Remus paused in his packing to rest his tired body and reclined in a nearby chair. It was all over now that Severus had “accidentally” let it slip that he was a werewolf. As soon as he had heard this “mishap,” he immediately went to his office to start packing his things. It was only a matter of time before the board of governors was breathing down his neck so Remus had resigned to save Dumbledore the trouble of having to fight for him. He smiled to himself as he though affectionately about his mentor, but the smile soon turned into a frown when he thought about what he was leaving behind with Hogwarts.

Hermione scowled as she hurried towards Remus’ office. ‘Professor Lupin,’ she corrected herself mentally. Hermione had thought of him as Remus since she had found out his secret and finally admitted to herself that she had feelings for him, though she didn’t know what to make of these feelings. She shook her head to clear away these traitorous thoughts. Right now she had to find Remus; she had been worried about him ever since Snape has told the entire school that he was a werewolf. As his office door came into view, Hermione started to have doubts about her decision. Hermione had almost flew out of her seat as soon as the “announcement” was made and had to force herself to sit back down as she saw Remus’ distraught form leave the head table. As soon as dinner was over, she had hurriedly excused herself leaving a confused Harry and Ron watching her retreating form. She had immediately headed towards Remus’ office without pausing to think, something that was definitely out of character for her. Hermione paused in front of the door, not really sure about what to do. ‘You’re a Gryffindor for heavens sakes,’ she thought as she worked up the courage to knock on the door.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Remus heard a soft knock on his door. ‘Probably Dumbledore trying to convince me to stay,’ he thought. “It’s open,” he said wearily, fully expecting to see his surrogate grandfather. What he didn’t expect to see was the object of his earlier thoughts. When he saw Hermione Granger’s slight form walk through his office door, he was struck dumb. “P-P-professor...” she started shyly.
“I’m not your professor anymore,” he said, regaining his ability to speak. “I’m afriad that I just resigned Ms. Granger.”
“But professor, you’ve been our best DADA teacher yet! You can’t leave!,” Hermione said panicking. “We’ll miss you too much.” She added in almost a whisper.
“The school directors wouldn’t want an animal like me teaching their children.” He spat the word out as if it burned his tongue. “And as far as missing me, I shall miss this place also.” Silent tears were running down Hermione’s face. She knew what it was like to be discriminated against because of her blood. She was reminded of how Remus must have been treated on a day to day basis thanks to a certain malevolent blonde. Above all else, she knew that Remus was not some animal, he was caring, gentle, and passionate. “I guess this is goodbye professor,” she said sadly. “Remus,” he interrupted her, “call me Remus.” Hermione left with a heavy heart, saddened to see what this man must go through. Remus mentalle cursed himself for what he said. ‘Call me Remus?!?!?!’ he thought, ‘I hope she didn’t take that the wrong way...or the right way,’ his inner voice reminded him. Remus could no longer deny his attraction to the bushy haired Gryffindor. At least now he would be removed this temptation and be able to focus on the Order.
