The Usual
Walking down the dimly lit hallways, whispers and pointing assailed the young man. But that was the usual. So were the stories. People who stared in awe, in reverence, but the worst were always the people who stared in horror.
The young man continued his walk down the hallways. Ignoring everyone around him was also part of the usual. If he'd stopped walking (or whatever he was doing) every time someone questioned his motives, he would never have gotten where he was.
A young girl with the biggest blue eyes he had ever seen, walked up to him and very nervously asked him the usual. "How could you let him trick you into such a thing? Don't you know you've thrown your life away?"
But questions like that, although rude, were also considered the usual for the young man.
Knowing a third year shouldn't be asking such things, he simply smiled his most convincing smile, the one he used every time someone asked him the usual. He stated he hadn't been tricked. He had wanted to be bonded with such a person. A person who not only was beautiful inside and out, but a person who understood him. Of course, he only thought the last sentence. His lover would kill him if he leaked that his love had a good personality and a heart.
The young man slowly walked down the stairs, leading into his home... or as Albus called it, 'his love nest'. Smiling to himself, he thought of his spouse. All the little things he loved about the relationship. The things that endeared the emerald eyed young man to his bonded, his mate. The way the toothpaste, no matter what, was always missing the lid by the third day they owned it. How he always had to pick up the haphazardly thrown clothes after a night of passion; his lover was always too tired to get out of bed until at least four hours of sleep had passed.
'Finally,' thought the young man as he reached their chamber doors. The sanctuary he could call 'their home'. How long had he waited to say such a thing?
He opened the door and ran inside, eager to see his spouse.
"Severus! I'm home!" He anxiously ran up to his lover. Throwing his arms around him, he gave him the usual kiss after being away. He had missed him today.
"How was your day today, Harry?" his lover asked after returning the kiss. He looked down at the energetic, lovely creature he was bonded to, thinking just how lucky he was to have him.
"Oh, just another boring day spent with paperwork, luv. You know, the usual."
Severus simply raised him eyebrow at Harry in understanding, giving him the usual smile showing his internal caring.
And it just faded off into The Usual.
