Turning
A/N: I had this idea and had to put it out there, although it's probably been done before...Well, R&R, PLEASE.
++Edited: Draco isn't 'redish' anymore, now he is 'pearly'. It's to make more sense later.

It was a rare sunny day at Hogwarts. Just that kind of Sunday afternoon that seemed to want show everybody how fortunate they were to be in just that exact place of Earth they were. It was such a nice day that one couldn`t help but expect that, sooner or later, something would happen to break that peace.
----------------------
Since it was almost a crime to stay inside on such a day, Harry and company hurried, dressing in lighter clothes and - in Hermione's case - grabbing a few lighter books for pleasure-reading, to step out of the castle's entrance and it's constricting stone walls. But, as it would be, Harry went ahead as his two best friends got in yet another row about the necessity of doing homework on a Sunday. Even before he could take that first step out towards a relaxing time, the black haired boy noticed the vibration going on outside. Bouts of over-hipper magical energy - more than the normal Sunday hip, by the way - were filling everywhere, the air was charged, moving over the heads of the oblivious students laid out on the grass.
Something interesting was going on.
Harry immediately went to follow the buzzing energy, practically forgetting about his friends left behind. But he ended up having a long way to go, only after crossing Green House 8, 9 and a large field, could he see what it was all about.
Before his stunned, green eyes was an enormous dragon. With golden, gleaming scales and all it stood huffing, apparently annoyed at a small crowd gathering at it's feet, in the middle of a high hill and surrounded by an obviously magical fog - one that could have been meant to serve the purpose of warding off said annoying people. Even from the distance he was, Harry could see, stunned, that it was very big indeed but, surprisingly, everyone present - Harry thought he could identify Snape among them but wasn't sure - was behaving calmly and didn’t seem afraid of the gigantic beast that could, easily, crush them like bugs, a lot were actually trying to reach out and touch it.
At first, Harry had stopped dead when it came into view but now, as the shock wore off, Harry cautiously approached the scene. Something was definitely wrong - more that the obvious, with a dragon in the school grounds -, and that’s when he saw Hagrid. The half-giant had been standing between the crowd, a little off to the side of the dragon, having been, previously, blocked from view. Oh no, not again. And in the open like this! Harry couldn’t help the tight apprehension building up, his big friend must have tried to take a on new pet again. Doesn’t he learn from experience? And it`d be really hard to help him this time, now that everyone`s already seen! Judging that it was safe to come closer, since there didn’t seem to be any dead bodies yet - that dragon was probably really tame - Harry went to try and sneak closer to talk to Hagrid.
Harry identified the other Hogwarts' teachers and took advantage of the fact that they weren't paying attention to the half giant, slightly behind them, to approach. The man was staring up at the animal, slack jawed, with an awed look on his face, and didn’t seem to notice Harry coming to stand at his side. But the boy also got a bit distracted when he came to stand there, so close. From that distance he could see the creature very well, and what a beautiful dragon it was. Harry had already had his fill of life-threatening animals before - specially when they came with Hagrid -, but this one actually seemed to glow, it's pearly scales shined gold in the sun and, instead of a living creature, this one seemed almost like a moving work of art standing there. Hmm, maybe it is one. Some kind of a magical statue, or something. That would explain it being safe.
But Harry's theory was crumbled when the dragon lost it's patience with the little people surrounding it - and apparently trying to poke it to death - and began to flap it's wings threateningly, puffing a little cloud of fiery smoke from it's mouth. That also managed to snap Hagrid out of it.
- Oh, Mr. Malfoy, please calm down! I've 'ready sent someone for Dumbledore. He`ll be here in an instant for ye. - the Care of Magical Creatures teacher said, addressing the dragon, and was promptly ignored.
What? Malfoy? Is he calling the dragon Malfoy? Now, more confused than ever, Harry turned around and yanked on Hagrid's sleeve, finally getting his attention.
- Hagrid, what is going on? And what is a dragon doing here? - Harry tried to whisper, but before he could hear his friend's response, he was found out. McGonagal turned around and glared directly at him, trying to drag him forcefully away from the mortally dangerous - but pretty - dragon.
That’s when, before his Head of House could tear him a mere feet away or even mutter a word of admonishment, everybody froze and Harry quickly spined back towards the dragon. Only to see the enormous animal he'd been admiring not a moment ago began to transform and shrink, until it began to take an unmistakable human form.
- And that was your big idea, you oaf? - a familiar voice not so much drawled but seethed angrily - As if anyone would miss a dragon standing in the middle of Hogwarts' grounds, even Potter is here! And it's all just to WAIT for Dumbledore?! I should have never went to you! - bellowed the blond boy standing now just where the dragon had been.
- But...I just wanted to see it. - Hagrid whispered quietly before the angry words.
-------------------------
Draco had worked so hard to become an Animagus. Months of work and research to finally be able to achieve that stage and conker the power, the freedom, he`s always dreamed of. All thrown to the wind by a simple, meager, stupid mistake.
Oh, why did he have to ask the assistance of the duffbag of a half-giant?!
Not only was his secret revealed to the whole school faculty but now he'd be persecuted by whatever means the School Board deemed necessary to punish him. It seemed that for an underage boy to not only become an Animagus, but end up a very dangerous magical creature, in their eyes, was not very good indeed.
Damn it! Draco through as he made his way to the headmaster's office, escorted on both sides by McGonagal and Snape as they'd dragged him inside just when he`d gone back to his human form.
Draco could now only keep shooting murderous glares at the floor and willing them to carry his intent and do the most damage possible to Hagrid. His first mistake, that led toward where he was now, was probably doubting his own capacity to do everything alone. After infinite times of preparation as the time came for his actual first try at transforming Draco had, at an inglorious moment of self doubt - and, conceding, a bit of fear -, decided he needed assistance for the ultimate moment.
What sad, unfortunate thought to come upon. He'd ruled out asking his House mates for assistance as he didn’t want his newfound power to be know by the wrong people - the last thing he wanted was to end up a war weapon - so that left the teachers: and who better, between them, that could help if something went wrong - and also be obliviated if necessary - than their Care of Magical Creatures professor?
His second, and fatal, mistake was to actually go along with Hagrid's ingenious plan. Why didn’t he see that transforming in broad day light, in a hill behind the castle, protected only by a thin, dubious, disillusionment fog couldn't actually be a good idea? Although, he had to admit, it'd had some credit - Draco shuddered to think what would've happened to him or the castle`s structure if he were to attempt his transformation in a closed, small space.
But the fury didn’t leave Draco as he remembered the look on Hagrid`s face when a tong of teachers clearly saw them and the man just stood there gazing at him dumbly, as if he'd suddenly found his one true love. He also recalled that inbetween the haze of the successful turning - and the surprise to discover that the animal he'd become was actually a dragon! - , Draco felt an almost uncontrollable urge to burn to crisp all his professors. With even a never-heard-of-before heat going up his throat with the trilling promise of clouds of smoke and fire.
But as fate would have it, he couldn’t even take in the joy of his so anticipated, first transformation ever. As soon as the first death glare left his eyes he was hoarded out of there and into the castle with Snape snapping at him that Dumbledore wanted to see him.
