Prologue
‘Naja naja’ or ‘Naja Hannah‘, those are the names my friend calls me in our shared tongue, in the private of his inner cambers. Yes, “friend“, not “master” or “lord”. Voldemort has always been a friend to me and my kin, stretching all the way back to my mother’s-mother. My mother was a gift to Voldemort from her mother, as was I a gift when it was time for her passing.
I have been with my friend for over 20 years and have grown even more powerful than the ones before me, because it is said that those who accompany the holders of great power are also blessed with the leftovers their bodies cannot handle.
My friend is very strong indeed, and as he grows so do I, as does the bond that connects us, that makes us one. One soul, two bodies, and unlimited power and time!
Or so I would like to believe.
However my friend does age, however slowly, however unassumingly, however unseeingly…
But I can see it.
And I cannot bear the thought of seeing him pass on before me.
There is a way though, a way that will buy him more time.

A child must die, one matching in his skill and power, so that Lord Voldemort may live and with him so will I.
