A Dare, Hell and Heaven

A/N to Greenwizard, I have to agree with you about the chapter thing. I had intended this as a one off until friends mentioned that Snape's POV would be interesting and Draco's quest to find out the dare. But I agree. I shall rework the two into POV's into one I think. Then add Draco's bit. Thanks much for your input.

*deleted Snape's POV chaps, not sure if there is more here...

5th, April, 2007 - I am either vomitting comma's or starving for them, this is just a correction of gramar and such.

~Prologue~

“There’s nothing for it,” Harry thought. “You’re just going to have to face it, whatever IT might be.”

Harry was scared witless about this coming encounter.

He didn’t know what punishment to expect, but he knew it would be severe.

Why had he let Ron goad him into the dare? Why had he let Seamus’ taunts get to him? Why had he not listened to Hermione? And what was his Professor going to make him do or worse yet do to him? Harry walked along the lonely passages… it seemed everyone was well aware of his fate and deserted the halls to save him further shame.

He walked toward his doom, each foot step becoming more and more difficult as he approached his inevitable punishment.

Why did he do it? And why oh why did he do it during potions class? “He’s going kill me tonight,” he said to himself. “He is going kill me and throw me away with the rest of the rubbish.”

He turned down the corridor that led to the Potion Professor’s rooms. He paused for a moment, swallowing nervously. “Oh well, Harry,” he told himself, “you can’t get in any deeper than you are right now.” Off he went toward the dreaded door of doom.

~Hogsmeade Dare~

It had all started innocently enough. A lovely spring day spent in Hogsmeade with his friends, how did it end up here? He was sitting in the Three Broomsticks with Ron, Hermione and Seamus….

“Come on, Harry,” Ron chided, “you know you want to.”

“NO!” Harry said firmly. “I won’t do it, Ron.”

“What’s a matter, Potter, the great saviour of the Wizarding World afraid?” Seamus piped in.

“No, Seamus, I’m not afraid, but I’m not stupid either.” Harry growled. “You two think this is such a good idea then you do it. I don’t want any part of it.”

“Harry’s right,” Hermione agreed.

“Thank Merlin for Hermione,” Harry thought.

“Asking Harry to do this, Ron, could get Harry in loads of trouble. The last thing Harry needs is more trouble,” she said, angrily. “I’m surprised you would even bring it up.”

Ron looked guilty for a moment, but then an evil smirk lit his face. “Come on, Hermione, you know Harry’s had this crush for ages. Why not do something about it?”

“Because, Ron, because Harry could get hurt,” Hermione hissed. “Don’t you care about that, Ronald? Don’t you care that perhaps, Harry’s crush might not feel the same? What happens then?”

Hermione tone was sympathetic, perhaps a little too sympathetic. “What happens, Ronald Weasley,” she continued, “when poor Harry gets his heart broken, all for your amusement, hmm?”

“Oh, crap!” Harry thought to himself. “Oh, crap!” Hermione was making him look like a stupid, love-sick puppy. Harry felt his pride bristle. This was not helping.

“No, Hermione, I’m not worried at all and neither are you,” Ron said rather accusingly. “You’ve seen the way they look at each other. I’ve seen that look before. It’s obvious they’re both feeling the same thing, they just don’t want to admit it to each other,” he said truthfully.

“Oh, double crap!” Harry fumed. Was he that obvious? But, more importantly, did his secret love really look at him the same way?

Hope sprang a bit in Harry’s chest at the thought that his secret obsession might actually be obsessing over him.

“Oh, that’s utter crap,” he argued with himself, “there’s no way. I’m a complete fool for even thinking it.”

Harry was not about to get his hopes up only to have them dashed. He just needed to make it through the next few months and then he would never have to lay eyes on his heart’s tormenter again. Harry sighed aloud as his three friends continued to argue his fate.

“Ronald Weasley, you know we’re only guessing. We know no such thing!” Hermione gasped.

“Come on, Hermione, I know a lustful look when I see one.” Ron winked at her. “They both have it bad. This is just the push they need.”

“Yeah, Ron’s right, Hermione. I’ve seen him looking at you in the exact same way,” Seamus said, as both Ron and Hermione blushed. “Harry should just pluck up and do it. He’ll feel better when he has.”

“Go on, Harry, you know you want to, mate,” Ron goaded again.

“NO! For the last time, Ron, NO! I can’t do it and I won’t do it!” Harry shouted. People around them turned to stare as Harry’s voice echoed across the Three Broomsticks. Harry looked around and felt his face flame. “Oh, double, tipple crap!”

Harry sunk low in his chair as his three companions laughed at his embarrassment. Why were they discussing his love life, or more pointedly the lack there of? This was ridiculous. He had to leave before things got out of hand. Harry had had enough. He rose from his chair, when Ron reached out and grabbed his arm.

Ron stood and looked Harry square in the eyes. “I dare you,” he said simply, but loud enough so those around them could hear. Harry stared back at his friend in shock, “You what?” Harry hissed.

“No, Ron… don’t,” squeaked Hermione.

“Yeah, that’s it, Ron,” Seamus yelped raising his fist in the air, “I dare you too, Harry!”

Harry looked at his two friends’, anger boiling through every poor. “You what?” He said through clenched teeth, staring daggers into his best friend.

Ron stood to his full height (which put him several inches above Harry). “I – dare – you – Harry – James – Potter,” Ron said, emphasizing each word.

“Don’t do this to me, Ron? Please,” Harry whispered.

“No, Harry, I’m sorry mate, it’s gotta be done. I dare you.” A gleam of victory in his eyes.

“Stop saying that, Ron!” Harry shouted again. More stares. He didn’t care. He was used to being stared at. This was spiralling out of control. He couldn’t do it. He wouldn’t do it. He would not be goaded into it. He would not be. Harry set his jaw. “Stop it,” he hissed again.

“What’s the matter, Harry? Chicken?” Ron teased.

“Yeah, Harry, grow a pair of balls already,” Seamus interjected. “You tellin’ me, the Great Harry Potter, can’t get up the nerve? Or maybe you just can’t get it up,” he teased.

Harry glared from Ron to Seamus to Hermione then back to Ron. His mind was in complete turmoil. On the one hand, he could not do what they were daring him to do. On the other, he could not stand there like a fool and refuse with everyone in ear shot staring at him. He would appear a coward and he couldn’t stand the thought of further taunts at school. “Oh, double, triple, quadruple crap!”

“Fine,” he said loudly. “Fine.” He wrenched his arm from Ron’s grip, “I’ll do it.” He said forcefully as he stormed off alone, shocked at what he just agreed to do.

“Crap to infinity!” He raged to himself. “What have you got yourself into now Harry?”

He stumbled along the street not paying attention to anything around him. “Oh sweet Merlin what the hell am I going do………………….?”
