For Her Safety

This is my very first fiction. Please be gentle, but I’d still love reviews!

Harry, Ron, Ginny, and Hermione sat quietly upstairs at number 12 Grimmauld Place, eagerly awaiting the chance to eavesdrop on the upcoming Order meeting. Ginny had a pair of Fred and George’s extendable ears on the ready for the moment the meeting began.

“This was pretty spur of the moment, wasn’t it? I mean, Kingsley Shacklebolt just showed up and started yelling about getting all the members together for a meeting,” Ron commented.

“Well… Kingsley works at the ministry, doesn’t he? He must have heard something there that was awfully important, or relevant to the cause, I suppose,” Hermione supplied. Harry nodded thoughtfully as he listened to the bustle downstairs of people quickly entering the building.

Fred and George apparated into the room with a ‘pop’.
“Hey Fred, hey George,” said Ginny with a little smile. “Trying to get a listen of what’s going on downstairs? Whatever it is, it must be big news,” said one of the twins. “Really big news,” said the other, grinning madly.

“Why? What makes you think this is such a big deal?” Hermione asked the two, narrowing her eyes slightly. She was generally quite wary of the twin’s assumptions.

“Well, first you have Kingsley pop up out of nowhere announcing a meeting,” said one. “Then you’ve got the fact that they’re running around downstairs like a bunch of nutters, and THEN”
“You’ve got Dumbledore showing up not moments ago looking decidedly nervous, that’s what you’ve got. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that man look unnerved in my life, and we’ve certainly given him reasons, haven’t we, George?”
“Indeed we have, Fred.” He smiled a misty sort of smile recalling a few of their more adventurous days at Hogwarts.

“Dumbledore’s here… It really must be something then,” Harry mused.

“Well, we’re going to pop downstairs and try our luck with the ears,” grinned George.
“Hopefully, mum won’t have silenced the door…” grinned Fred.
The duo disappeared with a pop.

-Meanwhile downstairs the Order was beginning their meeting.-

“Well, what’s so urgent that you had everyone get here with practically no warning?” Molly Weasley asked Kingsley Shacklebolt. “Well? Well?!?” Her impatience building with every “well”. It was really no wonder where their children got their patience and temper, or rather lack there of.

Kingsley stood up and took a deep breathe, surveying everyone around the table. Everyone was present. Kingsley looked at Dumbledore and upon receiving a brief nod he began. “It has come to my attention that the ministry has passed a new law that they believe will help put a stop to the pureblood’s hatred for muggleborns… Frankly I don’t see how this will help at all...”
