A Wager Between Girls

Author’s Notes: Hello everyone. This story was inspired by a different story on AFF. It’s called “A Friendly Wager”, by GMTH. To GMTH, if you read this, thanks for inspiring me! Oh and don’t worry, it’s not a copycat story. My imagination is too hardworking for that, haha. :)

Disclaimer: I don’t own any rights to Harry Potter, and I’m not making money from this, I’m just having fun.

*note*: later on, this story will contain drug and alcohol use, and probably a chapter (or less) containing bestiality. i'll give you another heads up for that chapter, in case you wanna skip it. it's not everyone's cup o' tea! it's not even mine really, but i'm giving it a try (writing it!! lol)

*NOTE*: this story isn’t specific to any year or book. I guess it’ll classify as AU. Actually, it's DEFINITELY AU haha. woot! :P

A Wager Between Girls

Ginny and Hermione sat next to each other in the Great Hall eating breakfast. It was a September morning, early enough for everyone to very quiet and sleepy. Stifled yawns and the tinkling of silverware could be heard throughout the chilly hall. The girls were tired and cold, and trying to warm themselves with hot tea and toast.

Harry and Ron sat across from the girls, and Fred and George next to Ginny.

Ginny tried to take a sip of tea, but yawned twice in a row.

“Stop that, Gin, you’re making me more tired.” said Hermione.
“I can’t help it. It’s too damn early.” said Ginny.
“Yeah. Why does Defense have to be at eight in the morning?” said Ron.
“I don’t know, Ron.” said Hermione.
“It’s because they enjoy torturing us.” Fred chimed in.
“Yeah they love that.” said George.

“I’m tired, but I’m looking forward to it because Professor Lupin’s teaching.” said Hermione.

Ginny smiled, but said nothing.

“Yeah, he’s good.” said Harry. “And it looks like he’s as tired as we are.”

Ginny and Hermione glanced over at the head table, where Lupin was leaning his head on his hand, watching the spoon in front of him twirl around by itself, stirring his tea.

“Aww. He’s sleepy.” said Ginny, quietly to Hermione. They smiled.

Hermione then looked down the head table and saw Snape listening to Professor Binns, who was floating around the table. Snape was clearly humouring the old ghost by pretending he was interested in the conversation. He sensed someone watching him, and immediately gazed back at Hermione, who turned away, startled. Her face flushed, and Ron looked at her strangely.

“What is it?” asked Ron, but dropped the issue when he received a glare from Ginny.

The mail owls arrived, swooping down and giving out the Daily Prophet, along with letters and packages.

A few papers dropped onto the table in front of the group of friends. Harry picked up the Prophet, and skimmed through it, with Ron looking over his shoulder, seeing if there was anything interesting.

Fred and George opened their letter, which was from Dean Thomas. Dean had made a list to order goodies from Fred and George’s Wizard Wheezes collection. The twins had a good laugh, and began writing him a reply.

Hermione showed Ginny a pink envelope, which was addressed to both of them.

“Well, open it, come on.” Ginny urged. Hermione ripped it open, and read it quietly to Ginny and herself.

“Dear Ginny and Hermione,
Hello girls! The Patil ladies here! We wanted to let you in on a wager we have going. It’s JUST for us four. ;) Padma wanted me to write that she’s laughing right now. ANYWAY, if you’re interested in our wager, come to the room of requirement today right before lunch. Our little meeting shouldn’t take too long. Hope to see you then!

Yours,
Parvati and Padma”

Ginny and Hermione stared at each other.

“What’s this all about, I wonder.” said Hermione.
“Hmm. I dunno. But now I’m really curious. Let’s meet with them.” said Ginny, smiling.
“Okay. We’ll see what the wager is, and then we can decide if we want in on it. Deal?” said Hermione.
“Deal.” said Ginny, giggling.

“Oi, you, no conspiring!” said George, as he and Fred left the table.
“No no of course not!” said Ginny, while Hermione put the letter away in her pocket.

“All bets are off.” said Harry suddenly.

Ginny and Hermione looked at him, mortified, but soon realized he was reading a headline aloud.

“Says there’s been illegal gambling over the next recipient of the Order of Merlin, First Class.” said Harry.

The girls were relieved. Harry and Ron were still oblivious to their secret invitation.
