Prologue
Prologue:
December 1981
Lucius Malfoy stared in shock at the book in his hands. He had known of its existence, but he had never thought he would actually see it. He had been looking for information on where the Ministry was hiding the Potter heir and instead found the Soul Book. He opened the front page and looked at hundreds of years of names. Each page listed a year and two names. The names signified the soul mates, and the date signified the date that each of the mates were born. There was also the place of birth and the family name. It was a rare thing to be mated with your soul mate and in the Wizarding World everything that was possible was done to reunite the two lost souls.
As far as Lucius knew, there hadn’t been a soul mate couple in almost a hundred years, and he was positive that it had never occurred in his family. He quickly looked around to make sure he was still alone and sat down and thumbed through the pages. When he got to the last entry of the book his mouth dropped open as the book flew to the floor. “No!” he hissed. Frantically racing to the floor to pick the book up and read the page again.
Draco Lucius Malfoy 6/18/1980
Son of Lucius Malfoy and Narcissa Black Malfoy
And
Harry James Potter 7/31/1980
Son of James Potter and Lilly Evans Potter
“No! It can’t be!” he cried to himself. “My son can’t be the soul mate of my lord’s murderer!” He would never allow this to happen! Taking the book in his hands he apparated home.
Pacing in front of the fireplace he wondered what he could do to stop this travesty from happening. He could never let his family be aligned with “The Boy Who Lived”. Every death eater in the world would be after him.
“What is wrong, dear?” Narcissa said walking in the room. She could tell that her husband was agitated.
“Nothing, my love. Why don’t you go and check on Draco. I will be up in a moment,” he said shoving the book in a drawer. He knew that to her it would be an honor to have a soul-matched pair in the family.
Narcissa raised her eyes at her husband and wondered what he was up to. She had thought that with the disappearance of Lord Voldemort that Lucius would calm down and become a normal husband and father. She pretended that she didn’t see him putting the book into the desk and walked out of the room. Hiding in the next room she waited from him to leave and then quickly went to his desk.
Pulling the drawer open she gasped as she read the cover. Opening it, she thumbed through until she got to the last page. “Oh!” she gasped again. “Oh no!” she cried. She knew that her son’s life would be forfeit if anyone ever found about this. She was married to a death eater and a death eater’s son did not marry the child who killed their lord. Wiping a tear from her eye she took the book and tossed it into the flames. As much as it killed her to deprive her son of his soul mate, it would kill her more if her son were to die. Nobody could ever know of this!
