Fallen Angels
Chapter 1
Hermione looked into the mirror in the hallway. She watched her features carefully. Her large honey eyes stared back at her framed by the most delicate cheek bones and long lashes. Sheets of silk like chestnut hair gleamed around her shoulders. She sighed, "If only I could have always looked like this."
She had taken the initiative to go to the wizarding spa this last summer. For a nice round sum of 100 galleons she had been turned from book worm to book beauty. She didn't know how it could have happened really. Who knew that behind those bushy eyebrows and hair there lay a true princess. In every sense of the word she looked and felt like she was above it all.
She had gotten a personal stylist named Javier.
*Flashback*
It was 9 am and it was her first day back from Hogwarts. She woke up in her plain little bedroom and looked at her plain ceiling. She thought, "I am going to make a change this summer. In fact I think I'll go about it today. I have 150 galleons saved up from all that spending money my parents have given me over the years, why not use it?"
So, Hermione, being the obviously ingenious girl that she is, wrote a letter to Dena's Wizarding Spa 1432 Diagon Alley. She sent it off with Talienna, the owl her parents had purchased her for her 17th birthday.
To whom it may concern:
I was recently informed that your spa provides full makeover treatments. To be unabashedly honest, I am in dire need of one. Please return owl presently to say if you have any bookings available for next weekend.
Hermione Granger
It seemed to Hermione that they got back to her rather quickly.
Ms. Granger,
I am available for a full 2 day makeover next weekend. Dena informed me of your tragic situation. My services usually run at around 200 galleons per day. But I have taken the liberty of doing a magical essence charm on your letter and my dear I am going to give you the whole shebang for 100 galleons. I hope that this will be satisfactory. Before you arrive please remember that any changes made will be permanent and irreversible. Think carefully about what it is that you would like done. The first day will be spent going over your appearance and the second day we will hit the streets for some nice new robes.
Your Style Wizard,
Javier Trontos
She was so excited to go. She spent the next week experimenting with the different outfits in her closet before she realized that she truly didn't have any good clothing. Her mother came in one day and saw the mess that was piled all over her bed and floor.
"Hermione dear, what are you doing?” Jane Granger asked.
"Mom, I am going to the wizarding spa this weekend to get a full body makeover. Now, before you tell me no I just want to say that I am legally an adult witch and I want to make this change for my own health and emotionally maturity." Jane Granger rolled her eyes at her daughter.
"Sweetie, if you wanted help with your appearance you should have asked. Your father and I have been waiting for years for you to say something about wanting new clothes or makeup for years, but you never asked. So, we just gave you money in the hopes that you would use it for something you really wanted. We were just concerned that you might feel left out while all the other girls talked about things like boys and makeup." Hermione was speechless.
"Well, here is 50 pounds, use it to buy yourself some nice clothes." Her mother handed her a 50 pound note and exited her room, closing the door behind her quietly.
And so it came to be the weekend and Hermione made the trip to the Leaky Cauldron and then onward to Diagon Alley.
Dena's Spa was exquisite. A luscious setting that could have only existed in the wizarding world. It reminded her of Hawaii when she and her family had vacationed there when she was very young. Tropical plants, trees, and animals, in a lush climate, with an open air, you are in the middle of a rainforest kind of feeling. The building itself was white marble with gold and mother of pearl patterned inlays.
The reception witch asked for her name and told her that Javier would be with her presently. Hermione was told to sit in the waiting area and was asked if she might like a tea or some pumpkin juice. She was so nervous that her stomach was queasy.
"No, thank you."
Javier arrived in a swirl of brightly patterned robes and snug fitting pants. His hair was pulled back into a ponytail and he had the most beautiful face and eyes.
"Well, well, I suppose you are Hermione?"
She nodded.
"Well let’s get to it then."
The next two days were a whirl of activity. Magical hair straightening, eyebrow trims, and all other unmentionable procedures. Let's just say that she was just about completely hairless. Hermione decided one some new white dress robes that hung off one shoulder, completely baring it. They had intoned patterns of pearls seemed to gleam as she walked. Javier showed her how to accentuate her eyes with a darkening charm that gave her a smoky beauty. He made a comment about how she looked like a fallen angel. How true he was.
Hermione used her parent’s money to purchase new under things. Lots of lace and translucent material. When she got home she was surprised to find that her mother had purchased her many new clothes in the very latest of styles. A note she found on them said:
My Little Girl,
Over the years we have wanted to do this for you. Now, we know it’s the right time.
Love,
Mom and Dad
And so began the very different new Hermione.
*End Flashback*
So, Hermione looked at her curvy petite figure and watched her silken hair fall about her shoulders and back.
"Well, here goes nothing.” she thought as she went to retrieve her trunk. Her mother was calling. "Time to go back to school."
