hair, he pressed a kiss to the back of her neck.
Hermione felt herself start to shake as her stomach flip-flopped. It was the closest she had ever come to intimate contact with a boy, and she was scared she would do the wrong thing.
Viktor placed his hands on her waist and spun her around to face him. He was smiling, something he rarely did, as he lifted his hands to cup Hermione’s face. He gently lowered his mouth onto hers, brushing her lips in a chaste kiss.
Hermione could hear the pounding of her heart in her ears, but was also surprised to hear someone else talking nearby. She quickly recognized the voice as Filch, talking to his cat, Mrs. Norris. Without thinking, Hermione grabbed Viktor’s hand and pulled him into an alcove off the side of the entrance to the Great Hall, quickly draping the two of them in the Invisibility cloak.
Hermione could feel the heat under the cloak and knew it wasn’t just from the warm fires burning in the school. Viktor had her pressed up against the wall as his body rested against hers. In a normal situation, she knew she would be uncomfortable being so close with someone, but this was Viktor.
She shivered as he ran his fingers down over her flaming cheeks, down her arm to rest on the small of her back. As he pulled her in closer to him, her arms twined around Viktor’s neck.
Hermione knew she was in for some serious snogging as Viktor took her breath away on what she already considered the best night of her life.
