I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Hogwart's-A History
Disclaimer: The only characters I own are Kenly and Ryon McMasters. MJ belongs to her creator and all the rest are owned by J.K. Rowling. The timeline for this story, and the ones to follow in this line, is not accurate to that of the entire HP universe, simply because I don't want it to be.
This story is based on a roleplay LDF and I started... years ago and continue to enjoy, warping the HP universe to fit with the LotR, and AB, along with our own. So, please. Do not come and try to chop my head off for inaccuracies. I know they're there. It's on purpose.
Also... There's no sex or raunch in the first chapter, and probably not in the second or third, but it will come, I promise.

Ch. 1: Getting Time to Reflect
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kenly and MJ raced through the halls, streaking past open classroom doors, books held tightly to their chests. Once again, they were late for Divination. Professor Trelawney had told them last time that if they were late again, it was a month of detention, as well as a trip to Professor McGonagall's office. The trip to McGonagall's neither of them minded. It was the detentions they didn't look forward to. However, here they were, once again late and huffing up the stairs to the Divination class tower.Trying to sneak in, Kenly opened the trap door just a hair, glancing around. Trelawney was near the top of the dias that the class circled her on, bent over the table Seamus Finnigan and a pale-haired girl named Ryon McMasters shared. She put her fingers to her lips, shushing Parvati Patil as she and her sister slipped up through the floor, quietly replacing the door and and slid into their seats at a table near Dean Thomas and Lavendar Brown, who both snickered at them. Kenly grinned, thinking they had triumphed, the look wiped clean from her face as a hand came down on her shoulder. She followed the hand up its bangled wrist, on up the arm and ended at Professor Trelawney's be-specticalled face. Offering a sheepish smile at the teacher she knew they'd been caught.
Storming out of Divinations, heading down the spiralling stairwell towards their study hall in the Great Hall, MJ muttered about having to spend a month's worth of detentions for 'that silly crack-pot'. Before heading to the Hall, however, she and her sister had to stop off at the class of their head of house for a lecture on being on time to class, 'regardless of how important you think it might or might not be to your future'. She crumpled the parchment a bit more in her fist as she and Kenly seperated themselves from the throng of students heading for study hall, veering down the hall that would take them to the Transmutation classroom, and their lecture.
After the lecture, Professor McGonagall had left the sisters to 'reflect on their choice of actions' and to stew with the fact that they would not only be serving detention with Trelawney, but that they would serve detention with a different teacher each week of their month of detentions. She informed them that the first week would, indeed, be served with Trelawney, but that as further punishment, and to help them remember to be on time, they would also serve it with Hagrid, Professor Lupin, and then Professor Snape. On top of it all, she deducted fifty points from Griffindor for the repeat offense of tardiness.
Kenly wanted to throw her book across the room after McGonagall left, but she knew if she did she'd just have to go pick it up again, and that angered her even more, so she kicked her desk, wincing as pain shot up her leg from the ill-attempt at channeling her anger. Four weeks of detention. With four different teachers! And what was worse, they were deducted points! She thought this course of action was so unfair. They had only been late... She stopped to count the number of times they'd been late to Divinations... They'd only been late six times. And that was in a whole semester. They had, however, turned all their homework in on time to try and make up for it, but did that batty old twit notice? No. She gave them detention. Four weeks worth! Thirty days! At least their trip into Hogsmeade hadn't been taken from them. For that she was grateful.
Moving down the hall towards the stairwell, she spoke to her sister about the weeks to follow. "What do you think they'll make us do? And who are you looking forward to the least? I know I don't want to serve detention with Snape... And I'm not really looking forward to Professor Lupin's detention, either."
MJ smirked as she adjusted her books in the crook of her arm. "Yeah. Snape's going to be a bastard to serve with. I'm so not looking forward to scrubbing cauldrons for hours a day, seven days in a row. Other than that... I'm betting Trelawney's going to have it in for us. I really don't see why you're so worried about Lupin, though. He seems nice enough. It can't be too bad. I mean, he hardly gives us homework, and his classes are always interesting, if not just plain fun." Grinning, she added, "Besides, I've seen how you look at him. You've got a thing for him, don't you?"
Kenly paled at the accusation. "Are you daft? For one, he's a teacher. For another... you're just crazy." Despite her objections, Kenly flushed. "Besides, he's too old for me, don't you think?"
MJ left out a bark of laughter as they came upon the doors to the Great Hall. "We'll talk about this later." Allowing Kenly to precede her into the Hall, she took the time to glance around and mentally tally off who all was sharing their study hall. She noted that most of the Griffindors were there, as were a handful of Slytherins, including Malfoy and his cronies. Besides that, she recognized a few of the Ravenclaws and registered that the teachers there were Professor Snape, Madame Hooch, and Professor Flitwick.
Study hall passed without incident and the girls moved off to the Griffindor tower, intent on relaxing for an hour or so before dinner. In their dorm room, MJ pulled Kenly onto her four-poster bed and drew the drapes closed, placing a silencing spell on the interior so anyone entering couldn't eavesdrop on their conversation. Her eyes twinkled as she laid her wand on the bed before her. "So? Why didn't you tell me you had the hots for the DADA teacher? You tell me everything, you little scab."
Kenly grinned sheepishly, pushing a lock of lavendar hair behind her ear. "I didn't think you'd care. Besides, it's just a little crush. It's not like anything will come of it. Like I said, he's our teacher, and older than me."
MJ scoffed, leaning back on the bed, putting her arms behind her head. "Please, chickadee. He's not that much older than we are. Besides," she shrugged as best she could while laying as she was, "he's not that bad looking, I suppose. If you like scruffy and world-worn." She grinned at the last, pulling her feet up away from her younger sister so she couldn't steal her shoe.
Deciding against tackling her sister for her shoe, Kenly leaned back against one of the posts at the bottom of the bed. "Do you think he even registers me? I mean as more than just a Griffindor student in second block on even days?" Sighing, she stared at the cloth-covered ceiling of the bed's interior. "Why am I even entertaining this train of thought, MJ? We have more important things to do than fantasizing about boys. I have time for that after Hogwart's. Or, at least after this semester and summer starts..."
MJ sat up and regarded her sister thoughtfully, her own blood red locks cascading down around her shoulders to frame her pale face. "Ken... Do you ever think about mom and dad? I mean... I know you were just little when... But... Do you remember them at all?" She looked down at her wand, suddenly finding it very fascinating, avoiding meeting her sister's gaze.
Kenly sighed again and shook her head. "No. Honestly, I don't remember them. I... I only remember you. It's just always been us. Where do you think we'll be shipped to this summer? That last orphanage wanted nothing to do with us after the last... incident. Maybe Dumbledore will let us stay here over the summer?"
MJ didn't want to talk about such things. She didn't want to have her mood ruined any more than it had been already, due to the detentions and everything. Without answering, she waved the spell away and crawled out of her bed, grabbing her sister by the wrist and pulling her along with her, taking the stairs down into the common room.
Collin Creevey and Dean Thomas were in a corner near the windows playing exploding snap and the three Griffindor 'heroes' were sitting near the fire, presumably doing homework as they each had a parchment in their laps, Hermoine obviously on her third foot of it, clearly out-writing her male counterparts, as always. Besides these five, a few others were scattered about doing one menial thing or another. MJ walked right past all of them and headed out of the portal that the Fat Lady guarded, intent on going to the owlery, waving off the painted woman's warnings for leaving the dormatory before dinner.
