~*~-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------~*~
Voldemort was dead. Finally dead, after all these years. For the second time, the Wizarding world had erupted into joy and celebration at the death of the dark lord. Witches and wizards from all corners of the world were wearing emerald green robes, not caring who they were seen by be it muggle or not.
Though much of the world was celebrating, many others were torn between joy and sorrow. Many families, both wizarding and muggle, had suffered great losses in the struggle against darkness. Among those families was one, not related by blood but rather by circumstance. What started out as a group of witches and wizards aspiring for the downfall of Voldemort turned into nothing less than a tight-knight family. All of the Weasleys were included in this group, as well as Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and various others involved in the resistance. All were currently grieving their losses at The Burrow, home to the Weasleys. All but one, who too lost in his misery, had chosen to go into solitude for the time being.
Remus John Lupin sat quietly in his small home in Hogsmeade. The home was completely silent other than the soft sounds made by a dark haired baby reaching for the old mobile that spun magically above his crib. It had been nearly a month since the day the second member of that home had left for what would be the last time. Since then, the baby had been born, never to know his father.
There was a soft rustling sound as Remus stood from his spot on the old rickety rocking chair in the living room. It was the first time he'd moved from that spot all day, other than to use the loo. Making his way down the dusty hall with neatly hung pictures of various people, he turned into the baby's room, glancing around to check that all was well. Even though the dark lord had fallen, Remus could not help but be worried after what had happened. He walked over to the crib and smiled down at the baby boy, reaching down to brush his black hair from his forehead. Leaning over the crib, he placed a gentle kiss to his forehead then retreated back into the hallway. He walked a bit further down to another door which he opened, looking at the large bed as a small twinge of sadness hit him.
"Oh dear me would it hurt you to dust me off once in a while!" a rather aggravated female voice sounded suddenly into the silence.
Remus couldn't help but laugh as he looked at the mirror over the dusty old dresser. He walked over and magicked the dust off of her. "I'm sorry Celestine." he said, having forgotten that their bewitched mirror had a rather saucy attitude.
"Yes well, I suppose I'll let it slide just this once. How are you doing dear? With...well, without him." she said in a less bossy voice.
Remus gave a faint smile. "It could be worse you know. I mean at least I have a part of him with me still." he said, glancing out into the hall towards where the baby lay.
"You really are miraculous you know dear, if I was in your position I would be crumbling." she said in a sympathetic voice. As if she realized that that probably hadn't helped, she quickly backtracked. "Not that your situation is unbearable, I mean its sad but...well...you know what I meant!"
Remus laughed a little. "It was hard at first, and I did crumble for a while. I'm just getting tired of believing that he'll come back. Even sicker of pretending that it's not so bad, just wait it out. I know it's bad but I have to move on and that's exactly what I'll do for my baby's sake." he gave her another half-smile, and turned away from her for a moment. He hadn't slept in this bed since that day, and it was about time for him to get back to his life. With a wave of his wand the bed was completely void of dust and it made itself, fluffing its own pillows and re-hanging the canopy.
"That's better." he said, slightly more up beat now as he turned back to Celestine. "I think I'll take little Sev to Honeydukes to get him his first Chocolate Frog." he said.
"Have a good time dear, and bring back a licorice wand?" she asked hopefully.
"But you can't eat it, can you?" he asked a bit confused by this.
"Well no, but they just look so tasty! But fine, if you don't think this old mirror is worth anything." she said sounding hurt.
"No! I didn't mean it that way, calm down I'll bring you a whole bundle!" Remus said as he left the room to gather little Severus.

Well there is the first chapter! It's a bit short, but I hope you like it none the less. It's the first time I've written any type of fanfiction in a very long time. And don't worry, we'll get into the romance and sex later on. I just wanted to establish the current situation! Please please please rate and review! Criticism both good and bad is welcome!
