To Live or die; the choices of life
Disclaimer: I don’t own any of the characters. All belong to J.K. Rowling.
Author note: This is my first Harry Potter story, but definably not my first fanfic. Reviews mean a lot to me, but don’t bother flaming. I don’t listen to it, and I’m looking to borrow Fluffy to eat any flame I get. Also, this story will have Slash in it at some point, most likely starting at the next chapter. No Mpreg in this one, but if I write a sequel, that may have it.
To anyone following my other stories that I haven’t updated in like 2 years, SORRY! Been super, super busy! I will try to catch up on them, just be patient with them. I had to get this bug out first.
To Live or die; the choices of life
The idea may seem abnormal to most. Fight, kill, die. Harry shook his head. It shouldn’t matter anymore what is going to happen. They have a right to live without fear; to live in a place were they can walk in the streets without having to have a wand in their hands. To not have to wonder if that mark is going to appear over their houses, if they will ever see their loved ones again.
He was supposed to save them. He is supposed to change their lives, to kill Voldemort, to end his reign of fear. And he planned to.
Making one last correction on the parchment in front of him, Harry placed it on the bed. His Invisibility Cloak was there, along with the Maurader’s map and his wand. He had already sent Hedwig to the Burrow with a message. It was almost the end of the school year. All of his friends and fellow Gryffindors were still in the entrance hall, saying goodbye for the summer. And suddenly, all Harry wanted was to go down and be with them.
But he had a job to do.
It had taken him all year to finally force himself to make the decision. After the incident at the Ministry, where so many could have died, he knew that this couldn’t continue. He owed that to Sirius. Far too many innocent lives had been taken since Voldemort had returned. But his plan would hopefully stop that.
Last year, in the graveyard, Harry had seen that their wands could not be used against each other. He was going to use that to his advantage. Once their wands connected, and the power barrier came around them once more, he was planning on taking all of the energy and all of the power into himself. It had taken him all year to find a way to do that, but now it was possible. Inside his robe pocket was the amulet that would help him harness the power. His goal was to force their wands to stay connected long enough to trap the energy, the turn it into the most powerful killing curse. The backlash was that if it succeeded, everything in the area would be affected by the curse. And Harry himself would die.
But better him than a million others. It was his destiny. And he was finally going to live up to it. Without another thought, he grabbed the cloak, disappeared under it, and began his journey out of Hogwarts.
BREAKBREAKBREAKBREAK
“Do you think he’s ok?” Hermione had been asking the same question for almost an hour now. She and Ron had tried to convince Harry to come down with them, but he insisted that he had to do something else. Hermione was used to Harry being secretive, it came with being the Boy Who Lived, but she was also convinced that something else was going on, that something else was changing Harry.
“Mione, if Harry won’t talk to us, we can’t help him. Harry will talk to us when he’s ready,” Ron collapsed onto a bench, “Besides, it’s Harry. He probably just misses Sirius”.
“What if it’s serious this time?” Hermione sat beside Ron, reaching into her book. Ron read the cover. What Is Your Friend Really Thinking About? Ron laughed.
“Hermione, answers can’t always be found in books. I think your reading too far into this. Literally,” Ron took the book from her hand and put it on the table, “Harry will be back to normal by the time that school starts up again. Then you’ll pester him about classes, and he’ll lead our Quidditch team and we will beat Slytherin. Again!”
Hermione watched Ron fro a minute. He flipped through the book, laughing at a few of the quotes, and handed it back to her. She took it, looked at the cover, and smiled.
“Maybe. I just feel like it’s different this time”.
“Hermione…”
“What’s this? A Mudblood and a Mudblood lover? Where’s your savior? Or did he finally get sick of putting up with you?” Draco had just entered the Hall with Goyle and Crabbe. Ron jumped to his feet, pointing his wand at Draco.
“Mr. Weasly, put down your wand. If it was no the end of the school year, you would have just lost your house 10 points. As it is, I am sourly tempted to take points from your house from next year all ready” Severus Snape approached from behind Ron. Ron lowered his wand, not wanted to tempt the potions master.
“I am also curious as to why Mr. Potter has not joined us tonight. I would have thought he would be the attached to you two, seeing as he won’t see you this summer,” Snape continued.
“He’s not feeling well, sir,” Hermione offered, thinking of ways to keep Harry out of trouble. Snape seemed to think that if Harry wasn’t in sight, he was up to no good. As it was, he was usually right.
“Has he seen Madam Prompfrey?” Snape continued, looking at Hermione. She suppressed a shudder, knowing that he wanted to use legimancy on her, and couldn’t from the rules placed on the teachers.
“No sir. He was just going to rest I believe”. Snape stared at her for another moment, then shook his head.
“I am deeply surprised that Mr. Potter did not decide to use it to get more sympathy to him. As it is, he gets more than enough. Not that he thinks so.”
“You’re wrong!” Ron snapped. Snape turned his head and walked up to him.
“Watch yourself Mr. Weasly. It may be the end of the school year, but I am still a professor and demand that you treat me like one,” With that, Snape walked into the Great Hall. Draco smirked at them, and followed Snape, taking his seat at the Slytherin table.
“I want to go check on Harry,” Hermione walked away before Ron could stop her. He swore, then followed her. She didn’t say anything the entire way, but as they got closer she started walking so fast she was almost running.
“Mione, I’m sure he’s fine. Slow down!” Ron demanded, trailing after her. She ignored him, spoke the password to the portrait, and walked up the stairs to the 5th year’s rooms. She entered, stopped and looked around.
“Maybe he’s in the bathroom. Or in the Great Hall?” Ron offered, walking over to the bathroom. Hermione walked over to Harry’s bed and picked up the parchment that he had left there.
Hermione and Ron;
I’m sorry I didn’t say good bye to you. I knew that it would be harder to leave if I did. I want to stop this. The prophecy says that only I can stop Voldemort. So that’s where I’m going. I owe Sirius that much. I don’t believe that I’m going to survive this. I have a plan, and even if I do die, at least I’m taking him with me. Take care of yourselves.
Harry
p.s. I sent Hedwig to the Burrow with a note saying thank you to your family Ron. It really meant a lot that
there was someone there to help me. You are really lucky. So are you Hermione.
“Ron, we have to stop him! We have to find Dumbledore!”
Review and tell me what you think please? It would mean a lot .Also, leave a not about whom you think Harry should be paired with. I haven’t made up my mind yet, and may use the most common suggestion. REMINDER! They are just suggestions! Does not mean I will use them for sure! I still want to hear your ideas though!
Thanks for reading! ^_^
