The Prophecy of the Phoenix

Christmas Eve and the Start of a Prophecy

I’m sorry to say I don’t own anything pertaining to the Harry Potter books. All I own here is the plot bunny.

Well folks, there’s got to be some hetero action in this chapter so that Harry can be born. After that I will go back to my usual male/male.

***

A phoenix will be born with considerable power that will easily crush all his foes but one. He will father a son, and shortly thereafter will be sent to shake hands with death by his nemesis. Many years will pass, and long abandoned for dead, the phoenix will rise from the ashes of his old life to rejoin his grown son. Together they will create an unstoppable force that will not only defeat a shared enemy, but will wipe evil from the face of the earth; creating peace and prosperity in the wizarding world that will last as long as they both shall live. :Prophecy of the Phoenix

Lilly Potter sat quietly in her living room staring out the window. She tried to keep her worry from tearing her apart. Her husband James had left with a few others a few hours ago. They went to stop a Death Eater raid in some small muggle village. She prayed that they would all come home safe.

“You should come away from that window dear,” the voice of her friend Molly Weasly brought her back to reality.

“They’ve been gone an awfully long time,” she spoke quietly.

“Oh don’t worry dear,” Molly sat down beside her and hugged her tight. “I have faith in them. They’re probably just finishing up some paperwork or something at the Ministry. Knowing James he’s probably trying very hard to restrain himself from turning the Minister into a fly and squishing him.”

Lilly laughed at that and got up to get herself another drink. “You’re probably right. I’m sure they’ll all be home any minute.”

Molly nodded and went back to her knitting. She was worried too of course, but poor Lilly worried so much she made herself sick sometimes. She rubbed her swollen belly and decided maybe she should knit another blanket since she couldn’t get to sleep anyway until Arthur was home. This was going to be their fifth child. Arthur was happy with having all boys but Molly hoped that she would get her daughter this time.

At nearly two in the morning the front door opened and in stepped Arthur looking worn and ragged. Molly jumped out of her chair and ran to him. “Where’s James?” Lilly asked almost franticly.

“Don’t worry Lilly. He’s right behind me with Minerva following right behind him and fussing.”

They all laughed and Molly took her husband up to bed. A few minutes later James burst through the door his whole body covered in blood. “Oh my gods!” she cried out running to him.

“Don’t worry love,” he held her tight and kissed her passionately. “Most of it isn’t mine.”

“Well that’s a relief. Let’s get you cleaned up then we can go to bed and talk more about it in the morning.”

“Oh I couldn’t possibly sleep,” he grinned wickedly. “Call me strange but I always get wound up after a battle.” He roughly pinned her to the wall and kissed her deeply his tongue gaining access to her mouth. Then he pulled back his eyes meeting hers. “Perhaps you could join me in the bathtub.”

His energy seemed to spill over into her and as he raced up the stairs she ran after him. Neither of them could get out of their clothes fast enough. The moment she was undressed he pounced on her; seeming to forget about needing a bath altogether. She moaned softly at feeling his rock hard manhood pressing against her thigh. Without a word they moved together to the bed. Lilly looked up into her husband’s eyes. He seemed to have been taken over by a wild animal and she could feel it too.

Albus Dumbledore sat quietly in his office contemplating the events of that night. The Death Eaters seemed to be getting bolder by the day. He didn’t know how they were going to stop Voldemort, but it was clear that they had to find a way.

He was brought out of his deep thought by a knock at the door. “Come in,” he called out.

Minerva stepped in with a grave expression on her face. “We need to talk.”

He motioned for her to enter. “Of course Minerva, come right in and have a seat.”

She took a seat in one of the chairs in front of his desk. “So what’s on your mind?” he asked.

“I just saw Hagrid. He stopped me to tell me about a little chat he had with a centaur earlier this evening.”

“What could a centaur have possibly said to make you feel the need to bring it to my attention?”

“The centaurs are having a celebration. They say the prophecy has begun.”

“Which prophecy?”

“The Prophecy of the Phoenix Albus! Remember the one that stated that the father will fight against the Dark Lord and fall into death’s grip only to rise again from the ashes and have the mark of the phoenix to identify him. Then it goes on to say the son will be marked with lightning to symbolize the power of nature. Father and son will be separated then rejoin forces and be more powerful together than each on his own. Their combined force will stamp out the Dark Lord forever. Well the centaurs say the son will be conceived tonight.”

“Oh Minerva, you know I feel about prophecy. They only come true because we make it so. I find them interesting, but nothing more than that.”

“I’m not so sure about this one Albus. I remember the last time the centaurs celebrated anything having to do with this prophecy. The day they claimed the phoenix would be born just so happened to be the very day James was born.”

“As I’m sure were many other babies.”

“We shall see Albus. Now I must be getting to bed.”

She stood up and leaned over to give him a kiss on the cheek before heading for bed. Dumbledore sat in silence after she left contemplating everything she had told him. It would certainly be interesting to see if this particular prophecy would really come true.

A/N: Well I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. I was going to make it longer but I think this is a good place to stop for now. I’ll try to keep updating it as often as I can, but no promises. As always, reviews are encouraged.
