Spoilers for Book 7. Harry finally understands the True Power of his wands. D/H Sorry for the repost. I had to fix some mistakes. ^_~
Intertwining Destinies
Wands are finicky things.
The way they chose and then discarded their masters.
They are also sneaky son’s of bitches.
The way they connect two people.
Two souls.
Who would otherwise have nothing to do with one another.
Harry stared at the massive and impressive Manor in front of him. It was obvious that even with the large restitution they had to pay, the Malfoys weren’t hurting for cash.
He then looked down and at the wand in his hand.
It stopped working for him a couple of days ago.
Ever since he had read that announcement, in the Daily Prophet, celebrating the birth of Draco’s son Scorpious.
He had a feeling that this would happen one day; he just didn’t expect it to be so soon.
Not that eight years was soon, but…
He had actually grown rather fond of this wand.
The wand was not his original wand.
No, that one was destroyed years ago.
Good riddance, in Harry’s opinion.
Wands connect with the Sidhe of ones core. Their soul if you will.
No one bothered to tell him that, at the time, he was half possessed with the soul of one of the most demented and insane wizards to ever walk the Earth.
He knew about Brother Wands and who had his wand’s sibling, but….
He didn’t know that his wand would strengthen and cement the tie between them.
Connect them so undeniably that he would be able to see out of the very eyes of the master of his wand’s brother.
The wand he now calls the Eternal Poisonous Fire.
E.P.F. for short.
He was only told that he would do great things with it. And Harry was so enamored with all things magical, he took their words at face value.
He didn’t know that he was going to *have to* do great things with it.
Do it, or die.
No...
Do it *and* die.
No one informed Harry of *that* when his wand chose him.
No one told him that the materials of his wand also told a lot about the Master.
If they did… he probably would have done a little soul searching when his Holly and Phoenix feather chose him.
Then again… it was probably better that they didn’t tell him. Considering all that he was going to go through.
Harry glanced down at the wand in his hand, again, and rolled it between his fingers.
This one has a brother too.
All wands do, actually.
A perfect balance.
A yin and a yang.
Harry has both of these siblings.
One was called Elderwood.
The Wizarding World knew it as the "Elder's Wand."
The unbeatable wand.
Harry has it stored away in a safe place.
It is said to be the most powerful wand ever created.
But Harry knows that is not true.
It’s only half truth.
There are few who know the whole truth.
That Elderwood is not just a sibling wand but a twin.
It’s younger brother is called Sgitheach.
Draco called it Hawthorn.
They were created around the time Hogwarts was established and waited those thousand long years for powerful and worthy Masters.
They are probably two of the most potent wands ever created.
And dangerous beyond measure.
Elderwood was made to be a Warrior’s wand. It was undefeatable. Its True Master would be able to conquer any army and wield the Power to rule world, if he so wished it.
Hawthorn was a Healers wand. Its True Master could stave off Death and open the Door to the Otherworld. Even bring back the deceased or send souls to the Realm of the Dead without even uttering the Curse of Death.
However, at the time when Harry came into possession of them, he had no idea what he had.
Now that he knows, he doesn’t think Draco knew either. Or he would have bragged.
Draco, wouldn’t have used them to their infamous capabilities though.
Of that Harry is positive, because Draco is not a killer.
His sidhe would never allow him to be.
Not even to save himself or his family.
Draco thinks himself a coward because of it. Because even though he is deathly afraid to die, he would rather have himself murdered and sacrifice those he love, than kill.
It is the reason Hawthorn chose him.
Nevertheless, the guilt of his past indecisions were eating away at him.
Killing him.
Harry knows this because…
He’s had Draco’s wand all this time.
And their wands, Elderwood, and Hawthorn, are brothers.
It has connected them.
Bonded them.
Soul bonded them.
And that is how Harry knows that Draco now has a reason to live.
A reason to live up to his potential.
A reason to embrace his own great destiny.
And that reason is …
His son.
Hawthorn didn’t chose Harry as it’s master.
The Elderwood did.
It only allowed Harry to use it after he overpowered Malfoy, because Draco had already given up.
The blond *verbally* tormented people for years, but actually having to torture people, witness murders, and being sent on death missions destroyed his spirit and conflicted greatly with his inner Sidhe.
He couldn’t, and wouldn’t, kill and not even the threat of his own death could make him change his stand on that.
After Crabbe died, Draco was already at the point where he was accepting the fact that he was going to die too.
But that would have been disastrous.
For the entire Wizarding World
Because if Draco would have died…
The War would have been lost.
Harry left his thoughts and glanced down at the wand in his hand.
He wondered if Draco even realized how important his survival was to the victory to the side of the Light.
Because if Draco would have died…
His parents wouldn’t have had will, or the courage, to betray Voldemort.
And if Draco would have died…
Then so would his wand.
And then Voldemort would have lived.
Sgitheach didn’t want to die.
Neither did Elderwood, who had already abandoned Dumbledore and connected itself to Draco to save itself.
It was fate which allowed Harry to take Draco’s wand and through his connection with Hawthorn, became connected to and the master of Elderwood.
Elderwood was drawn to Harry’s strength and even stronger desire to *live.*
It was sheer coincidence that once again Harry and Voldemort faced each other with brother wands.
However, it was divine providence that wands couldn’t fight its siblings but…
They *could* turn against their masters.
Or “supposed” masters.
Voldemort was defeated by what he knew not…
And that was that wands were some finicky son’s of bitches.
Harry took a deep breath and chimed the door bell.
Might as well get this over with. The sooner he gives Hawthorn back the sooner he could get on with his own life. Though he knows that after this he was going to have to start using Elderwood.
It’s a last resort, but he had already tried other wands, but they were too inferior to channel his power. Even his originial wand eventually exploded when he tried to use it. And that was *after* he repaired it with the Elder's Wand.
Harry also knows that Ginny fears Elderwood.
Not because of the absolute power that Harry would be able to wield with. He has resisted the temptations of Hawthorn, after all.
She fears the connection it gives Harry to Malfoy.
Harry’s fixation with the blond has never gone away.
It’s actually gotten worse.
It’s just better concealed.
He’s even better at pretending not to be the first one to notice Draco when the blond enters a room.
Just as Harry knows, Ginny knows that their marriage only works because they both like the idea of their “fairytale romance” and the charades of normalcy.
After the war, Harry wanted an uncomplicated life. A wife, kids a nice home and his friends….
It was enough.
And if he had to keep the desires of his soul, hidden in his heart, then so be it.
It was enough.
It was just easier to hide his obsession, when he had his obsession’s wand.
When the grand front door of Malfoy Manor opened itself, a purple, female house elf waited on the other side.
“We have been expecting you, Master Harry Potter Sir.” It squeaked.
“Good then.” Harry nodded and held out the wand. He had not even bothered to cross the threshold.“Will you give this to your Master Draco? It would save me a load of trouble.”
The elf widened her eyes and stared at the wand fearfully. “Oh no!” She quickly wrapped her arms around her self and took a step back. “I not be touching that thing! That is between you and the old young Master!”
“I figured as much.” Harry sighed resignedly as he walked into the Manor. “I was just hoping I could find a way around it.”
The elf offered no alternate suggestions as it sent the raven haired man an aggrieved and wary glare. It just gestured for Harry to follow her into the back parlor.
The back parlor was a sun room. Brighter, warmer and more cheerful than any other part of the massive house. However, it filled Harry with as much dread as the rooms where his friends were tortured.
“I knew you’d come.” The young Lord admitted as he stood up to greet Harry.
As Draco walked toward him, Harry noticed that he was dressed in the wizarding style of Old Money. Robes of dark colors and high collars. Some things never changed. However, the air about him was different. He wasn’t the insufferable git of their adolescences, or the tormented soul of their late teens and early adulthood. This man before him had the countenance of a survivor. Someone who had the desire to *live* their life to the fullest.
“How… erm… did you know?” Harry asked even though he already *knew.* He just…wanted to hear Draco say it.
To verify their link.
Their bond.
Draco glanced down at his wand then reached out and brushed his fingers against the knotted wood, which was held perilously in Harry’s hand. “You may have wielded it, Potter, these many years… but I have always *known* that it was still mine.” He then looked up and into Harry’s eyes and gave him a knowing smirk as he cocked his head to the side.
He didn’t need to verbally admit it.
The bond made itself physically known.
Harry closed his eyes and fought back a sob as their connection seemed to solidify.
This was not what he….
Needed.
Merlin, no.
Wanted?
Yes…maybe…
But not what he needed.
He *needed* an uncomplicated life.
A gentle interruption. A simple clearing of the throat pulled Harry out of his ruminations. He opened his eyes and found Draco still in front of him and that both of them were practically holding hands as each held opposite ends of the Hawthorn Wand.
Draco looked abashed and guiltily stepped away with his wand in hand. He looked at his wife, as if silently apologizing for breaking a promise.
Harry looked surprised that he didn’t notice anyone else in the room. Usually, his heightened sense of awareness alerted him to even invisible intruders.
How quickly they fell back into their old pattern, of only having eyes for each other.
Even as mere acquaintances their relationship was too all consuming.
It was one of the reasons they chose to keep their distance from each other, even though they were no longer rivals.
When Harry glanced at the woman before him, he noticed that she held an infant, protectively, in her arms. And with her artificial smile and barely concealed rage, she silently seemed to challenge him.
Harry could tell that she knew about them and their patterns too.
Harry could also tell that this woman was a fighter, and she was not going to let go of her husband, the father of her child, without an all out War.
That was the other reason he and Draco stayed away from each other.
Because the Savior of the Wizarding World’s wife was of the same mind.
Harry was suddenly grateful that he chose to make this trip in secret.
And without Ginny.
He couldn’t bear to see that look on Ginny’s face.
Not again.
Not after she had forgiven him for that huge and destructive fit he had after they’d left Draco’s wedding three years ago.
And the bigger one he had only ten months past, after he found out that Draco’s wife was pregnant.
Ginny forgave him, though.
Soothed him.
And tended to his wounded soul and broken heart.
She even gave him what he always wanted.
Even as she pretended not to know what, no *who,* he Truly wanted.
She gave him a family.
For both of Harry’s fits resulted in the conception of his own children.
Sometimes, though…
Harry feels like she trapped him.
But that didn’t matter anymore, and he pushed that traitorous thought away because he had promised to devote himself to her and their family.
Moreover, Ginny was uncomplicated.
Harry left his thoughts and looked at Draco and his family. His wife looked like Narcissa. They looked like a younger version of the elder Malfoys. Just as Harry and Ginny looked like the former Potters.
It seemed that Draco wanted an uncomplicated life as well.
Harry wondered how long they were going to be able to resist the pull.
He doubted it would be much longer.
They’ve been fighting it the whole time they’ve known each other.
And it’s only gotten stronger.
He looked down at his empty wand hand and balled it into a fist. He could feel Elderwood calling to him. He also still felt the current of their bond through Hawthorn.
A sensuous tingle that promised so much more.
It promised everything he pretended he didn’t want.
It promised everything he was *afraid* to want, but needed so desperately.
It was enticing in a way the power of both Elderwood and Hawthorn wasn’t…
Harry glanced at Draco, who was giving off the impression of casual calm but desperately griping Hawthorn in the same manner he was clenching his empty fist, and came to an epiphany.
Hawthorn and Elderwood weren’t brothers at all
They we mates.
Lovers...
And they weren’t going to be denied much longer
Those wands had intertwining destinies…
Just like Harry and Draco.
The end
For now…

Thanks everyone who reviewed ^_^ It feels so good to be able to write again. My fear for Draco killed my muse for almost a year!
Chrissy- Thanks for reminding me about Harry's old wand ^_^
Paigeey07 and GummiBear- I'll try to get the next chapter out as soon as I can.
ThrnBrooke- sidhe means soul. When I was looking up hawthorn on Wikipedia, it started talking about the Otherworld stuff and sidhe. I thought it was pretty neat so I put it in my fic.
Miss Nikki- love ya too ^_^ sorry to scare you for a bit.

I know a lot of people hated the Epi. But I for one, liked it.
I read it first, on the internet, before the book came out because I didn’t think I could stomach reading DH if Draco died. Just the fear of his death, killed my muse. Luckily, I was happily surprised that JK was nice enough to not only mention him but actually *have* him in the last chapter. Especially, when so many semi-main characters were mere shout-outs or just not there.
Reading the epi saved me a lot of time and stress.
Moreover, it gave tons of bones to us D/H shippers .
JK didn’t give details of the state of the Malfoy’s. Not their money situation. Their status, their jobs, their restrictions, if any.
It’s all left up to US and our imagination. I for one, am very happy about that!
LONG LIVE FANFICTION!!!
Sure, she said Draco’s hair was receding *somewhat* but so what. It’s probably so little that its not worth noticing. It’s just that Harry notices EVERYTHING about Draco.
Moreover, He’s not bald and so what if he has a slight widows peak. Lucius looks hot with it. I’m sure Draco does too. And if he wore bangs we wouldn’t even notice it. See easy fix, if it really bothers you.
The Ginny and Harry thing. (sigh) Well, I think it would have happened no matter what. The Weasleys lost so much, and Harry felt it was his fault. I don’t think their marriage is about love though. I think it’s about obligation. At least on Harry’s part. I think Ginny just wanted to be “Harry Potter’s wife”. She’s been in love with his *fame* her whole life. I also think she trapped him with kids, to make sure he stayed with her. I also think she would turn a blind eye to his adultery if it meant keeping her status.
And I *do* think that Harry is cheating on her with Draco.
Unlike the others, nothing about Draco’s life seemed to surprise him. He just took in Draco’s appearance and his child’s and remembered how much Scorpious looked like the younger Malfoy. Then compared it to Al’s appearance and then to his own. It was like he couldn’t let go of the memories.
And *why* was Harry looking so hard anyway? No one else got such a physical description.
Hell, if it wasn’t for Harry’s comparisons between Scorpious and Albus Severus (which is a really horrible name by the way) I wouldn’t have even known that his other kids had red hair! And what kind of description was *that* to give his kids?!!
Only Albus alone had Harry’s coloring and Lily’s eyes. I’m paraphrasing here, because really, did Albus even have Harry’s coloring?
What the Hell, Harry?!!!
Was everyone else’s presence was just a side note?
But Harry *always* noticed Draco to such detail. But there was no malice in his words this time.
Let’s not forget Draco’s acknowledgment towards them…
Well, to me… it just seemed like something a guilty lover would do.
And I would *know*
My ex husband was a cheating BASTARD!!!!!
And that scene seemed all too familiar for my taste.
It actually pisses me off right now; even though, I’ve been divorced for years.
Ahem… anyway
Well, let me go. Like I said before, I am glad for DH. I think it was the most slashy I mean for D/H shippers, anyway. I mean Harry handles Draco’s wand, (snickers) and Draco rides Harry’s broom stick.. (hehehe) And Harry would have willingly died trying to ensure Draco’s survival from that fire. Ron knew it and said it. (romantic sigh) Hell, the book is called Harry Potter and the DH (LOL)
^___^
Let me go. Now, that I know Draco survived, my muse for Spell Master has returned. I just thank God that SM was AU from the beginning. And don’t worry, for those who like that fic. Since Severus never fell in love with Lily, he doesn’t die. ^_^
See ya later
