Feelings Revealed

Harry and Draco got back from practicing Quidditch together and were now relaxing in Draco’s room. Harry got to a point where he had to tell Draco how he was feeling. He couldn’t bear that the one person he trusted with everything was the one person that he felt least comfortable telling of these feelings.

The longer time has gone on from when I figured out that these were not just platonic feelings, the stronger they’ve gotten. Harry thought, knowing now was the time to get it all out.

Draco was making all the regular conversation they always had: things about Quidditch, school, etc., but Harry could only give him half hearted answers due to his nervousness about finally deciding to tell Draco. Draco finally picked up on Harry’s mood and asked him about it.

“Harry, is there something wrong?” he asked in concern.

This is it…Harry thought, knowing it was the time to finally get out what he had kept bottled up for the last few years.

“I have to talk to you about something.” Harry said.

“Yeah?” Draco replied.

“I…uhhh…I have…ummm…” Harry started hesitantly.

Draco knew this was something big since Harry never had trouble talking to him about anything.

“Whatever it is, you can tell me.” Draco said very supportively, urging Harry to go on.

“I…ummm…I’ve been having these feelings…” Harry said softly.

“What do you mean? What kind of feelings?” Draco asked curiously.

Harry went on talking, partly ignoring Draco’s questions.

“I’ve been having all of these confusing emotions for a while that I thought were going to go away, but they haven’t.”

Draco just looked at Harry questioningly.

“The feelings…are…uhhh…for…you.” Harry said, sounding like he’d almost lost the nerve to finish the sentence.
It took all of Harry’s guts to look at Draco’s face to see his reaction. Draco’s eyes were wide and he was looking at Harry in absolute shock, but not necessarily in disgust. Draco said nothing for several seconds, so Harry tried to fill the awkward silence.

“I…hope this doesn’t mess up our friendship. I just couldn’t go on without telling you, because the longer I denied the feelings, the stronger they got. Maybe this whole thing is wrong, but it just feels so true to me. You are my best mate and I do trust you with everything…” Harry said, feeling torn up inside because he was almost certain that Draco wouldn’t want to be as close to him anymore.

Draco just continued to stare at Harry like that. Harry wanted Draco to say something, anything. He was convinced that his thudding heart could be heard echoing in the room. Suddenly Draco leaned forward and kissed Harry passionately on the lips. This thoroughly surprised Harry since this was his first kiss. Not only had it come unexpectedly, it was with the last person in the world he thought he would share it with. He was first caught off guard, but then he just let all of the intense feelings wash over him. All too soon for Harry, Draco pulled back and looked into his eyes. Both of them were quite breathless by this point, and they could both see how much they wanted this. Draco dove in for another kiss and Harry welcomed it. Harry pulled Draco as close to himself as he could, hardly believing any of this was true. After a few minutes, they finally pulled away from each other. Once again, silence settled in the room as both of them tried to make sense of what just happened.

“I never knew you felt the same way…” Harry said quietly.

“Neither did I…” Draco replied.

Since the unbelievable had just happened, Harry decided to voice what was on both of their minds at that moment.

“So…what now?” Harry said, not really sure what would happen next since he never even thought he’d get this far.

Draco was too overwhelmed to think straight. He had been attracted to Harry in the past, but since he never thought the feelings would be returned, he had let it go and went on to get a girlfriend. He was happy with Lisa, and had thought the feelings had gone away, but when Harry told Draco now about how he felt, Draco’s feelings for Harry came rushing back with force. In a way though, he was glad that he got carried away with his feelings now rather than later, since something like this would have caused even more problems with Lisa if things got more serious with her. Draco tried to think of where things should go next, but he was stumped.

“I don’t know. But I need to talk to Lisa. I don’t know what I’m going to tell her…” Draco said pensively, not pleased that she would be getting hurt in the process of him getting something he thought he never would have.

Harry felt a pang of regret when Draco mentioned Lisa. In the excitement of the moment, everything but what was happening was driven from his mind. He really did like Draco very much, and really did want to be with him, but he especially thought that since Draco had a girlfriend, nothing would come of him telling Draco his feelings. Draco’s reaction changed everything.

“I thought I would just be telling you how I feel, I never expected you to have the same feelings for me…I never wanted to cause problems for you and Lisa.” Harry said, feeling increasingly guilty, “I never should have said anything. I – ”

Draco put a finger over Harry’s lips and silenced him.

“Being with Lisa didn’t erase my feelings for you. Lisa is a good friend to me, but it has never felt like this with her. I know it won’t be easy talking to her, but I have to do it.” Draco said with resolve and a sense of finality.

Harry knew the tone, and just decided to leave that subject be. Suddenly Draco spoke up.

“Well, don’t feel bad. How could you not be attracted to me, being the sexy beast that I am?” Draco said, cracking a little smile.

Harry gave Draco a shove and smiled back.
