Betrayal by All
Betrayal by All by Eroburn
They all left, as they always do. Some wondered what had made Lord Voldemort as horrid as he was but none questioned that he was terrible. Many feared his name and few dared to speak it. They called him You-Know-Who and whispered in quiet voices when talking about him. Not many living knew the reason Lord Voldemort had entrenched his soul in the black arts. He was a slytherin and while he might have needed power to accomplish his goal it was not his primary objective. He sat on his throne and sneered at his quivering servant. He held the Crucio on his servant feeling the terror of a young green-eyed teen as he lay in his bed feeling the sting of it. He no longer had a heart to care with, but he remembered when he was a small boy that he was held under the water until he could no longer breath. He felt as much terror then as the young boy felt now. All of Lord Voldemort's servants cringed as their lord smiled and then gleefully laughed as the blood started to trickle out of the death eaters ears and mouth. The death eater did not survive.
Lord Voldemort wanted revenge on all those who had betrayed him. Even now there were betrayers in his midst. One would have thought that he would have been placed in hufflepuff, with as much emphasis as he put on loyalty, but he was not loyal himself. It was rare for him to trust anyone besides himself. It had been proven that no one could be trusted. Every single person from the time he had been born had betrayed him. He relished the pain the death eater felt as its pathetic life was ended. He would not abide traitors for long. He had known Professor Snape was less than completely loyal but the pathetic man still had his uses in other ways, such as feeding bad information to the twinkling dead man that had formally headed his opposition. When the Dumbledork had died Snape lost his usefulness. The ministry was already in his pocket, and the order was decimated.
"Let this be a lesson to you all, Betray me and you will die a most torturous death. My mark is forever. There is no where you can hide. There is no where you can run. There is no thought you've had that I do not know. Betrayal is death. Be warned." With those terrifying words Lord Voldemort sent his death eaters away with a wave of his hand. Nagini, his companion, would shortly be on the execution block. She had grown too powerful. She had even dared to tell him to give mercy to one of his followers one day. She thought herself above such things as punishment. That's where she was wrong. It was only a matter of time until that Potter boy turned her to his side. He wasn't willing to let that happen. It was better that she be dead than a traitor.
Nagini slithered in and did not even see the Avada Kadavera that came her way and had she seen it, she wouldn't have believed it. The boy with the green eyes shivered and cried in his cupboard under the stairs. He dares not scream or he would get a worse beating from his caring *cough* family. He didn't dare not make a sound as he felt the curses through his body. He had felt them so long that this was an easy night. This was a night when he would sleep.
Lord Voldemort grinned at the thoughts of Potter. He would not be long in that house of his. He soon would be turned. He didn't even need to convert the boy to his side. He just had to mark him. He no longer wished the boy dead. He had driven Potter almost insane with the continual bouts of Cruciatus. No, Potter wasn't light any longer. Bellatrix was even more sane than Potter was but he was infinitely better at hiding it. It seemed almost impossible to Voldemort that the boy wasn't sorted into slytherin. His reign of terror was almost complete.
Lord Voldemort thought back to when it had all started, to the time when he was betrayed by all of humanity. He had grown up in an orphanage. This was no easy task as he was given little food and beaten often by the filthy muggles. His mother had seen fit to leave him. She had left no instructions for his care and he didn't know any of her family members. He now knew that she had many alive back then. That was the first betrayal he was given. The second was when he was dropped at the orphanage by his father. There were many over the years. The day he vowed to destroy humanity was when he was around eight years old. A woman had come to the orphanage. She was a teacher at a muggle college. She wasn't really pretty or very nice but she was brilliant with words and he slowly grew to love her.
The muggle woman finally decided to adopt him. She brought him home from the orphanage on that a Monday. Apparently he could never do anything right. She refused to love him or understand him at all. After all he wasn't used to her rules or obeying anyone really but himself. After putting a dish in the wrong cabinet she yelled and yelled and yelled until finally she slapped him. She did not look horrified at her actions or in the least bit repentant. She just got a sickening grin on her face and said to go to bed. The next day he was dropped back at the orphanage. One of the children there made fun of an unlovable freak he was.
The next day the teachers face was plastered all over the front page of the newspaper. She had been murdered most horrifically. They said that she had been tortured for no less than ten hours and that she had screamed so much her throat bled. The papers didn't know all of the details. The never caught the murderer. Of course Tom knew who had killed her at least unintentionally. He had dreamt wicked dreams the night before of her gruesome murder. He grinned at the details. The boy who had called Tom names didn't survive another week and also was in the papers. He had died at his new family's home after he had been adopted. Tom thought it was a lesson in choosing your words wisely.
Betrayal in his new world would not be tolerated or they wouldn't survive to live in it.
