Final Cut
Title: Final Cut
Author: BFirefly
Rating: R
Warning: Main Character Deaths
Summary: In her final year, Hermione plays out the last scene of what she and her associates call ‘Final Cut’. She learnt that in the entertainment industry, this is what the directors called the last scene of the movie where the bad guy wins.. until the sequel.
But, for Hermione and her long time friend, Severus Snape, this will not only be the last and final attempt to wreak havoc in the Wizarding world, but it will also be the Time of realization for Harry Potter.
Who will live to see the sequel? And who will be caught doing things that wasn’t expected?

Chapter One
The leading Role
She liked it. In fact, Hermione Granger loved it. She loved the fact that she was the last person they’d expect and the first person to be protected. For six longs years, she had stood by her best friends, helping, fighting and risking her life for those around her. Like Ron, she was a sidekick.
That, she hated. She loathed being called ‘the sidekick’. She knew Ron hated it too, he had practically spelt it out in their fourth year for everyone to hear. She understood what he was on about, but yet she had the given obligation of sticking by Harry during the tournament.
Cedric was not supposed to die. Harry knew this. He knew that it was him who was to die; but cedric, being the noble man he was and Wormtail being the stupid little rat he was, was killed. Hermione sat in the grandstand, listening and watching.. waiting for that tiny light to erupt, knowing that he had gone.
She knew Harry would win; because of course, he always did. But she did not expect him to share his glory – or cedric to share his glory. So in actuality, it was Harry who was irresponsible and stupid. Voldemort had a reason to be irresponsible.. Harry, did not.
For days on end, she counted down the very day that her.. owner, so to speak, would become whole again. She needed to get out of this bind. Although, Harry Potter was not the only one who was cursed as a wee child. She was too. Cursed with having to live under the guardian-ship of a loyal, yet unknown Death Eater.
Parents? Jane and Jerry Granger? Who’d believe names like those? Of course, with a little influence of the Imperius Curse, anything was believable. Severus chose the people, she chose the names. Upon telling them their new names, Snape scoffed.
“No one will believe idiotic names like that.” He said.
“Well, they are muggles. Muggles have regular names.. unlike Severus or Albus or Lucius!” she hissed back.
“Yes, well.. do what you want. Here, take them to dinner or something.. they smell of normal names.” He retorted, pushing them away.
Although, she would only need them until her sixth year, as they would die in a terrible car accident, on the way to a Dentist’s convention in Scotland. Hermione loved the brilliance of such a stupid way to die. So muggle, so simple.. so easy.
She would break the news to them in less than two hours when she left for school. But right now, she had other things on her mind. Snape was hounding her again about her rabbit, Fi-Fi. He’d eaten all the lettuce in the kitchen.
“Like your friends eat the lettuce anyway. All they do is talk trash and plan to take over the world. The food goes to waste.” Hermione said, picking up her pure black rabbit.
“I liked the cat better.. and besides, it looks nicer when there is food on the plate!” Snape protested. “Healthy food at least!”
“Yeah, it would match your healthy lifestyles.” She drawled, taking Fi-Fi out into the garden to play.
He stomped his foot like a three year old and followed her. The first time he had met her, when she was just a little baby, he could have sworn he seen a little bit of himself in her. Not look wise, but her actions, her words. She was snappy, witty and was always on the go.
“Hermione, please can you take that rabbit with you to school? I can’t have Fi-Fi rampaging around the manor, carrying on like a chicken with no head. It’s rather embarrassing.” Snape asked.
She sighed and pet her little bunny, “I suppose. But, I hear Owls feed on Rabbits. Besides, Fi-Fi is very big.. it could feed the entire owlery.”
“They do not feed on black rabbits,” Snape cleared. “It’s bad luck for an owl to eat anything black. Something to do with their flying.. puts them off or something.”
“Well, I guess I could take him with me,” she replied softly. “Only if you promise not to let Rudy sleep in my room again.”
Rudulphus Lestrange certainly wasn’t the cleanest of them. He left crap everywhere; in her bed, on her bed, in her cupboards, in her bathroom – everywhere!
Snape smirked, “Deal. Now, I think you had better get going. Wouldn’t want to be late for your final year..” he rolled his eyes. “Not that you care..”
Hermione smiled and picked Fi-Fi back up and carried him into the house to get ready for the train. This year was a very big year for her; she was going to be named Head Girl, she had her N.E.W.T’s and most of all, she was going to have the pleasure in being called something other than a sidekick. She’ll be named, the girl who killed the boy who lived.
“Long title..” she mused. “I can live with that.”
..:***:..
Carrying Fi-Fi in her arms, Hermione pushed her trolley through the barrier and onto Platform 9 ¾. She looked around, with sad, droopy eyes, looking for Harry and Ron. In her guardians words ‘this year will be her final scene, where the bad guy wins. End of story.’
The way he had said that, claiming her to be the greatest actress of all time, made her smile quickly to herself. A few metres behind her, she could hear them coming; talking about quidditch.. again. Another thing she hated.
“Hermione,” Harry shouted. “Good summer?”
She turned around, her first tear for the day, rolling down her cheek. They looked at her curiously, wondering as to why she would be crying.
“Hermione?” Ron asked, concerned. “What’s wrong?”
“Can we talk on the train? It’s a little cluttered out here.” She whispered, sniffing.
The four (Fi-Fi included) boarded the train and found an empty compartment. She sat down, stayed silent for a few minutes, then let the tears stroll down.
“Do you remember the convention my parents were supposed to go to?” she asked tearfully.
They nodded, “Yeah.”
“On the way they..” she paused for effect. “They collided with a semi-trailer.. my parents died instantly..”
Their jaws dropped, “Dear Merlin,” Harry muttered. “I’m so sorry Hermione.. is there anything we can do?”
“Anything.. we’ll do anything if you need us to.” Ron agreed.
She shook her head, “No.. I already know what I’ll be doing this year. I know that my parents would have wanted me to focus on my studies.. live a full life, with a good job.. settle.. down..” she stammered, hugging Fi-Fi gently.
Harry sighed sadly, “I don’t think there is anything I can say to.. to make you feel-”
“There is nothing you need to say.” She cut in. “I will be fine.. strong, for my parents.” And the crowd applauds, she thought smiling into Fi-Fi’s fur.

A/N so there’s the first Chapter. So this is sort of the outline of my final book if I were the infamous J K Rowling! I love it! Ahem, um, well, yes in my imagination, Hermione hates evil way too much to be so innocent. R&R!
