A/N this was just a little story that came into my head after re-reading HBP, about how Ginny and Harry would feel about being apart, as like most of my stories this is a songfic and a bit sad, also I do not own any of this other then the plot the rest is JK's

Ginny was in shock, finally Harry and her had discovered their love, now after Dumbledore's death and Snapes betrayal, Harry had ended it all.

She loved the boy, no soon to be man in more ways then she could number. From the day he saved her from Tom it was fate in her eyes that they would be together forever.

Shadows bleeding through the light
Where the love once shined so bright
Came without a reason

Harry spent the holidays planning, Ron had decided to join him looking for the horcruxes, they had found them all nearly, a stranger sent them the cup of Hufflepuff and the locket of Slytherin. Hermione had said it was more then likely Snape. Harry still angry about his mentors murder refused to listen.

It was on cold nights like this, where the two boys huddled together for warmth, that Harry thought of Ginny. His heart ached, but it was for the best. Voldemort would not touch her if he thought Harry did not care. Yet still in his heart Harry wondered if she truly would be ok.

Ginny was told by Hermione that the boys were returning. She was excited, yet unsure. Would Harry's eyes lite up when he saw her or was she a reminder of what could of been. When he had come to Bill and Fleur's wedding he was distant. Not talking much and leaving as soon as possible.

The nights had become the worst for Ginny. She dreamt of the final battle of Harry dying and Tom taking her away. Or of Tom taking her and Harry trying to be the rescuer. In all of them Harry died, the worst was dreaming of herself dressed in black standing by Tom's side. Relishing in the look of despair on Harry's face as she cast the killing curse.

I would change the world

Then it happened, Hogwarts was attacked yet they were ready. An strange owl had warned Minerva, Ginny knew it was Snape. Hermione had been vanishing alot and she always new where the ex-professor was. Not one to stick her nose in other people's business Ginny worried about her one true love. Staring at Harry at the front of their troops, Ron next to him she suddenly realized the golden trio was only two, where was Hermione?

Harry stood at the front of the school, hordes of death eaters and monsters stood between him and the one man who made his life hell. Voldemort glared at the boy who lived. "HARRY POTTER!!!" Heads turned at the raised voice of one death eater. Then he stepped forward pulling a shorter one forward. The two death eaters walked over to the light side, dropping their cloaks to reveal the potion's master and Hogwarts head girl.

"All is ready Harry you now just have to attack," Hermione smiled at her friend. She had turned spy due to loosing Snape. Harry had learned that it was all planned, Dumbledore dying, Snape leaving. All planned so that he would be able to have enough hate in him to kill Voldemort.

Looking over at Ginny, Harry felt his heart swell, there was one last thing he had to do before going into the battle.

Staring in shock, Ginny acted on instinct as Harry embraced her, kissing her mouth before pulling away. "I love you Ginny and always have, don't you ever ever forget that." Then he was gone, down onto the battle field, leaving her standing watching in awe as the three of them moved as a unit. Hermione casting shields as Ron blasted away at the enemy that tried to take Harry down. Looking up she met eyes with Voldemort, A slight flash in his eyes and she knew. He knew he was going to die, Harry would win!

Bodies were strewn everywhere, as Ginny made her way through, trying to get where she saw Harry fall. The final key, the way to defeat Voldemort was truly in him. Harry was the final horcruxes, Slughorn had said it was not possible, but somehow Tom had found a way.

Finding her beloved, Ginny cradled his head, his sparkling green eyes locked with hers. "I love you," he croaked, tears fell on his face. It took Ginny a minute to realise they were her tears. "I know Harry and I will always love you." A slight cough and with his final breath Harry grasped Ginny close whispering as the Darkness took his life, "I'm almost there." Ginny understood, so many years wasted, youth gone, Harry finally had peace and so would she.
