Cupid Painted Blind

Chapter 1. . “Love looks with the heart and not with the mind and so is winged cupid painted blind”

For Harry the day started just like any other. He woke to the joy of a big comfy bed, friends and the knowledge that he was a wizard, stark contrast to a little more than seven years ago, and a welcomed change.

Soon he would turn eighteen which is considered of age in the wizarding world. He was pretty much set for life after all he had a house in London left to him by Sirius, a massive Gringotts vault filled with money and the promise of a good job when he graduated as an Aurora for the ministry of magic.

There was one thing that he had an all consuming itch for that just couldn’t be scratched, and that was a passion for a certain mysterious dungeon dweller.

It was always a great pleasure to be able to get on his broom and just fly; he seemed to do his best thinking there just him and the fresh morning air out on the quidditch pitch. Today though, he was not alone. The last thing he remembered was a sudden explosion of brilliant blue light and then all enveloping darkness.

Every morning without fail regardless of the weather Snape would enjoy a brisk walk around the lake it helped to wake him up and it was the last bit of peace and quiet he would be afforded for the day.

Every day he would see Harry trek out to the pitch and just as his walk drew to a close Harry would trek past, it was as regular as clockwork. They even exchanged clipped pleasantries. Today fortune dictated that his feet should wander to the pitch just to observe the competition to Slytherin he told himself.

He rounded the corner into the main arena and glanced up wondering if he would see the lithe Adonis from this view point or wether he needed to climb those confounded steps into a grandstand, when the sight that welcomed him took away his breathe.

Bereft of broom and plummeting a figure that could only be Potter. There was little time to do more than react but Snape’s action and reaction had been honed by years of necessity aka Voldemort and Death-eaters.

The fall was cushioned but the injuries were still serious a quick scan told Snape all he needed to know he was alive. Fate obviously adored him. Apparating in Potters current condition was not advisable but making it to the Medi-wing manually might not do any favours either.

The situation was dire, he summoned an owl. Hedwig perhaps sensing the situation responded and with determination flew faster than she ever had.

Gently Snape cast a motionless spell to ensure that Harry wouldn’t move a muscle either willingly or otherwise and levitated him, if someone had been nearby they may have noticed the look of total devastation upon the stoic Potion Masters face.

Half way to the Castle they were met by Madam Pomprey and Dumbledore, who conjured a marquee around them and a suitable bed beneath the hovering figure. Carefully Harry was lowered and in privacy administrations began.
