The Dungeons of Hogwarts were usually quiet, dismal places with nary a soul around after class hours. During one particular spring evening it was erupting in shouts, kept in the Potions classroom by silencing charms, but still bouncing through the walls of the room. Arguing between a teacher and student.

I pulled myself out of the day we ever had to meet

“How can you say that, Sev!” Roared the student.
“It’s over, Potter,” Spat the older man in his low evil voice.
“No it isn’t, you’re just being a git,” Harry muttered, heart shattering.

Silence. Getting past their last names had been a big step in the beginning of the relationship, now it was as if they’d gone all the way back to the start. Snape’s eyes narrowed.

“Are you finally consenting, Potter?” He muttered softly. Harry knew he’d wounded him, it meant something. No way in hell was he giving up now.
“No! I care about you, Sev. I won’t let you throw us all away.”

Harry pondered a moment, “If you're that worried about Voldermort you can hide.”
“I will not hide, I’ve already done his worst deed..”
Silence passed between them, being reminded of Dumbledore was tough. Finally Snape cleared his throat, “Potter, you know I can’t apologize.”
Harry narrowed his eyes, tears forming in the corners though they failed to fall. “Stop digging this up…”

“It’s like being in hell, Harry! We skirt around it instead of moving onward. I can’t apologize for something I knew I had to do. You of all people should understand.”
Harry was silent and Snape sighed again, “Would you rather bring this into your grave, Harry? Or can we finally talk about it?”
