Prologue
My eyes open slowly. It is dark. There’s a full moon outside. I know that if I try to move I will be in a lot of pain. I focus on healing myself with my magic. I can’t heal too much or He will get mad. I heal anything that would scar if left alone. He doesn’t like me to have too many scars. I have to get out; it’s going to be our birthday soon. It might even be today. No, He would be here. He loves to come on our birthday. Merlin it’s cold. Wait the window is open! I know this and the first floor. He told me. I quickly stand, too quickly. I steady myself using the wall. The window was a little higher than my waist. This is my first time in a few years looking at the window. I stopped looking because every time I did it reminded me that I couldn’t get out. My feet hit the cold, wet grass. It’s cold and my thin, white shift does nothing to keep it at bay. I run and run. I’ll find you and we will live together as a family. As I run I think where would I find you, my big brother.
