I Promise You (With Everything I Am)
“HARRY!!!” Draco yells from the front door.
“WHAT!?!” Harry yells back emerging into the hall from the kitchen.
“I know you wanted a quiet birthday this year, but!” The blond paused to kiss his boyfriend. “Get dressed, we’re gong out.”
“But Draco…I have dinner almost ready and I just wanted to sit down and eat quietly.” Harry pouts.
“Sweetheart, believe me, you’ll want to go where we’re going, but I can’t tell you until we get there. So, take supper off the stove and into the fridge, and we’ll heat it up when we get back if you want and I’ll make you dinner tomorrow, just the two of us…I promise.” Draco swore, placing butterfly kisses all over his Gryffindor’s visage as he spoke.
“Fine…but if you ruin my twenty first birthday, then I will have your testicles. Understand?” The brunet was dead serious, and Draco knew it.
“Yes, love, that’s why it’s so good! Now, let’s go get dressed!”
Twenty minutes later, Draco had been dressed for fifteen minutes, and had given Harry his outfit and was waiting for him to return from the bathroom. Damn prude he was.
“Harry love, are you ready yet?” He called.
“Yes, I am.” Harry replied emerging from the en suite in the gorgeous haut couture outfit that Draco had given him. A beautiful black and grey pinstriped button down with the bleached out and torn jeans that showed off Harry’s tight ass perfectly.
“Shall we?” He stepped over to Draco, but had a realization. “You haven’t told me where we’re going yet love.”
“Leave that to me. Now get over here so I can apparate us into Cambridge Center.”
“Cambridge Center!”
“Yes, now let’s go! We’re going to be late!”
With a pop and a snap the two men were in a side alley, and they could here screaming girls, excited girls.
“Draco, tell me where you’re taking me, or else I’m going back home.” The haughty brunet demanded.
“Well, I know how after the war you dove so deep into the arts, especially Muggle music, well we’re going to go see them damn Back Alley Boys you love so much.” Draco toed the dirt.
“YOU MEAN THE BACKSTREET BOYS!?!?!?” Harry squealed and jumped onto Draco in a huge hug.
“Yes…them…now Harry love, I love you too, but I need oxygen.” After being loosened considerably he continued. “Now, the show starts in ten minutes and we have back stage passes for after the show okay?”
“Yes, thank you so much! I can’t believe that you’d do this, after so much complaining about them…you’re the best…I love you.” He hugged the blond again and added a kiss for good measure. “And I know that you like them just as much as I do…”
“Okay, let’s go!”
They walked the short distance into the vast arena and were swallowed in the sound of the crowd immediately. They had front row seats, centre. All the “prostitots” were looking at them oddly, like they were in the wrong place, but the two didn’t care, although for different reasons.
The lights dimmed considerably and the “BSB” appeared on stage.
“Backstreet’s back alright!”
Several songs later, they’d already almost lost their voices singing. Harry seemed genuinely, extremely, happy for once. Draco had seen so much pain on that fragile face that he didn’t care that he had to sit next to a screaming twelve years old that was dressed like a common whore for three hours to see Harry losing himself in the moment for once.
“It’s in the silence that says, what words never say…”
Harry screeched at this, and Draco knew why. It was “their” song.
“I promise you,
From the bottom of my heart,
I will love you til death do us part,
I promise you as a lover and a friend,
I’ll love you like I’ll never love again,
With everything I am…”
They danced along, Harry singing quietly, shaking off the bint like preteens that kept trying to grind up against the two lovers, (they apparently loved Nick, who Harry though resembled Draco, by the ‘I heart Nick’ teeshirts) Draco put up a barrier spell to keep them away. The whole situation made him giggle actually. Yes, a Malfoy, giggle.
Several fast songs later, the boy band was finishing off with ‘I’ll Never Break Your Heart”, and the lovers were spinning around without a care once again.
They were brought back to their senses when the sharp bass sounds stopped and Harry looked up to Draco and asked. “Draco, how do we get back stage?”
“Oh…right…here.” He got the two passes out of his pocket and strung one around each of their necks. The security guard still standing at the gate near the stage let them through.
Harry was clasping Draco’s hand so tight that he thought it was starting to turn blue. He didn’t care though…a room full of sweaty sexy boys that they both adored, it was all worth it.
Howie was the first to notice the guests enter the back stage lounge.
“Hey, Harry and Draco is it?” Yes, they knew their names, which almost made Harry crap himself right then and there. For the price of the passes, they better know their names! Or so Draco thought.
“Yes, I’m Draco, and this is my boyfriend Harry, who’s apparently lost his ability to speak.” The blond chortled.
“Uuuhhh… yes, I’m Harry.” He said with a nudge from Draco.
“So it would appear.” Brian said from the couch.
“Well Harry, and Draco,” Howie emphasized, “you know the rest of the ‘boys’ Brian, Kevin, Nick and AJ.” He motioned to the rest of the group, who waved in turn. “And these are our two star dancers, Jen and Chels.” The two girls waved from their seats between Nick and AJ.
“Please have a seat.” Kevin motioned to the rest of the large semi circle couch. “What did you think of tonight’s performance?”
“It was great, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.” Draco said, Harry was still slightly gob smacked.
“Yes, it was great.” Harry filled in.
“We were trying a new choreography for ‘Larger than Life’. Did you see me screw up? I was supposed to go left, but I went right like the way it used to be, and I bumped right into poor Jen!” Nick babbled.
“It’s okay, at least you didn’t pull an AJ in Philadelphia and stomp on Chels’ toes in the first song of the night…poor girl had to dance the rest of the night on three broken toes!” Jen filled in and pecked Nick on the cheek.
“Yes, I vividly remember that…I wasn’t happy about it at first, but then he came up to our room with the reddest roses I’ve ever seen and rubbed my feet…so I guess it turned out alright!” Chels teased her apparent boyfriend, AJ, who oddly gave Draco a ‘Snape’ like vibe.
“Har har, now I’m sure you don’t want to just hear us go on about past shows.” AJ changed the subject.
“But I have to admit that that was pretty funny.” Kevin chipped in.
“Shut up!” AJ tossed a pillow at Kevin.
“Fine, fine. So we have lots of stuff for you!” Howie chirped and reached behind the couch to bring up a basket that contained tee shirts, signed photos and other memorabilia all tied up with a bright red bow.
“Wow, thanks guys!” Harry squeaked.
“Now I heard it was your birthday, am I right Harry?” Brian asked with a raised eyebrow.
“That is true…” Harry replied.
“Then I believe we have a song to sing gentlemen, ladies!” Brian quipped.
The two dancers retrieved a couple of guitars and sat down with them while the five men stood in a semi circle including the women, open to the two wizards.
“Happy Birthday to you…
Happy Birthday to you…
Happy Birthday dear Harry…
Happy birthday to you…”
The group sang in their smooth, rich tones, elongating the last word in each line.
“Thank you, that was beautiful!” Harry somehow managed to get out.
“You’re welcome!” Seven voices replied.
“Well Harry, it is late, we should be getting towards home, don’t you agree?” Draco questioned the glazed look on his lover’s face.
“Yes, it is Draco. Thank you all so much!” They stood and hugged each of the group members and the dancers too.
“Bye, thanks again!” Draco called as they walked towards the exit, basket in hand.
“No problem!” Kevin called and waved.
“Bye!” The rest of the group added and waved also.
As they reached the alley to apparate back home, Draco noticed the tired look in Harry’s eyes. “Tired love?”
“A tad…just a lot of excitement, and I’m really happy!” he smiled weakly, unable to show proper emotion through the fatigue.
“No problem, we’ll go home and drop into bed. Sound good?”
“Excellent!”
“Okay then, hold on tight!” Draco warned.
With a snap and pop they were back in their bed room and a few minutes later in their pajamas and ready for bed. Harry wore one of the tee shirts over his boxers for good measure, even though it was a few sizes too big. Draco thought it looked adorable. As they crawled under the covers and snuggled in, he heard, “Thank you so much Draco that was the best birthday ever.”
“You’re very welcome love, you know I’d do anything for you.” He kissed Harry’s temple and cuddled up to the warm body and promptly fell into a deep slumber.
A tugging feeling pulled the two men out of the pensieve, and back into their living room. It was now Harry’s twenty seventh birthday and was reflecting on his favourite birthday memory.
“I can’t believe we thought that they were like sliced bread back then!” Harry exclaimed.
“I know, but it was fun, now wasn’t it?” Draco asked.
“Yes, yes it was…now you never made me that dinner…” He eyed his now husband wearily.
“Fine, I will…” he started walking towards the kitchen but before he got there, began to sing. “I’ll never break your heart, I’ll never make you cry, I’d rather die than live without you…”
Okay, so explanation time...The other night on LiveJournal ruinithel and I and a bunch of other people got into a Backstreet Boys discussion...this is the product of it. And, yes I wrote Chels (ruinithel)and I in as the dancers....but tell me what you think!!!
